00:00President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. promised to improve the facilities and improve the services in the country.
00:09The President said this in his testimony at the signing of the International Airport Public-Private Partnership Project Concession Agreement.
00:18Details on the country's news by Clayzel Pardilian of PTV Live.
00:24It is expected that tourism and the economy in Northern Mindanao will be more active
00:32with the help of the Public-Private Partnership Concession Agreement at Lagindingan International Airport in Misamis, Oriental.
00:42Today, the Department of Transportation of the private sector signed the Lagindingan International Airport Public-Private Partnership Concession Agreement
00:51signed by President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.
00:55It was given to Aboitiz Infracapital to increase the number, operation, and care in the country within 30 years.
01:04The target is to make it modern, improve the services, and increase the capacity of the country in Naturanga or in Misamis, Oriental.
01:15The agreement for the Lagindingan International Airport Public-Private Partnership Project provides us with the opportunity to expand the facilities,
01:25upgrade the terminals, augment capacity, and deliver our services in a safer, efficient, and more convenient way.
01:34This also shows our commitment to invest in the development of Northern Mindanao.
01:41From 1,600,000 passengers per year, the target is to double the number of passengers in the first phase of the concession agreement.
01:50And the goal is to increase the capacity to more than 6 million passengers after the agreement.
01:57Tourism will be active, there will be many visitors, and this will give more opportunities to those in the northern part of Mindanao.
02:07The strategic advantage of Lagindingan International Airport is large.
02:11It is located near Cagayan de Oro, Iligan City, and is surrounded by highly urbanized provinces.
02:17The project is worth Php 12.75 billion.
02:21The government expects to earn Php 3 billion and will be able to provide 32,000 additional jobs.
02:31This is part of the government's program to improve connectivity and accessibility in different parts of the country.
02:38While the next phase of the concession agreement will be held in different parts of the country,
02:45the Department of Transportation assured that the agency is ready for the arrival of passengers.
02:51It is expected to have 3 million passengers in the areas of Paliparan and Pantalan.
02:55There will be 1.5 million commuters going to the terminal of the bus.
03:01It is just a small area in the transportation sector because of the typhoon,
03:06the damage to the seaport or Pantalan was only Php 100 million.
03:11So, the Paliparan and Pantalan areas will be reopened.
03:15The DOTR just avoided our countrymen in Sorsogon, Pamatnugyan and Pantalan
03:23because there are still a lot of passengers stranded and they are waiting for a trip.
03:29But there are a lot of alternative routes that they can go.
03:32For example, in Batangas, there are people going to Visayas area.
03:37That is the latest from Malacanang. Back to you, Alan.
03:41Thank you very much, Clayzel Pardilya.
