00:00After a highly successful amateur career, Islay Erika Bumogau will enter the ultimate proving ground for Asia's up-and-coming fighters.
00:09She will take on Japan's Fu in a 100-pound catchweight Muay Thai bout at One Friday Fights 86.
00:16Rafael Bandayrel has more.
00:18The pressure is on for Filipina striker Islay Erika Bumogau as she is set to make her promotional debut at One Friday Fights 86 on November 8 at the Lumpini Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
00:36Bumogau will make history as the first fighter of Filipino descent to compete in Muay Thai under the ONE Championship banner.
00:44With the stakes being so high, Bumogau admitted that she can feel the heat as she's merely days away from the biggest fight of her budding career.
00:52It will be their first impression of me would be very important for those who will follow me.
01:01I feel a lot of pressure because I really want to pave the way for more Muay Thai fighters here in the Philippines.
01:10However, the 23-year-old Baguio City native is confident her hard work will pay off in a huge way.
01:17I really do my best to train really hard to boost my confidence, to neutralize the pressure, to neutralize the nerves.
01:26Because I know that I trained hard, I worked hard, I did everything to the best I can. There's no reason for me to feel super, super, super pressured.
01:40Bumogau is considered as one of the fastest-rising combat sports stars in the country, having already won two gold medals in the Southeast Asian Games.
01:49She also holds the distinction as the top-ranked Muay Thai amateur in the world in the women's 45-kilogram division.
01:56Now she's out to prove that she can fly the flag for the country on the biggest stage for Muay Thai.
02:02Rafael Banderel, from the National TV Network of the New and Better Philippines.
