European Parliament President Roberta Metsola met with Pope Francis on Friday to discuss key issues on the European agenda and emphasised the shared commitment to reconciliation and peace.

00:25The Pope held a private audience where he discussed main topics on the European agenda with Mezzala.
00:31On Ukraine, the President of the European Parliament said that the European Union
00:36will continue to support Ukraine from Russia's unjustified aggression.
00:41The pair also spoke about migration, to which Mezzala said there is a need for a European and human-centric approach,
00:48one that does not leave any country or individual unsupported.
00:53When speaking about the Middle East, Mezzala reassured the Pope that Europe continues its efforts to de-escalate the situation
01:00and said they need to find a sustainable way forward towards long-term peace.
