00:00Today we will be talking about the Galaxy S23 Plus versus the S23 FE.
00:06This can be confusing for a lot of people because the phones are very similar, but they
00:10do have a few differences and the price difference is probably one of the biggest things here.
00:17So when you do look in the used refurbished marketplace, you will see that you can get
00:21a S23 Plus for $459, excellent condition, and then you can get an FE for $351, excellent
00:28condition.
00:29But again, these are USA prices here, so you do have a pretty big price gap, especially
00:35if you're on a budget that's a big amount of money.
00:38So let's go ahead and get into it.
00:40So one of the first differences you'll notice is that on the S23 FE, you do have a glossy
00:45back and it can pick up fingerprints and smudges here, but it does look really nice.
00:51They both have these premium designs and feelings.
00:54They both pretty much look identical.
00:57The S23 Plus has a matte finish on it, so you won't really pick up fingerprints on this
01:02one.
01:03They're both, you know, obviously glass and metal phones as well too, and pretty much
01:07have the same layout as well.
01:09So they both pretty much have the same design.
01:12They both feel really good in the hand as well too.
01:14So let's talk about the displays.
01:16So the S23 Plus has a 6.6 inch display.
01:21It's Dynamic AMOLED, 120Hz HDR10+, at 1750 nits peak brightness.
01:27It also is 1080p and has 393 for the PPI.
01:32The S23 FE has a 6.4 inch display, so it's a slightly smaller display.
01:37And then you also do have the Dynamic AMOLED display, 120Hz HDR10+, but this has a 1450
01:45nits peak brightness, so it's not as bright in direct sunlight as the S23 Plus.
01:50It also has a 1080p resolution, 403 for the PPI.
01:54One of the things that you will notice here with the displays is that the bezels are much
01:59thicker on the S23 FE.
02:02So the bezels actually come in at 83.2% screen-to-body ratio, while the S23 has a 87.6.
02:12So it just makes the S23 Plus look a little bit more premium, in my opinion.
02:18But again, this is very small stuff, but the biggest difference here is going to be
02:22slight display size, and then you also do have the difference when it comes to the max
02:29brightness as well, too.
02:31Everything else is pretty much on par.
02:33They both look pretty much the same as far as quality-wise.
02:36Both of these phones are running OneUI 6.1.
02:39They both have the Galaxy AI features, and they both are very smooth.
02:44They both work really well.
02:46So I do want to talk about the actual benchmarks here, so I'll go ahead and pull these up for
02:51you guys.
02:52So this is probably one of the bigger differences with these two phones.
02:54So the S23 FE, it does have the Snapdragon 8Gen1.
02:59The base is 128 gigs, 8 gigs of RAM.
03:02The S23 Plus, it does have the Snapdragon 8Gen2, 256 gigs of internal storage and 8 gigs
03:08of RAM on that base.
03:09As you can see, you do have a better single and multi-core score on the S23 Plus, and
03:16then also when you pull up 3DMark here, you can see the difference in scores here.
03:28So basically, you can see the S23 Plus is not heating up as much, and you do have a
03:34higher frame rate as well, too.
03:36Alright, so when we do get into PUBG here, of course you're going to have better gaming
03:42settings on here.
03:43Now the S23 FE is a little bit behind right now in PUBG here.
03:49So basically, we have 120 frames on the S23 Plus, but on the FE here, we're only at 60
03:56frames, so we don't even have 90 frames yet.
03:58So they could add this with an update, but for right now, it's actually a big difference.
04:02120 frames versus 60 frames is a huge difference, especially.
04:07So it looks like the S23 Plus is just a little bit better optimized.
04:11But that's not to say that the S23 FE is bad at gaming, it actually is a pretty good gaming
04:17experience for the casual gamer.
04:20You can easily play games, no problem on here.
04:23So yeah, so basically, what you need to know is that you have a better gaming experience
04:28on the S23 Plus, but that's only if you're really into games, you're a hardcore gamer.
04:33If you're not, you can easily game on the S23 FE, no issues.
04:37It doesn't really overheat too much, it does get a little bit warmer, but it's not like
04:42a big deal if you're a casual gamer.
04:44Now as far as One UI, there is pretty much zero differences with the software.
04:49You should have everything that is on the S23 Plus here.
04:54So if you go to Advanced, and we look up the Advanced Intelligence, you'll see everything
04:58pretty much on here for the most part.
05:01This one should also have the slo-mo feature, oh it does not.
05:09So basically what that slo-mo feature does is, it's a part of the whole AI experience,
05:16so you can see if I tap down on this one, it'll automatically do a slo-mo thing.
05:21This one does not, surprisingly, so I guess that's only for S23 Plus.
05:26We got both phones at max volume, let's check out the speakers.
05:29We'll start with the Plus.
05:59Yeah, both phones actually sound really good, really good sound.
06:10It sounds like the S23 Plus has kind of like a more crisp sound to it.
06:16There's a slight, it's a difference in sound here, so I wonder if, no it's not on.
06:26Yeah, I do like the S23 Plus a little bit more, but the FE sounds really good, but there
06:34is like a slight difference, but they both sound really good.
06:40Now there is also another difference here guys, with the fingerprint scanners.
06:45So the S23 FE, it does have the optical one, so it works fine, but the ultrasonic one,
06:56it's like almost instant, so you can kind of like lightly tap it.
07:00It's a very small thing, it's a very minute thing, but the fingerprint scanner is faster
07:05on this one for sure.
07:06So you have a very similar camera setup here.
07:10So the FE has a 50 megapixel standard, 8 megapixel telephoto, 3x optical, with a 12 megapixel
07:16ultrawide.
07:17It shoots in 8K24 with a 10 megapixel selfie that shoots in 4K60.
07:22This one goes up to 30x zoom.
07:25And then on the Plus, you do have a 50 megapixel standard, 10 megapixel telephoto, 3x optical,
07:3112 megapixel ultrawide.
07:33It shoots in 8K24 and 30, with a 12 megapixel selfie that shoots in 4K60.
07:40And this also does have a 30x zoom.
07:42So check out these side-by-side stills, let me know if you see any type of difference
08:46Alright, so the battery experience is actually really good on both of these phones.
09:15They both have great battery life, so I wouldn't really say that one is better than the other.
09:20They both have pretty similar sized batteries, the Plus with a 4700mAh and this one, the
09:26FE, with a 4500mAh.
09:29You do have differences in charging speeds.
09:31This has 45 watts versus the 25 watts on the FE, and then they both have wireless and reverse
09:36wireless charging.
09:37So technically, yes, the battery experience is going to be a little bit better on the
09:40Plus simply because of the faster charging.
09:44As far as screen-on time and battery life and standby time, it's really good actually
09:48on both of these phones.
09:50So it's pretty interesting, both phones are really close.
09:54I would say, honestly, if you're not a gamer, you really don't need the Plus.
10:00It's really more for people who are really into games.
10:04It really comes down to what you thought about the camera, because I thought they were pretty
10:08close as well too.
10:10So it would have to justify you spending that extra $150, $200 for the Plus, because both
10:19phones are very, very similar.
10:20The processor is better on the Plus for sure.
10:24They both are going to get pretty much the same amount of updates as well too, as far
10:28as software.
10:29Yeah, so very, very similar phones here.
10:32It really comes down to the very small things in this comparison.
10:36So let me know what you guys think and I'll catch you guys in the next one.
