00:00Good evening Sadler's fans, I've just left the WAM Stadium where Walsall have been held
00:05to a goalless draw against Accrington Stanley. That result has kept Walsall in second place
00:12in League 2, but leaders Port Vale have extended their advantage at the top to four points
00:18courtesy of a 3-2 win over AFC Wimbledon. It's four games unbeaten though for Walsall
00:24but they were chasing a third straight win after Matt Sadler named an unchanged side
00:29from the back-to-back victories against Grimsby Town and Carlisle United. Liam Gordon made
00:36his 100th appearance for the club and he could have capped it in style inside four minutes
00:39when he had a gilt-edged chance, which he unfortunately passed up. Ryan Sturt glided
00:44through the centre, slotted the ball into his path. On his weaker side, Liam Gordon
00:49fired wide of the near post. Accrington defended well, looked to try and break on the counter-attack
00:55but Walsall defended solidly and there were chances really in the first half for Taylor
01:01Allen, one from distance which was saved by the goalkeeper, and in the second half Nathan
01:06Lowe had the best chance of the lot. Ten minutes from time, played for on goal by Jack Heeran
01:12who came on and made an impact and Nathan Lowe was denied by the Accrington goalkeeper
01:17Billy Crellin. Tommy Simpkin was called upon once with a save at the back post which was
01:24key. Costello glanced one wide at the near post as well but Walsall were the side applying
01:32the late pressure. Perhaps if you're going to be critical of Matt Sadler, could he have
01:37used his bench a little bit more, just the two substitutions and Danny Johnson came on,
01:42saw one deflected wide of the near post and then Jamil Matt headed over. Jamie Jellis
01:49also forced a save from the goalkeeper with a thumping free kick and had another snapshot
01:53from the edge of the box which whistled just over the crossbar but it wasn't to be Walsall's
01:57day and it ended goalless here in Lancashire.
