00:02:02Boys, the Celtics are back.
00:02:04They're back and actually playing basketball in Boston with two games over the weekend.
00:02:09The always exciting preseason back-to-back.
00:02:13It gave us an opportunity to see every single player on the roster.
00:02:18I say that now, but I don't know if Jay Scrub got in the game.
00:02:23Yeah, I don't think he's been cleared yet, Jay Scrub.
00:02:26Everyone else, though.
00:02:27Unfortunately, no Jay Scrub.
00:02:29But you guys are in the building.
00:02:31Actually got to see the championship title defense attack start.
00:02:37Jay, start with you.
00:02:39What was your impression or wild overreaction to seeing the Celtics in person over the weekend?
00:02:46They are playing already at a very high level.
00:02:50And it hasn't been dictated by, obviously, the external motivation of winning a big game or competing against great players.
00:03:02The Sixers sat everybody and the Celtics played everybody.
00:03:08Basically everybody.
00:03:09And they still decided, you know what?
00:03:12Let's just play as well as we can and destroy them and go on with the night.
00:03:18I thought that was the most impressive part.
00:03:20You hear that Joel Embiid is going to be out.
00:03:23Paul George is going to be out.
00:03:25Everybody, Tyrese Maxey.
00:03:27And you think maybe the Celtics will let down.
00:03:30It's preseason. Who cares? It's a meaningless game.
00:03:33Oh, no.
00:03:34They were flying around playing defense.
00:03:36They were bullying their way to the rim.
00:03:38They were getting Luke Cornett layups.
00:03:40The offense looked beautiful.
00:03:42It was just a dynamite performance.
00:03:45And if they're going to bring that edge to a preseason game against a Philadelphia team missing everybody,
00:03:53then the motivation piece might be, you know, they might not have a championship hangover.
00:04:02Yeah.
00:04:03The lack of a letdown in any.
00:04:06I mean, I guess part of it, too, is they had a week off before more games.
00:04:10They're ready to go for that Philly game on Saturday night or anything else.
00:04:13But then you throw a Raptors team on Sunday.
00:04:16That was close to whole.
00:04:18Like they were missing a few starters.
00:04:20That's close to whole for the Raptors team.
00:04:22We weren't that close.
00:04:23I mean, like quickly.
00:04:24R.J.
00:04:25Barrett.
00:04:27I don't know.
00:04:28They had their best player, Scotty Barnes.
00:04:30They played Yaga.
00:04:31They were a competent NBA team.
00:04:33I wouldn't go as far as calling them competent.
00:04:36Generous.
00:04:37They had some of their NBA players on the floor.
00:04:40They had some NBA players on the floor, and the Celtics had their guys six through 15,
00:04:46depending on where you put Luke Cornett in that.
00:04:49I'd say seven through 15.
00:04:52Yeah, seven through 15.
00:04:53Luke Cornett's moving up that list.
00:04:55But no, it's a situation.
00:04:57I mean, beyond the fact that the Celtics are a really, really good team and are going to,
00:05:02for as much as we talked about last year, like, can it be this easy again with this group?
00:05:08And the answer is you look at what they've done through the four preseason games.
00:05:11You're like, you know what?
00:05:12It might be.
00:05:13It might be that easy most nights.
00:05:15So when you're playing the Celtics, it might be that easy.
00:05:18It might be that easy most nights.
00:05:20So when you're playing the Raptors of the world.
00:05:23But the cohesion, the chemistry within the Stars, within the bench unit.
00:05:28And I think the fact that a lot of these guys are just on the ascent in their careers right now,
00:05:34like not beyond just Jason and Jalen.
00:05:36And you see that in these preseason games when Pritchard and Howie to the Road get, you know,
00:05:41closer to 30 minutes and closer to 20 shots.
00:05:44And those guys are just damn good.
00:05:46And they're able to beat up against other team starters, other team's second units.
00:05:51And so the fact that they are going to be ahead of the curve on that front compared to a lot of other contenders
00:05:56in the Eastern Conference that have a lot of new parts they're trying to integrate,
00:05:59I think bodes quite well for this group out of the gate.
00:06:03I think, like, as me just watching it as a Celtics fan, you take for granted how good at least the top four guys are going to be.
00:06:11And it's just like, oh, it's just another kind of dominant performance from the Jays
00:06:17and the best defensive backcourt in basketball.
00:06:21Even at this point, I'm not surprised when Peyton Pritchard comes in and he's starting
00:06:25and he shoots the lights out.
00:06:27We had Sam Hauser, another very impressive performance.
00:06:31It's just if this is like, well, are we just due for another, like, boring season from the Celtics
00:06:36where it's just like, oh, Celtics are up by 30 again.
00:06:40Because it just feels like everything is clicking and there's nothing new from this team,
00:06:46at least in terms of the top end.
00:06:48This is the classic Packard reaction, where the Celtics play really well a couple of times
00:06:54and then he's like, there's nothing anyone else could do.
00:06:57Nobody will ever compete against them.
00:07:00Nobody will ever come close to them.
00:07:02I have yet to see it this season, just saying.
00:07:06That is fair.
00:07:07Am I wrong?
00:07:08However, it's a long season.
00:07:10It's one thing to have that edge, that attitude right away.
00:07:15Think back to even Joe's first year when they went 21-5 and looked amazing
00:07:20for the first 26 games of the season and then just kind of played basketball
00:07:28the rest of the way, including the playoffs when they lost to Miami
00:07:33in the Eastern Conference Finals.
00:07:35So I think it's just, you have to continue this.
00:07:40It's not enough to do it a couple of times against terrible teams in the preseason,
00:07:45against guys who won't, mostly won't be playing in the NBA this year.
00:07:50You have to do it again and again and that's going to be the boring part
00:07:53and that's going to be the challenging part.
00:07:55Just when you're 25-3 or whatever it is after 28 games,
00:08:01can you then play the 29th the same way?
00:08:03And then so on and so on and so forth because the Celtics last year
00:08:08allowed themselves no slippage and they just kept building and building
00:08:12and building until dominating throughout the playoffs.
00:08:15They've got off to a great start.
00:08:17You can tell their heads are in the perfect place right now,
00:08:21but you've got to stay like that to have a chance to repeat
00:08:27because repeating is really hard.
00:08:30Was it the 0-9 Celtics?
00:08:31Did they go 27-2 out of the gate?
00:08:34Yeah, they were incredible.
00:08:36So that's the goal right now for Jomezo.
00:08:38You start opening night, that's on the board, 27-2.
00:08:43Why 27-2?
00:08:44Why would you have a goal of two losses?
00:08:47Why not go 29-0?
00:08:48Yeah, have a growth mindset.
00:08:50Because Porzingis is out so that's two losses.
00:08:52That's the handicap.
00:08:54Well, we also have not seen Al Horford yet.
00:08:57He will play.
00:08:58He's just a real slow ramp-up, a good four-month ramp-up for Al Horford.
00:09:04He is actually good.
00:09:05He will play on Tuesday against the Raptors in Toronto.
00:09:08And so I guess the new wrinkle that we have seen
00:09:11and that we saw a little bit on Saturday night against the 76ers
00:09:15is who's going to fill into that center role.
00:09:18We got to see Luke Cornett with the starters,
00:09:21absolute domination of that first quarter
00:09:24against the dancing bear Gershon Yabusele.
00:09:27Yabusele didn't know what to do with him.
00:09:30And then we also saw a bit of Tillman with the starters.
00:09:33And Tillman saw, what was it, three of three for deep?
00:09:39Tillman's flashing those things.
00:09:41Maybe the finals three in game three wasn't a fluke.
00:09:46B-Rob, what do you think is more of a sustainable thing?
00:09:51Is it Luke Cornett being an offensive powerhouse
00:09:56or is it Javier Tillman knocking down threes?
00:10:01Above the break three and above the break three from Javier Tillman.
00:10:06For as good as Cornett has looked this preseason,
00:10:09like that might be the Tillman situation
00:10:12could potentially be a bigger story here for this team
00:10:15because Luke has not let it fly yet from three.
00:10:18We'll see if those days ever do come back for him.
00:10:22But Tillman, beyond just seeing the threes,
00:10:25he's moving a lot better overall after the surgery.
00:10:28And if that sustains from the pick and pop situation for him,
00:10:32like that's a huge thing for the second unit to have
00:10:35and a huge thing for just to be able to go to in lineups
00:10:39where they want that versatility at the center spot.
00:10:42So Cornett can get all the offensive rebounds he wants over Yabu
00:10:47and stuff like that.
00:10:48But when push comes to shove,
00:10:49there's going to be a lot of really tough center matchups
00:10:51and starting lamps in the Eastern Conference
00:10:53Cornett's not going to be able to feast against.
00:10:57But he played D'Ambo last year, Jay.
00:11:01Like he's, I think, just picking up where he left off.
00:11:03Like Joe is complimenting in terms of what he's done this offseason
00:11:07coming back.
00:11:08And so, I don't know, both those guys,
00:11:11they're only in their like mid to late 20s,
00:11:13but that's like as, you know,
00:11:15seem to be as reliable as you can hope for for guys on a minimum deal.
00:11:20Yeah, and especially considering you have Porzingis out
00:11:23and Al Horford taking a long time to ramp up.
00:11:28Like it's really nice to have Cornett and Tillman,
00:11:33two guys who are super dependable,
00:11:37especially defensively for both of them.
00:11:40Like Tillman, his offense will come and go,
00:11:43but they're just, you know, they're going to be reliable.
00:11:46You know, they're going to do the right thing.
00:11:48They're going to be where they're supposed to be.
00:11:50You know, they're going to run the right play and screen the right way.
00:11:54Like that's just nice to have.
00:11:56And they both play really well with the Celtics best players.
00:12:00They're both really smart guys.
00:12:02And like Cornett to me, his emergence last year was a big deal.
00:12:08Like his season probably didn't get talked about enough
00:12:11because he didn't play a lot of minutes
00:12:13and because he was behind Chris Epps, Porzingis, and Al Horford.
00:12:17But like if you look at the advanced stats, the block rate,
00:12:21the offensive rebound rate, he was really, really productive.
00:12:26And it's funny.
00:12:29At the end of the preseason game last night
00:12:34after the Raptors made like a crazy run to cut it to four,
00:12:38I checked the spread just to see if anyone got like just hosed by the run.
00:12:44And the Raptors were one and a half point favorites.
00:12:47I was like, why? Why?
00:12:49It's because Luke Cornett wasn't playing.
00:12:51And I get like Scottie Barnes was out there and Yaka Pirtle,
00:12:55but it's like Peyton Pritchard was clearly going to dominate the game.
00:12:59If you've watched Peyton Pritchard in the preseason,
00:13:02if you've watched Peyton Pritchard when the Celtics are down a lot of bodies,
00:13:06like Peyton Pritchard and Sam Hauser were going to toast them.
00:13:09And early on it was just Pritchard and Hauser and Lonnie Walker.
00:13:15Like those guys just, they're, Pritchard and Hauser are really good.
00:13:21And even against starters, like they can hold their own.
00:13:25They can control the game.
00:13:27They're tough to deal with because they're constantly moving.
00:13:31They're constantly, you know, putting pressure on the defense.
00:13:35And then they're able to just spot up and let it fly from anywhere.
00:13:39So I was surprised when I saw that the Raptors were favored.
00:13:44Like it was just maybe Vegas was pulling one over
00:13:49on the degenerates that in Celtics Raptors preseason.
00:13:53Scal was talking during the game that the two guys next to him
00:13:56sitting court side were definitely had action on the game
00:13:59because they were flipping out about the Raptors late comeback
00:14:02in the fourth quarter and not something you normally do.
00:14:05Must have been a live line.
00:14:06Yeah.
00:14:08Maybe they went under.
00:14:10Maybe, yeah.
00:14:11They went under on preseason basketball games.
00:14:14Some real sicko behavior right there.
00:14:15Real sickos up.

00:15:22Before we get to Pritchard and Hauser,
00:15:25I do want to get back to Cornette
00:15:27because we got this little narrative that emerged
00:15:31and I feel like it was all Corrales' fault
00:15:34because I didn't see it until someone brought it up on their podcast.
00:15:38Should Al Horford start or come off the bench
00:15:41as Luke Cornette played so well that he's earned himself a starter role?
00:15:46I believe Joe was asked about this,
00:15:48but to me this falls under the folder of preseason poppycock.
00:15:52B-Rob, what do you think about this question?
00:15:55Yeah, Joe has a very like,
00:15:59we could do it.
00:16:00We'll see because that's he plays everything like that.
00:16:03Every door though.
00:16:04He's not going to give you any kind of tell on that front.
00:16:08The one thing that you can make case for bringing off the bench
00:16:12is just to keep literally just to keep his minutes down
00:16:14from a standpoint of like if you if they want him for whatever this year,
00:16:17if they want him below like 25,
00:16:18if they want him closer to 20 than 25 minutes this year,
00:16:21then that's tough to do in the starting five.
00:16:24You can sub him out at like three minutes.
00:16:26Yeah, you can sub him out at five minutes.
00:16:28It's trickier.
00:16:29But I agree like with that said I'm off.
00:16:31I like there's not a lot of back-to-backs begin the year.
00:16:34And so it's you're like, oh, yeah, you could have the quantity.
00:16:37No, like there's three or four back-to-backs
00:16:39or like opening night against Carl Anthony Towns.
00:16:42Who do you want out there?
00:16:43Al Horford or Luke Cornette to start the game like
00:16:46and you go on and on there.
00:16:48I think and on top of that,
00:16:50Jay, I think I think Al Horford's a prideful guy
00:16:52and Al Horford was happy to sacrifice for this team last year
00:16:55when there was five all-star caliber players there.
00:16:59I don't think unless he's he will do it,
00:17:02but I don't think unless I don't think he'd be happily saying,
00:17:04yeah, come off the bench for Luke Cornette
00:17:07when he obviously is very much a starting caliber player
00:17:11in this league at this point.
00:17:12So unless it's part of his even slower ramp up,
00:17:14like he needs to.
00:17:15Yeah, right.
00:17:16I mean, that could be right.
00:17:17If it's if it's and that is the thing,
00:17:18if it's physically like that's where that's where he's at,
00:17:21where he's gonna be at a minute's limit,
00:17:22then maybe maybe they will do that.
00:17:23I don't know.
00:17:25When Joe said that,
00:17:27it was hard to tell whether he was letting you in on a secret
00:17:32and they are actually considering bringing out off the bench
00:17:36or he was just answering a question and like,
00:17:38yeah, I was open to whatever we're just going to to me.
00:17:42I agree.
00:17:43I don't want to put like like not selfish,
00:17:49but I don't want to put self-centered thoughts onto Al Horford.
00:17:53But I remember when he first got back to the Celtics after leaving
00:17:58and at that time,
00:18:00there was a question about whether he would start
00:18:02and he was just kind of like,
00:18:05I want to start.
00:18:06It means a lot to me to start.
00:18:07At that time,
00:18:08it was a different situation,
00:18:10but it makes me wonder,
00:18:12would he be okay?
00:18:14Like, like,
00:18:15like B Rob said,
00:18:16with playing behind Luke Cornette after everything he's done for the
00:18:20franchise after the way he played throughout the playoffs last year to then
00:18:24come back and be like,
00:18:25yeah,
00:18:26you're going to be off the bench.
00:18:27I don't know.
00:18:29The other thing,
00:18:30if they do do that to me,
00:18:33it would be more about how Horford plays with Sam Hauser and Peyton
00:18:39Pritchard.
00:18:40That like you're not worried about Luke Cornette and the starting lineup
00:18:44because you know that he compliments those guys.
00:18:47You know that he can hold his own against starting centers.
00:18:50Like,
00:18:51yeah,
00:18:52there would be some,
00:18:53some matchups that would be tough for him,
00:18:55whatever.
00:18:56But for the most part,
00:18:57you can play Luke Cornette with the starters and it'd be okay.
00:18:59To me,
00:19:00that decision could come down to how do you maximize that second unit,
00:19:04which was really a huge,
00:19:06huge piece for the Celtics last year.
00:19:09And like
00:19:15bench come in and be plus 15 points per a hundred possessions is just
00:19:18insane.
00:19:19And that's what they were.
00:19:20One picture.
00:19:27We lost day for me.
00:19:29Like,
00:19:30that's what the decision would come down to as long as he's willing to
00:19:32do whatever it takes.
00:19:35I don't know.
00:19:36I gotcha.
00:19:37Like,
00:19:38I got it all quick and fast forwarded at the end.
00:19:40So hopefully that picked up the recording.
00:19:42I do think that's interesting from a rotational perspective of just like
00:19:45if the second unit is Al Horford with Pritchard and Hauser and two of the
00:19:50starters,
00:19:51and you have that five out spacing,
00:19:53like the Celtics did such a good job of just beating every other team's
00:19:56bench.
00:19:57And to channel my inner Brad Stevens,
00:20:00if Brad Stevens got asked this question,
00:20:02it's not about who starts the game.
00:20:04It's about who finishes the game.
00:20:06And I feel like no matter what Al Horford is going to be in the closing
00:20:10five.
00:20:11And so me,
00:20:13it's,
00:20:14it's probably a moot point.
00:20:16I don't know how important that is,
00:20:18but maybe we'll do it to limit his minutes.
00:20:21Jay,
00:20:22you brought up earlier Pritchard and Hauser.
00:20:26Is there a chance that they,
00:20:27they have this potential to take the leap or am I just wildly overreacting
00:20:31to the four proceeds preseason games at this point,
00:20:35V Rob,
00:20:36because it feels like they like,
00:20:38I guess less so from Pritchard it's less notable,
00:20:40but it feels like Hauser has done a little bit to add to his game.
00:20:43And he's not just a three point shooter anymore.
00:20:45I think he's going to get some more two point shots and doing a little bit
00:20:48more off the dribble.
00:20:49I think Tom Westerholt made a good point.
00:20:51It's like,
00:20:52I think practicing against drew holiday and Derek white every day will
00:20:54probably make these guys a lot better on offense.
00:20:57But I feel like if there's anyone a chance to make like a noticeable leap
00:21:01in their games,
00:21:02it's those two guys coming off the bench.
00:21:05Yeah.
00:21:06It's certainly,
00:21:07I think the confidence boost those guys got from their run last year.
00:21:11It can't be underrated here either.
00:21:14Pritchard.
00:21:15This is what is coming up on this fifth year and lean up,
00:21:18but he's been,
00:21:19he's been playing like since his rookie year now.
00:21:21So he's,
00:21:22he's seasoned.
00:21:23He's someone who's been there.
00:21:24And like you said,
00:21:25when you're going up against,
00:21:27when you're just modeling your games and you're watching Derek white and
00:21:30drew holiday day after day after day,
00:21:32you know,
00:21:33you can find your spots.
00:21:35You can pick up things from them defensively.
00:21:37And those guys,
00:21:39I don't know.
00:21:40Like you put those guys on the Raptors,
00:21:41Hauser,
00:21:42like Hauser and Pritchard Packard.
00:21:44Like those guys probably can put up between 15 to 20 points a game
00:21:49potentially in terms of like,
00:21:51if they got the opportunities.
00:21:52And so we see nights like this,
00:21:54I'll just,
00:21:55aren't going to need them to do that many nights,
00:21:57I think this year,
00:21:58but we're forcing us out without out with,
00:22:00if depending on how careful they are through this year,
00:22:02maybe there is going to be games where those guys are going to get a lot
00:22:05more rope.
00:22:06And it is,
00:22:07I do think the upside is there based on what we've seen in these first
00:22:10couple of weeks of the preseason.
00:22:12Jay,
00:22:13where do you think Hauser is in his Duncan Robinson evolution of taking
00:22:16guys off the dribble?
00:22:17You were a naysayer to begin the season,
00:22:19but you know,
00:22:20he's shown some things early in the preseason.
00:22:22He might be making some two point shots for you.
00:22:25He really hasn't done a whole lot of that.
00:22:28If you watch Duncan Robinson last year,
00:22:30he was like running,
00:22:31pick and roll.
00:22:32I asked you where he was.
00:22:34I'm not saying he's full Duncan Robinson yet.
00:22:36I'm asking you where he is in the evolution to become full Duncan Robinson.
00:22:39He's,
00:22:41he's not probably going to have more than 65 two point field goals this
00:22:48year.
00:22:49You'll rue the day you made this bad prediction.
00:22:51You'll rue it.
00:22:52He's done.
00:22:53He's added a little bit more to his game off the dribble.
00:22:55It's all I'm saying.
00:22:57Yeah.
00:23:00That's what we're here for.
00:23:01Jay.
00:23:02We're talking about the Celtics.
00:23:03It's a Celtics podcast.
00:23:04I know.
00:23:05I just don't see that.
00:23:06He's like chopping guys.
00:23:09I don't see him really getting to the rim very often.
00:23:13He's has,
00:23:14he made a couple of twos.
00:23:15Yeah,
00:23:16sure.
00:23:18You know,
00:23:19who was getting into the room nicely.
00:23:20Enormous evolution.
00:23:23Who's that?
00:23:24You know,
00:23:25who was getting into the room a lot on Sunday night,
00:23:27Jordan Walsh.
00:23:29Had some,
00:23:30I don't know where this kind of came from.
00:23:31Like from a finishing standpoint,
00:23:33I feel like was,
00:23:35uh,
00:23:36you know,
00:23:37fairly not there for him silly,
00:23:38but everyone talks about the three.
00:23:39He had some nice finishes,
00:23:40you know,
00:23:41not just Sunday night,
00:23:42but throughout this prison right now.
00:23:43And like just driving those clothes out.
00:23:45I mean,
00:23:46the lefty,
00:23:47the lefties like finger roll off the glass.
00:23:49Yeah,
00:23:50that was tough.
00:23:51The one in the first half where he kind of like hesitated,
00:23:53got a guy on his back and then went up with it.
00:23:55It was just like,
00:23:56where is this Jordan Walsh?
00:23:57Like I've watched those summer league games.
00:23:59He was not like this.
00:24:01And like,
00:24:02I don't know what's more real.
00:24:03Is it,
00:24:04they go into the basket,
00:24:05getting to the rim.
00:24:06Is it the three point shooting?
00:24:08Um,
00:24:09is he emerged as like,
00:24:11I think we've,
00:24:12we've fairly established what the top nine guys in the rotation is.
00:24:14And I guess this is what the preseason is for,
00:24:17but is he the,
00:24:19is he the 10th guy now?
00:24:20Is he the next guy off the bench to get minutes?
00:24:22Has he earned that through his play in the preseason?
00:24:24Be Rob.
00:24:26Yes.
00:24:27It's assuming Lonnie Walker's on this team.
00:24:29Um,
00:24:30doesn't make this.
00:24:31We'll get to Lonnie.
00:24:32Um,
00:24:33but yeah,
00:24:34like there's,
00:24:35this is a,
00:24:36no,
00:24:37you know,
00:24:38I talk to people,
00:24:39um,
00:24:40behind the scenes,
00:24:41like going into camp,
00:24:42like people are like,
00:24:43Oh,
00:24:44the competition is going to like,
00:24:45it's going to be Baylor versus like James Pringer.
00:24:47That was the expectation for that spot.
00:24:49And lo and behold,
00:24:50Jordan Walsh comes out of the woodwork here and clearly had a good start to
00:24:53the game with the fact that he got the playing time out of the gate in the
00:24:56Abu Dhabi games and now has sustained it for four preseason games.
00:25:01Now to the point where,
00:25:02you know,
00:25:03he's getting those looks and he's bringing consistently what I think Joe
00:25:06wants from a rebounding standpoint,
00:25:08from a defense standpoint.
00:25:09And now I don't like the,
00:25:10the offense J is like found money with him at this point,
00:25:13because if he was doing enough,
00:25:14the other stuff,
00:25:15that'd be fine.
00:25:16Like you can get away with that.
00:25:17But now he's,
00:25:19I think just maturing a lot faster than we,
00:25:22we expected him to,
00:25:23at this point,
00:25:24we'll see if it translates,
00:25:25but that that's a,
00:25:26that's a very big deal for this team.
00:25:27If he can start doing some of this stuff when he is called upon.
00:25:30And who knows if the shot will stick,
00:25:33but to me,
00:25:34everything else is promising.
00:25:37The offensive rebounding,
00:25:39they've,
00:25:40they've put a huge emphasis for him on crashing the glass and he,
00:25:45he keeps grabbing big ones and then,
00:25:48then making stuff happen afterward.
00:25:50He had a big one against Toronto and then kicked it out for a three.
00:25:53He's just,
00:25:54he's making smart decisions.
00:25:56He's being a complimentary piece.
00:25:58He's his passing,
00:26:00which I think is probably an underrated skill of his.
00:26:04He he's,
00:26:07he's able to find guys in transition.
00:26:10He's able to handle the ball in transition.
00:26:12And so I've been impressed by Jordan Walsh and especially coming off the
00:26:17summer league,
00:26:19which was sort of a disaster.
00:26:21Like he looked in summer league the way you absolutely do not want a second
00:26:27year pro to look,
00:26:28which is timid,
00:26:30I'm unsure of himself.
00:26:32Just you're supposed to dominate when you come back for a second year of
00:26:35summer league.
00:26:36And he was so far from dominating that,
00:26:39that it was,
00:26:40it was easy to question whether he even had a chance to fight for a
00:26:44rotation minutes.
00:26:46And now here we are.
00:26:48And I would probably put him as,
00:26:51as the leader right now to,
00:26:53to take over the O'Shea Brissett role.
00:26:55I don't know if like,
00:26:57I don't have all the information.
00:26:59I haven't seen all the practices.
00:27:00I don't know where the Celtics,
00:27:02exactly where they are on that.
00:27:07And it'll probably be a little fluid I'm sure during the season,
00:27:10but yeah,
00:27:12he's been,
00:27:13he's been really good.
00:27:14And he's been consistent too.
00:27:15Like even on nights of shots missing,
00:27:17he's,
00:27:18he's helped out when the shot goes in,
00:27:20he's helped out a lot.
00:27:21So salute to Jordan Walsh.
00:27:23He he's come a long way over a few months and summer league ended.
00:27:26I know if it's just based on games alone,
00:27:30I don't think it's going to be Baylor Shire because that guy can't make a
00:27:34shot.
00:27:35It's almost comical at this point.
00:27:36It is comical.
00:27:38Some of those shots,
00:27:41some of those shots,
00:27:43not even the three he had from the corner where he tried to do like the,
00:27:50the Pat Connaughton,
00:27:51like catch it and don't,
00:27:53don't dip at all.
00:27:54Just keep it high and let it fly.
00:27:57It went like five feet past the rim did not even come close,
00:28:00not even remotely close.
00:28:02And,
00:28:03and Shireman needs to shoot well,
00:28:04right?
00:28:05Like Jordan Walsh,
00:28:06he's out there to defend.
00:28:07He's out there to rebound.
00:28:08He's out there to help you in other ways.
00:28:10Shireman is not going to make the same impact defensively that Jordan
00:28:16Walsh is.
00:28:17And so he has to be knocked down and he's been so far from it so far.
00:28:21Maybe it's just young guy getting his legs,
00:28:24right?
00:28:25Young guy,
00:28:26you know,
00:28:27getting ready,
00:28:28getting used to the speed of the game.
00:28:29He it's funny.
00:28:32If you look at his college stats,
00:28:33his,
00:28:34his,
00:28:36after he transferred from,
00:28:38was it South Dakota state to Creighton his first year at Creighton,
00:28:42the three point numbers were like pretty wobbly.
00:28:45And then second year is when he put it into high gear,
00:28:49became just a knockdown guy.
00:28:51So maybe that's it.
00:28:52He just needs a little time to adjust.
00:28:55And once he gets ready,
00:28:56once he gets used to it,
00:28:58they'll start going down like he's used to,
00:29:00but man,
00:29:01it's been like beyond ugly so far.
00:29:03Yeah.
00:29:04We'll see.
00:29:05We'll see in Maine.
00:29:06It looks like as far as opportunity goes.
00:29:10Cause yeah.
00:29:11Like coming off of,
00:29:12cause the shot didn't really,
00:29:14he did other stuff well in summer league,
00:29:16but like the shot really wasn't there in summer league either.
00:29:18And that is certainly when you're that's,
00:29:22that's what he was drafted for first and foremost.
00:29:24And so that has to come around at some point.
00:29:26And for now it's not that big of a deal because Jordan Walsh is ready for
00:29:30theirs,
00:29:31but you know,
00:29:32like I said,
00:29:33like if he gets,
00:29:34gets a year,
00:29:35get comfortable in Maine or just,
00:29:36you know,
00:29:37even a half season and just,
00:29:38you know,
00:29:39I'm sure he's going to get a chance here or there over the course of
00:29:41the season,
00:29:42just naturally Packard.
00:29:43But like by and large right now,
00:29:44that's if you're going to look at,
00:29:46you know,
00:29:47underwhelming preseason performances across this team,
00:29:49that's probably,
00:29:50you know,
00:29:51top of the list right now.
00:29:52Yeah.
00:29:53And Shireman,
00:29:54he may be four years older than Jordan Walsh,
00:29:56but Walsh does have a year of just like playing in the NBA.
00:29:59And I feel like that's like a huge adjustment.
00:30:01Adjusting to the speed of the NBA,
00:30:03the size of the guys,
00:30:04the strength,
00:30:05the guys,
00:30:06the athleticism.
00:30:07So it feels like it's Walsh's position right now to kind of be that
00:30:1110th guy.
00:30:12Maybe that O'Shea preset role in the rotation.
00:30:16Basketball is back in the TD garden folks.
00:30:20And it is a perfect opportunity to get tickets to see the Celtics go for
00:30:26banner 19.
00:30:29Oh,
00:30:30I'm going to miss being in that building.
00:30:31And so do it for me,

00:31:37Now the man that everyone is clamoring for.
00:31:42And it's always funny how like,
00:31:44maybe it's just because the guy is,
00:31:46is it can get the biscuit in the basket as Drew Carter said on the
00:31:50broadcast,
00:31:51but like Celtics read it or like Celtics,
00:31:54Twitter,
00:31:55Celtics fans in general.
00:31:56I thought you were going to talk about Skopince for a second.
00:31:58I can't say his last name.
00:32:00So I was going to try to avoid it.
00:32:01Um,
00:32:02but no,
00:32:03the guy everyone is clamoring for.
00:32:04And they're like,
00:32:05he must make this team.
00:32:06They must sign him is Lonnie Walker.
00:32:08The fourth.
00:32:09And to give Lonnie Walker,
00:32:11the fourth,
00:32:12some credit.
00:32:13Um,
00:32:14he got the biscuit in the basket scored 20 points,
00:32:16uh,
00:32:17against the Raptors.
00:32:18I think it was three of six from three,
00:32:20maybe,
00:32:21maybe knock down four threes for nine.
00:32:23I believe four for nine.
00:32:25So maybe a little bit worse percentage,
00:32:27but still,
00:32:28you know,
00:32:29that's a damn near 40 upwards of 40% there.
00:32:31Jay.
00:32:33The question is,
00:32:34is he worth paying the veteran minimum,
00:32:38which is $2.5 million.
00:32:40And then I think the tax,
00:32:41because they're so far in the tax,
00:32:43it's 2.5 times that.
00:32:44So it's basically like,
00:32:45is Lonnie Walker worth the seven,
00:32:48$8 million.
00:32:49The Celtics would have to spend if they want to bring them in for that
00:32:51last roster spot.
00:32:52And then there's another question now,
00:32:54which is if they determine that he's not worth that and they want him to
00:33:00go to Maine,
00:33:01is another team going to sign him based off number one,
00:33:06past production and number two,
00:33:08the way he's looked with extended run over these two preseason games.
00:33:12So I think,
00:33:13right.
00:33:14It's,
00:33:15it's becoming more complicated.
00:33:16Um,
00:33:17the first two games of preseason,
00:33:19he looked like just not at all in the Celtics plans after the third
00:33:24preseason game,
00:33:25when he played a lot of minutes,
00:33:26he said it was the first time getting any reps at all with Peyton
00:33:29Pritchard and the usual Celtics bench.
00:33:31He's been playing with the,
00:33:34the GLE guys basically at practice.
00:33:37So,
00:33:38but those two games,
00:33:40he was really good.
00:33:41And the,
00:33:42I thought when he played with the bench,
00:33:45when the Celtics starters.
00:33:50Yeah,
00:33:51that was the part that stood out to me because he's,
00:33:53you know,
00:33:54he can take tough shots.
00:33:57You know,
00:33:58he will make tough shots sometimes,
00:34:00you know,
00:34:01he can erupt and score,
00:34:03but can he fit into the offense?
00:34:05Can he be more efficient than he has been in the past?
00:34:08Can he just really be go from a guy who can score in double digits as he
00:34:14has in three of his six NBA seasons to a guy who is out there to help your
00:34:19team.
00:34:20And I thought it was really promising that first night.
00:34:23And then the second night he came back,
00:34:24thought he was good for the most part.
00:34:26Again,
00:34:27there were a couple of moments that stood out to me.
00:34:29And,
00:34:30and one of them was,
00:34:32he got Yaka Pirtle on a switch and Pirtle was out on the perimeter and
00:34:40Lonnie Walker,
00:34:41instead of keeping the advantage,
00:34:43trying to attack him,
00:34:44making a play for somebody else,
00:34:46or maybe getting to the couple himself,
00:34:48he shot like this awful step back three over the top of Pirtle.
00:34:53And Joe was so mad on the sideline,
00:34:55like absolutely fuming on the sideline.
00:34:58And like,
00:35:00that's,
00:35:01that's the,
00:35:02the concern about Lonnie Walker.
00:35:04That's what they're trying to teach him out of doing is like those moments of
00:35:09settling.
00:35:10And those moments of looking for his own offense when he should try to do
00:35:14something else.
00:35:15And it was funny because he got similar situations a couple of other times and
00:35:19attacked and,
00:35:21and did it differently.
00:35:22And like,
00:35:23you can tell he's really trying to,
00:35:25to fit into the Celtic system,
00:35:27do what they want.
00:35:28And from the sound of it,
00:35:30from what he's saying,
00:35:31at least like this whole experience has changed him and,
00:35:35and kind of forced him to,
00:35:38I don't want to say rededicate himself to basketball,
00:35:41but just push his dedication to another level because he is fighting for a
00:35:45roster spot.
00:35:46He is fighting right now for,
00:35:49for a chance after,
00:35:50you know,
00:35:51being a first round pick and a guy with the Lakers signed a mid-level deal
00:35:55with them.
00:35:56It's just kind of been like slowly,
00:35:59gradually falling lower and lower on the NBA totem pole.
00:36:03And so he's trying to reestablish himself.
00:36:05And so far I think he's done a good job.
00:36:08Of,
00:36:09of just being humble and,
00:36:12and just trying to do whatever the Celtics need from him.
00:36:17Yeah.
00:36:18If you're Brad Stevens in the front office the last two nights,
00:36:20you're like,
00:36:21no Lonnie don't play this.
00:36:22Well,
00:36:23like this is to keep this on ice for a couple more weeks.
00:36:25So the rest of the league doesn't see this and pluck you away.
00:36:28Cause it is the perfect road.
00:36:29It's like,
00:36:30all right.
00:36:31Lonnie gets in the system.
00:36:32He goes up to Maine.
00:36:33He plays well up there.
00:36:34Maybe at the trade that might,
00:36:36we make some moves.
00:36:37We open up a roster spot for him.
00:36:38And I honestly think guys like this could potentially be,
00:36:41you know,
00:36:42forget about this year,
00:36:43but like down the line,
00:36:46they're going to obviously be down rotation bodies just due to the
00:36:50finances.
00:36:51And Lonnie Walker is the ideal guy to bring in there.
00:36:54And on the minimum or something like that,
00:36:58a year or two down the line and get them in the system.
00:37:00And if you have them already integrated and then he can become a
00:37:03contributor,
00:37:04like that's great.
00:37:05But to be able to get to that point is a whole nother situation.
00:37:08If obviously he's not going to wait around for a year,
00:37:10if another NBA team comes calling of an opportunity,
00:37:12which I think probably some might should based on how he's looked in
00:37:17these last couple of games,
00:37:18if he's kind of changed his game of it as Jay laid out there.
00:37:22So that is going to be,
00:37:23I think a fascinating subplot of cuts in the next week or two is like
00:37:28how this plays out around the league and whether another team comes
00:37:33calling or I don't know, Packard, would, would you, would you trade away?
00:37:36Would you try to trade away Jayden Springer to,
00:37:38to open up a spot for Lonnie Walker now?
00:37:42I would personally,
00:37:44cause I just haven't seen a lot from Jayden Springer.
00:37:46I feel like Jayden Springer might be a couple of years away from being a
00:37:49couple of years away at this point.
00:37:51I think it's a very interesting question,
00:37:54especially in the context of the Celtics are actively selling the team
00:38:00seemingly because Irv Grosbeck didn't like how much money they were paying.
00:38:04And so it's this extra $8 million. Yes.
00:38:09They're like billionaires, but it's like, it's just added money in tax.
00:38:12Are they willing to kind of spend that?
00:38:15I think it's interesting to bring up the like long-term consequences.
00:38:18Like what if you offer him a long-term contract and you can lock Lonnie
00:38:21Walker in on a minimum deal for the next couple of years,
00:38:24I think it's going to be very interesting to see how they play this because
00:38:27in terms of talent, it feels like he just,
00:38:31just in terms of shooting alone is a guy you want on your rotation.
00:38:35You want someone who can just knock down threes and can kind of give you a
00:38:39bit of playmaking, a bit of scoring.
00:38:41Like I'm just thinking of like what they had and what roles they had after
00:38:44O'Shea Brissett last year, they didn't really have,
00:38:47like Steve came in and just chucked and he was an offensive option.
00:38:51Then you kind of had like energy guys in Banton and Stevens,
00:38:54but you didn't have really anyone else who could come in and score the
00:38:57basketball as easily as Walker can.
00:38:59So just like from a pure talent perspective,
00:39:02it feels like obviously you want him on the roster,
00:39:05but I can also understand,
00:39:06especially when you already are worried about how much money you're spending
00:39:10pain, I guess,
00:39:12would it be $8 million for, to, to bring him in when,
00:39:15when you do bring him in, he's still going to be at best.
00:39:19What the 11th man, like he's still behind Peyton Pritchard.
00:39:23He's the fourth would be the fourth guard on the team.
00:39:25And so is it worth it to pay him to be not get that many minutes?
00:39:30I have a question here.
00:39:32If,
00:39:33if you weren't ever going to have Lonnie Walker on your roster and if there
00:39:38was no chance he'd ever make the team,
00:39:42why would you even bother bringing him in?
00:39:46And, and that's where I bring in someone.
00:39:48That's where I do wonder, you know,
00:39:52it's gotta be hard to,
00:39:54for him to make the team just because of the financial realities that you laid
00:39:57out.
00:39:58But also if he's doing everything right and,
00:40:02and he's coming to work every day and he's improving and he's committing to
00:40:05everything that coaching staff has asked him to do.
00:40:08There's a lot of talent there.
00:40:10And,
00:40:11and I think the league sort of soured on him because it's like,
00:40:16sure.
00:40:17You get numbers for yourself,
00:40:18but how much are you really helping everyone else?
00:40:20How much are you really helping the team?
00:40:23But if the Celtics can coach him out of that,
00:40:26like there's,
00:40:28I just feel like there's,
00:40:29there's a,
00:40:30a real player inside of him to mine.
00:40:33And,
00:40:34and if you were,
00:40:35if,
00:40:36if there was no chance,
00:40:37why'd you bring him in?
00:40:39If there was a chance,
00:40:40then I think the way he's approached this and the way that he's played when
00:40:45he's been given opportunities,
00:40:48he's gotta be opening their eyes and,
00:40:53and,
00:40:54you know,
00:40:55maybe convincing them that,
00:40:57that it would,
00:40:58it would be worth it to,
00:41:00to keep him around and,
00:41:02and just see what happens.
00:41:04Yeah.
00:41:05That's the biggest part.
00:41:06Like he,
00:41:07he is forcing the issue right now.
00:41:08Like with obviously the games against Denver,
00:41:10it's end of the bench.
00:41:11Like he obviously didn't even play well in those spots.
00:41:14But now when you see the mix and how he meshed well with Pritchard and
00:41:19Hauser,
00:41:20it's like,
00:41:21okay,
00:41:22like this,
00:41:23you see the kind of the vision there.
00:41:24And it is,
00:41:25it's,
00:41:26I think in a perfect world,
00:41:27if there was no financial locations,
00:41:29like he'd be an easy choice.
00:41:30Of course you,
00:41:31you care him as a 15th guy,
00:41:32but now it's like,
00:41:33you have to weigh not just the flexibility of like,
00:41:37do you want that roster spot open?
00:41:39Or if like,
00:41:40what if we want to keep Jane Springer for a trade down the line?
00:41:43Like,
00:41:44cause we're obviously they have very limited flexibility to what they can do
00:41:47with any type of trades this year.
00:41:48But if Y just plays good enough and it's like,
00:41:51Hey,
00:41:52this is a proven NBA player who obviously was able to contribute in the
00:41:55playoffs a couple of years ago on a,
00:41:57a Lakers team that went to the conference finals.
00:41:59Like that's a pretty good guy to have.
00:42:01And if you're going to,
00:42:02if it's losing him outright versus like making,
00:42:06you know,
00:42:07the money work for the start of the season,
00:42:09it's like that,
00:42:10that's a tough choice.
00:42:11And so it's,
00:42:12it's,
00:42:13I think it's going to come down sadly,
00:42:14probably going to come down to finance for that stuff.
00:42:16But there's,
00:42:17like you said,
00:42:18Jay,
00:42:19there's no doubt that like they liked him a lot.
00:42:20And I think what the rumor was last year,
00:42:21they looked at him at the trade deadline too.
00:42:23So like,
00:42:24this is clearly not something that they just brought in for,
00:42:27for no reason.
00:42:28They obviously see something in the mirror.
00:42:30Yeah.
00:42:31I think it's a good point.
00:42:32Like if you make the signing and hoping that he makes the roster,
00:42:35like you don't,
00:42:36you wouldn't sign a bad player just to like.
00:42:38The counterpoint to that is maybe you sign him,
00:42:41hoping you,
00:42:42he ends up in Maine and you get him really cheap and have him in
00:42:45your organization.
00:42:46And then maybe after that,
00:42:48then you're able to.
00:42:50Like sign him like Nibi did at the end of the year.
00:42:52Like you,
00:42:53you have him on the roster spot.
00:42:55And then like you,
00:42:56like Patrick said,
00:42:57maybe you add the option for next season and then become,
00:42:59that becomes a nice little chip for you down the line.
00:43:01But is he too good for that?
00:43:03Like when,
00:43:04when he says,
00:43:05oh,
00:43:06like Brad talked to me about going to Maine,
00:43:07like he's not going to make the roster and then go play for the
00:43:09Maine Celtics.
00:43:10Like that was the implication there to be like,
00:43:12all right,
00:43:13you,
00:43:14we might cut you and hope you go play in Maine for us.
00:43:16And then are you trust us enough to know that we're going to give
00:43:18you a chance to be on the other side,
00:43:20which I think perhaps he was a show.
00:43:22Like he can at least point to the track record of guys.
00:43:24Like,
00:43:25Hey,
00:43:26look at,
00:43:27look at the guys who's come up through the system and had gotten
00:43:29their contracts.
00:43:30Like Sam has,
00:43:31or for instance,
00:43:32like if you,
00:43:33if you do what we want you to do and develop,
00:43:35like we'll take care of you.
00:43:36And Walker could look around the league right now.
00:43:38And be like,
00:43:39all right,
00:43:40this might be my best bet to get watch onto this organization and
00:43:42wait my turn for a bigger role.
00:43:44That being said other teams,
00:43:46not in the tax,
00:43:47just have to pay him the two and a half million dollars.
00:43:50He's owed for a veteran minimum.
00:43:51And like,
00:43:52is this it's much easier.
00:43:54I can imagine Lonnie Walker being like,
00:43:56I would like the guaranteed contract and to be on an NBA team rather
00:44:00than the promise of perhaps making the team in the future and having
00:44:04to take a bunch of trips off to Portland,
00:44:06Maine,
00:44:07no matter how pretty Portland,
00:44:08Maine is in the fall.
00:44:09I mean,
00:44:10the,
00:44:11you could just do it for the foliage alone,
00:44:12but we'll see.
00:44:13Oh,
00:44:14fellas,
00:44:15you were in the building.
00:44:16Any other basketball observations before we get to the general nonsense
00:44:19portion of the show?
00:44:23Jayden Springer started preseason.
00:44:26And it was like,
00:44:27Ooh,
00:44:28Jayden Springer's got a chance to play minutes.
00:44:29Jayden Springer ended preseason.
00:44:31And it's now like,
00:44:32Hey,
00:44:33I don't know.
00:44:34Joe got pretty mad at him.
00:44:36If he got yanked him in that second quarter,
00:44:38he's screaming at him to take a charge that he didn't take.
00:44:41I think it was after a turnover,
00:44:43but yeah,
00:44:44he probably,
00:44:45I don't think he had a good,
00:44:46definitely not have a good sequence there.
00:44:47And yeah.
00:44:49And he played less minutes than a lot of guys.
00:44:52You got a DNP on a,
00:44:55on Saturday against his old team.
00:44:58If you at least give them like a chance to F you to Daryl Morey,
00:45:02but they didn't even do that.
00:45:03Yeah.
00:45:04Yeah.
00:45:05Not,
00:45:06not his stock is a,
00:45:07not turning the right direction right now.
00:45:09Uh,
00:45:10to heading into the radio season.
00:45:12Yeah.
00:45:13And then Jordan Walsh's stock and Lonnie Walker stock.
00:45:16Yes.
00:45:17Rose at the same time.
00:45:18So not great for,
00:45:21for Jayden Springer.
00:45:22I don't think.
00:45:25All right.
00:45:26Hearing no other,
00:45:27you know,
00:45:28really astute basketball observations.
00:45:29Uh,
00:45:30was that really astute?
00:45:31No,
00:45:32I was being generous.
00:45:34You know,
00:45:35I was trying to,
00:45:36you know,
00:45:37you know,
00:45:38build up the,
00:45:39the competence of the entire team in terms of their takes.
00:45:41Um,
00:45:42normally I wanted to try out a segment called,
00:45:44uh,
00:45:45stuff.
00:45:46Joe Missoula says,
00:45:47but he was not that interesting over the two games.
00:45:49And so we're going to do stuff.
00:45:51Joe Missoula does Jordan Walsh revealed that last season.
00:45:56He may,
00:45:57he got hazed by the head coach,
00:45:59The head coach hazed him and made him sing boys to men in front of the
00:46:03other teams and dance and sing and dance the boys to men's like pretty
00:46:08like slow,
00:46:09passionate R and B.
00:46:11It feels like the most humiliating song,
00:46:14like,
00:46:15like kind of band or group choice.
00:46:16You could make a young guy sing.
00:46:18And I'm sure Jordan,
00:46:19he's 20 years old.
00:46:20I'm sure he has no idea who boys to men is.
00:46:22Um,
00:46:23it felt like when he said boys to men to us that he wasn't sure whether
00:46:28anyone would,
00:46:29and we were like,
00:46:30Ooh,
00:46:31boys.
00:46:32Yeah,
00:46:33that's our jam.
00:46:34Well,
00:46:35I guess.
00:46:36So what's the question now?
00:46:37Like what's,
00:46:38what's your guys,
00:46:39uh,
00:46:40boys to men would be your option there.
00:46:42If you had to sing it to the team,
00:46:43what are you going to go?
00:46:44Well,
00:46:45what do you think Jordan Walsh?
00:46:46Do you think they were told him what he had to sing?
00:46:47Or do you think he had,
00:46:48he,
00:46:49he got to,
00:46:50uh,
00:46:51I don't have a deep boys to men bag.
00:46:53I just,
00:46:54I know some
00:46:56that's a good guess.
00:46:58If he's had to sing at the end of the road,
00:47:00just a solo and then dance to that.
00:47:02That's feels like torture.
00:47:03I can't believe Joe Missoula is in charge of this.
00:47:05This seems outrageous.
00:47:07See,
00:47:08I feel like that's far easier to dance to than like something fast.
00:47:12Cause you just have to just kind of sway your body a little bit.
00:47:15You don't have to,
00:47:16you don't have to go crazy.
00:47:17That's a fair point.
00:47:19Jay,
00:47:20but the,
00:47:21the bigger story is Joe Missoula is hazing.
00:47:24Normally the veterans are in charge of that stuff.
00:47:26Like that's not the head coach's responsibility.
00:47:29We should have known that Joe Missoula hazes rookies.
00:47:32He probably hazes veterans as well.
00:47:34I,
00:47:35I doubt that he only hazes rookies.
00:47:37He's kind of,
00:47:39I would guess he's one of the biggest,
00:47:42like bullies among coaches.
00:47:44I don't say so.
00:47:46And I,
00:47:47I mean,
00:47:48I don't mean that like,
00:47:49like problematically or anything like that.
00:47:51I just think he wants to test you mentally.
00:47:54He wants to force you to do uncomfortable things.
00:47:56And sometimes that means dancing to boys,
00:48:00to men in front of all your teammates.
00:48:02Also the Jordan Walsh said that he becomes like,
00:48:08he loses his rookie status next week.
00:48:11Yeah.
00:48:12I don't agree with,
00:48:13which I don't get that.
00:48:14As soon as Baylor Shireman joins the team,
00:48:16Jordan,
00:48:17like as soon as the NBA year ticks over July 1st,
00:48:20you should not be,
00:48:21Jordan Walsh should not be a rookie.
00:48:22I think that's,
00:48:23he should challenge that.
00:48:24That ruling is ridiculous.
00:48:25They must enjoy him.
00:48:27His like,
00:48:28just clowning him as a rookie for one more song.
00:48:30One more song for Jordan Walsh.
00:48:34Cause yeah,
00:48:35Baylor,
00:48:36like we'll have to get more into,
00:48:38cause I guess Jordan,
00:48:39I mean,
00:48:40cause Jordan Walsh is like a rookie,
00:48:41like he's not only a rookie,
00:48:43like he's a young dude.
00:48:44He's 20 years old,
00:48:4520 years old.
00:48:47But fully embraced it.
00:48:48But you can tell,
00:48:49like,
00:48:50I imagine he is eagerly awaiting Tuesday night,
00:48:53opening ring night that he gets to pass that mantle on to the
00:48:56Baylor.
00:48:57But that is a,
00:48:58that was a tough,
00:48:59a tough draw for him.
00:49:00No doubt.
00:49:02All right.
00:49:03New segment.
00:49:04Number two,
00:49:05B Rob,
00:49:06this is,
00:49:07well,
00:49:08you're going to have to be the arbiter of justice here because
00:49:11there's an ongoing battle that goes on in TD garden.
00:49:14And I,
00:49:15who knows how many times it's going to pop up during the season,
00:49:17but I think it might happen a lot.
00:49:18And it's Jay King versus the wave.
00:49:21And we got some of that on Saturday night.
00:49:24We got a wave and sometimes I think the wave wins.
00:49:30And I think Jay is humiliated and he gets put on the Jumbotron and he
00:49:34looks like an idiot.
00:49:35Sometimes the wave has done an inopportune moment and Jay fires off a
00:49:39pretty humorous tweet.
00:49:40And I think Jay King wins.
00:49:41And so we got our first Jay King versus the wave on Saturday night,
00:49:45B Rob.
00:49:46And you were the arbiter of this.
00:49:47Don't let me influence you at all.
00:49:49You were in the building.
00:49:50You were going to keep tally of who wins the wave the entire season,
00:49:53who won on Saturday night,
00:49:55Jay King or the wave.
00:49:56I will present one piece of evidence in just a neutral piece of
00:50:00evidence.
00:50:01Jason Tatum did join in on the wave on Saturday night.
00:50:03So did Al Horford.
00:50:04So did Al Horford.
00:50:05Jay King presenting,
00:50:06like turning over exculpatory evidence against him in this regard.
00:50:09So based on this evidence,
00:50:10who won Jay King or the wave.
00:50:12I mean,
00:50:13this is an easy wave night.
00:50:14If there is,
00:50:15if there's,
00:50:16if this isn't any,
00:50:17if there is any time for a wave in an NBA arena,
