00:00Hi, my name's Ben Rose. Welcome to Llangrannog.
00:02We're here delivering the Hub Officer training and education days
00:07as part of our strategy to engage as many young children into rugby
00:12through the WIU Hub programme.
00:19We've had some fantastic conversations.
00:21We've talked about how we can keep our game safer,
00:25how we can work with the schools, particularly,
00:29because I think the Hub Officers are in an incredibly unique position,
00:33that they are in schools, but they're also in the clubs
00:35and they're also part of our main WIU programme as well.
00:39So they can share really vital information
00:41like concussion injuries, head injuries,
00:44but also, you know, the wider safeguarding message as well.
00:48So they're a real valuable tool for us
00:50and obviously we want to support them with as much CPD as we possibly can.
00:55So I've had a great couple of days chatting to them,
00:58skilling them and we'll be visiting them throughout the year as well.
01:02We're very fortunate in the Welsh Rugby Union to have 100 Hub Officers
01:06who've been here in Llangrannog over the last two days.
01:09I think from our perspective, you know, the Hub Officers are key
01:12in terms of the future of the Welsh game,
01:15in terms of their delivery, their offerings that they provide
01:19to our young people out there,
01:21whether that's in an educational establishment at a high school,
01:24a comprehensive school or a primary school as well,
01:27and also into the community as well.
01:29They provide offerings in terms of playing, playing the game itself,
01:34also supporting coaches, referees out there,
01:37making sure that we grow the game from a women's and girls and a boys perspective,
01:41but also making sure that there's opportunities for youngsters to play the game,
01:45but not just about on the field,
01:47but I think also off the field as well in terms of,
01:50you know, we provide offerings now for eSports, Club of the Future,
01:53Minecraft, Microsoft activities as well,
01:57and also making sure that we're fully inclusive and diverse as well,
01:59to make sure that anybody or any child out there
02:03who wants to participate in the game or have an involvement within the game of rugby
02:07or just have an input into the game of rugby has that through our Hub Officers,
02:12and that is important and I think that hopefully safeguards our game for the future
02:17and makes everybody sustainable and grows the game
02:20in what has been a fantastic opportunity for all of us.
