00:00Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. said that there is a huge gap in the country due to the impact of Hurricane Christine on the supply of electricity to a large part of the country.
00:11Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. said that the number of affected individuals will not increase, especially in areas under state of calamity.
00:21That is why he ordered the Energy Regulatory Commission or ERC to study the implementation of temporary relief in the payment of electricity to areas affected by the hurricane.
00:31In a statement, the President told the ERC to study the implementation of a moratorium on the supply of electricity to areas under state of calamity from this month until December.
00:42He should also implement the staggered or gradual payment over the next few months if necessary.
00:48According to the Presidential Communications Office, this is still part of the government's effort to help those affected by the calamity.
00:56The National Electrification Administration or NEA continues to strive to restore the supply of electricity to areas severely affected by Hurricane Christine.
01:05In fact, of the 2.1 million household connections affected in total, only 500,000 households are currently trying to restore the supply of electricity.
01:15According to the NEA, in Pangasinan, 168 out of 192 barangays already have electricity supply.
01:21In Batangas, 76.2%. In Naga, 76% have been energized.
01:26In Iriga, only 54% have been restored and the manual shutdown is still being implemented in areas that are still flooded.
01:34In Albay, 62% of household connections have been supplied with electricity while 92% in Catanduanes.
01:41Normally, assessment will come in after full restoration.
01:47But we have initial data in these affected areas, it already runs more or less approximately at 50 million and counting.
01:59Because it will be difficult to assess those areas that are still flooded.
02:04But in any case, we will continue to help and increase the supply of additional manpower, additional boom trucks to fully help the affected areas restore electricity.
02:22As of now, 40 teams have been sent to Albay, NEA, to assist in the restoration efforts there, even though some areas are still flooded.
02:31The NEA also assured that the critical service establishments such as hospitals, evacuation centers, ports, and others have power lines.
02:39Safety will be an issue here, not unless and until the water is removed to make sure that the restoration of electricity is safe.
02:48But rest assured that all distribution assets that will be used are already on standby.
