Part 6 and final part of the 1985 thriller. After the fiasco of the drop off sees one person dead and the kidnappers flee with the money, there seems little hope for Frances and Clare. However, Geoffrey suddenly sees a chance of salvation which comes from his very own line of business as he decides to try and find where his family is being held captive himself. Meanwhile the kidnappers discover that they only have half the money demanded and decide to take flight with Frances and Clare. But when the police and Geoffrey discover their hideaway it sets it up for a nerve jangling climax, which isn't helped by the increasingly unpredictable nature of Frances...

00:30How much did Willy take?
00:48How much?
00:49Seventy thousand.
00:51Sixty. Seventy thousand.
01:09What are you doing?
01:11Going.
01:12Where?
01:14You can't leave me here.
01:17You're free to go.
01:18What?
01:19And leave a million?
01:23I need you, kid.
01:30I can't be here and picking up my money, can I?
01:34Perhaps she can help you.
01:39Arms deals. Arms fantasies.
01:43Never intended handing over this money, have you?
01:49You wanted her as much as you wanted the money.
01:56What are you talking about?
01:58I cut off her finger, didn't I?
02:01I hate her more than I've ever hated anybody in my life.
02:05Then why are you screwing her?
02:15I don't know.
02:20I want you.
02:26I hurt you.
02:33I want you.
02:38Don't go, kid.
02:43You're part of me.
02:46You are.
02:50You are.
02:53You're the hair on my thick, bloody shoulders.
03:20We must go.
03:23They might find Willie, and he might talk.
03:26Take them with us.
03:28We must get out of here.
03:35Nothing.
03:38Go and rest.
03:41Chemist's breakings.
03:44I'll be back.
03:50There are four that fit the pattern.
03:53Obviously, they'd smash the place up,
03:55take other things, disguise what they were after.
03:59There were two in Dublin in the week before that tape was made,
04:04one in Limerick, one in Roscommon.
04:07How ill does your daughter get?
04:09I don't know.
04:11However ill she was, they wouldn't go to a chemist in the next village, would they?
04:16Extract all sightings reports for...
04:20Let's see.
04:2210, 20, 30, 40.
04:2440-mile radius of Utec, Dublin, Utec, Limerick.
04:46Any trouble?
04:48I was at Dad's, ain't you?
04:51The whitewash under the fingernail was discoloured and old.
04:57The brick dust is somewhat unusual.
05:00Most older Irish houses are made of stone.
05:04The bricks suggest an outhouse, extension, possibly a cellar.
05:09The bricks suggest an outhouse, extension, possibly a cellar.
05:15No idea of the age of the house, I suppose?
05:17Oh, yes.
05:20They killed making these bricks shut down 80 years ago.
05:39Mr Carr.
06:00Mr Carr.
06:03I don't want to raise your hopes, but I think it's worth following up.
06:05What is?
06:06I'll tell you in the car.
06:07Where are we going?
06:09Carrick-on-Shannon.
06:37Carrick-on-Shannon.
07:08Oh.
07:31Can you manage?
07:38Got it to me?
07:40Sir?
07:41Detective Inspector Carney. This is Mr Carr.
07:44Got it to me?
07:45Sir?
07:46Detective Inspector Carney. This is Mr Carr.
08:06Is that it?
08:07Yes.
08:10Oh, that's him. That's the fella.
08:24How can you be so sure?
08:28Your report says you glimpsed him in a passing car.
08:32Oh, well, no. It was a good glimpse.
08:37Well, it was a bit more than a glimpse of the man I had, sir.
08:40A bit more?
08:42Sir, I thought he was only passing through.
08:44It was only when the note came yesterday that he might be in the area that...
08:48I did report it, sir.
08:50I know you did.
08:51What are you trying to say?
08:56I apprehended him, sir.
08:58You apprehended him?
09:01For parking at a bus stop.
09:06It was only when he was driving away, sir, that it clicked.
09:08And then, thinking that I would be blamed...
09:10Like an idiot, you wrote this.
09:14I thought he was only passing through, sir.
09:18Yes, I see. I see.
09:21Stay in the station.
09:24I have the man's address, sir.
09:29I asked him for his driving licence.

11:36What you've done isn't superficial.
11:41She's been in this hole for 35 days.
11:44She needs fresh air and sunlight.
11:48Some decent people around her.
11:54If she was your daughter, what would you feel?
11:59You feel.
12:00Don't tell me you don't feel.
12:04I know.
12:10OK.
12:15If you have any feelings for me,
12:19let her go.
12:21You've had half the money.
12:23A third.
12:25You sound like my husband.
12:28She can go.
12:34We can drop her off on the road.

13:01And in the name of Stephens?
13:03Er, well, they'll check with the agencies when they're open.
13:06Mr. Carr, they're armed.
13:08Violent.
13:11Well, yes, but I have the list.
13:13So either I go with you,
13:15or I go on my own.
13:20Ah! Ah!
13:22Ah!
13:23Help me!
13:24I've got to put the hood on her.
13:26If she sees this place, they'll trace us through it.
13:29She won't tell.
13:30She will.
13:31Don't let them take me away.
13:33Let me put this on you.
13:34No, no, no, no, no.
13:39They're going to release you.
13:41They're going to kill me.
13:42No, darling, no, no, no.
13:43You'll soon be in the sun and the fresh air.
13:46And then later, they'll free me.
13:48I'll suffocate. My asthma.
13:50I don't want to leave you.
13:51I don't want to leave you.
13:54Ah! Ah!
14:25The woman from the big house falls in love with the big man.
14:33She's laughing at you.
14:35She's got you exactly where she wants you.
14:50Who do you think the knife was for?
14:55It's OK. It's OK.
14:56We're going to put you in the car and you're going to be free.
14:58Come on. Come on.
14:59It's OK. It's OK.
15:00OK, stop.
15:01Turn around.
15:02Sit down.
15:03Put your hand down here.
15:04Put yourself in.
15:05Come on.
15:06Put yourself in.
15:07Sit down here.
15:08Sit in the car and you'll be fine.
15:10You'll be fine.

15:47♪♪
15:57♪♪
16:07♪♪
16:17♪♪
16:27Back, get back or they'll be shot.
16:30Back, get back, I mean it.
16:37Back, get back, I mean it.
16:38Aah!
16:48Let her go.
16:49Let her go.
17:05Keep her head down.
17:09Keep it down.
17:22Crossen, you haven't a chance.
17:26Shut up.
17:28I tell you what's happening.
17:34Get rid of those guns for a start.
18:00I want a plane at Dublin airport,
18:03fueled and ready to fly.
18:07The hostages will be released unharmed at the destination.
18:14I'll have to consult.
18:16You're gonna have half an hour.
18:18It'll take at least an hour.
18:20Then get going.
18:26No tricks.
18:28No interference
18:31or they'll be shot.
18:34You know my record.
19:03Let's go.
19:08Let's go.
19:18Let's go.
19:38Okay, Mr. Carr, you found them.
19:58They're to be allowed to ascend the ladder to the plane,
20:01but they mustn't board it.
20:02First foot on the ladder, the army takes over.
20:05I understand they'll be vulnerable to snipers
20:07from the airport roof.
20:10O'Connor, you're a marksman, aren't you?
20:13Yes, sir.
20:14What a number of medals you've won.
20:16I'm sure you've won a lot of medals.
20:18I'm sure you've won a lot of medals.
20:21I'm sure you've won a lot of medals.
20:23I'm sure you've won a lot of medals.
20:25You're a marksman, aren't you?
20:26Yes, sir.
20:27You've won a number of medals, haven't you?
20:30Yes, sir.
20:31See if you can win another.
20:34You've had two bloody hours!
20:38Ten minutes, Kearney.
20:41We've chosen Cork Airport as it may force a petrol stop.
20:44I'll try and talk some sense into them en route.
20:47But if you think at any time you can shoot them both
20:50without endangering the hostages, you are to do so.
20:52Understood?
20:53Yes, sir.
20:54Shoot them in the head.
20:55One of them may appear to be unarmed,
20:57but that makes no difference.
20:58I'm driving off now!
21:01You must take them both, and you must be sure.
21:04Clear?
21:06Yes, sir.
21:14Frank Crossan!
21:15Crossan!
21:23Jimmy Doherty!
21:26We're into the big stuff now, eh?
21:29You have your plane...
21:32at Cork.
21:34Cork?
21:36We can suspend air traffic there.
21:40We will escort you to the airport.
21:44No way!
21:46Listen, Frank.
21:48You may meet roadblocks, police, army,
21:51who know nothing about you or the hostages.
21:53They may shoot.
21:56We will clear your way for you.
22:03A police escort?
22:05That's right!
22:08Okay, why not?
22:12You'll need this!
22:37Whoop! Whoop! Whoop!
23:02Better than a package tour, girls, eh?
23:07Give her a bloody drink!
23:38Yes, Jimmy?
23:39This is a message from the Taoiseach himself, Frank.
23:43Release the hostages now,
23:46and it would very greatly influence
23:48the length of the sentence you would have to serve.
23:51There will be no extradition to the North.
23:54That is a promise from the Taoiseach himself.
23:57Do you understand?
24:01Frank?
24:05Frank!
24:08I can't hear you, Jimmy.
24:10I've got the Pope on the other line.
24:38One car only.
24:40At the other end of the lay-by.
24:44Stay clear.
24:47What the hell happened?
25:07Stretch your legs.
25:37Let's go.
25:46Keep still, I say!
26:01What have we got to do with her?
26:07The wee girl's not well.
26:12She's coming over.
26:15Right, Frank, can she walk?
26:18Can you walk, darling?
26:20Yes.
26:21I don't know.
26:22Come back here, you!
26:27One person all life.
26:31Please.
26:32No, they may take you.
26:33Get back.
26:37Bloody idiot.
26:41O'Connor, cover him.
26:52Move, for Christ's sake, before it hits my mind.
26:55Go on, darling, please, please.
27:01Go on, Clem, please, please.
27:20Go on, go on.
27:32Go on, go on.
27:52Go on, go on.
28:12Go on, go on.
28:22Go on, go on.
28:32Go on, go on.
28:52Don't put it down.
28:56You want to shoot me, don't you?
28:58They shoot hijackers, we'll all be killed.
29:00Who's going to give you shelter?
29:02Give yourself up, I'll come and see you.
29:04And the cash?
29:05I will, I will.
29:31Fill it up.
29:38Get on with it.
29:54I need a lavatory.
29:56Go in the plane.
29:58I need a lavatory.
30:00We'll all go.
30:02No problem.
30:04Hello, Jimmy.
30:09Okay, Frank.
30:11Take your time.
30:31Go, move to the right.
30:33By the car.
30:58Go on, go on.
31:26Keep close.
31:27Keep your head behind her head.
31:34Talk to them.
31:35Come on.
31:36Talk to them.
31:37I promised I wouldn't.
31:38I'm your witness.
31:39I'll fight for you.
31:40You can do a deal.
31:41She's going to kill me.
31:42Give me that gun.
31:44She's firing you.
31:45Leave it.
31:46She got the girl out.
31:48We need two sheets at the airport.
31:50Don't let her look at you until she's destroyed.
31:54Down, Frances!
32:06No!
32:08No!
32:09No!
32:11No!
32:13No!
32:16No!
32:17No!
32:45Brilliant.
33:10The way you got those brutes out of the car.
33:11I forgot what it felt like.
33:40I forgot what it felt like.
33:56Yes!
34:02Can she come over tomorrow?
34:06I shall be out all day.
34:09Where are you going?
34:14A funeral.
34:17I have never heard of anything so bloody stupid in all my life.
34:21You are not coming.
34:24Then I'll phone Watson at the RUC and they'll escort you.
34:31Morning, Tom.
34:32Morning, madam.
34:34Eddie.
34:35Morning, madam.
34:36It's cold.
34:37Very cold, madam.

35:37Come on.
35:58I've never been in the North before.
36:06Our brother, Frank, was a violent man, but we can find penitence at the last.
36:22He released the child.
36:23Perhaps he would have released the woman also if he had not received such summery violence
36:33himself.
36:34We call trustingly upon thee, O God, the Almighty Father, who raised Christ his Son from the
36:45dead for the salvation of the living and the dead, the first glorious mystery, the resurrection.
36:58Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done
37:06in earth as it is in heaven.
37:07Forgive us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who
37:08trespass against us.
37:09Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
37:29Stop it!
37:34Please, leave us alone.
37:59Hello, everyone.
38:00Hello, Richard.
38:01Isn't she brave?
38:02To be entertaining us.
38:03You were lucky to find this place.
38:04Weren't we?
38:05Good I am, Lord, yes.
38:06So, you're selling Kilnermeth.
38:07Well, Frances has decided that she's rather more interested in this place.
38:08I see.
38:09Yes.
38:10It's a good place, isn't it?
38:11Yes.
38:12It's a good place.
38:13Yes.

38:25Yes.
38:26Yes.
38:27Yes.
38:28Yes.
38:29Yes.
38:30Well, I must remind you that she's rather more Anglo than Irish.
38:32Welcome back.
38:33Yes.
38:35Yes.
38:36Welcome back.
38:46... I've never ever known...
38:47Oh no, Steve.
38:48No...
38:54Today, our closing price for the pub is...
38:58Look, look, quiet, quiet.
39:00I'm determined to say this.
39:02Richard, do you remember?
39:08Oh, erm...
39:11How can we, Master, if you have forgotten?
39:13LAUGHTER
39:19A man has one idea,
39:22one fortune in his life.
39:25I still think you should have sold.
39:27Well, of course you do. Sold what?
39:29They were going to have me, weren't you? You thought I was finished.
39:32The Pressmaster, Kers, Lixbittles...
39:34Sold what?!
39:40Sorry. Sold what?
39:43Shares.
39:45Richard wanted to pick up some more shares in the company.
39:48Why didn't you sell?
39:50Because I got the money from O'Leary.
39:52I see.
39:54No, I don't.
39:56We were going to be released,
39:58and then something happened.
40:07Are you going to tell the whole story, John?
40:09No, nothing but the story.
40:11Then you'll want to know how they cut off my finger.
40:13Darling, I don't...
40:15They held me down on the table. I don't...
40:17They had to do it twice.
40:19Three times.
40:21Like chopping a dead rabbit.
40:23Put that in.
40:25Only the man who did it is more honest than you are.
40:27Put that in.
40:29Put that in.
40:36I'm sorry. I'm sorry.
40:38That was the most appalling after-dinner story ever.
40:40It was the most appalling experience.
40:42It's not the experience. It's you.
40:50I felt close to you.
40:52Loved.
40:54And you stopped bidding.
40:56Bidding?
40:58It was like the house, the auction.
41:00There was a price, and when you reached it, you stopped bidding.
41:02Oh, darling, that's all in your imagination.
41:04Is it?
41:06I sold everything, my love.
41:08But it's all here.
41:10Because we found you.
41:12Yes.
41:14Yes.
41:17Sweet, sweet, my darling.
41:19You know what Dr. Palmer said?
41:21People who've been through your experience
41:23often feel...
41:25rejected,
41:27bargained over,
41:29abandoned.
41:31Yes. Yes.
41:33It's common.
41:35Yes.
41:39You never left me.
41:42I never left you.
41:47Let me undress you.
42:03You raped me.
42:12Why didn't you tell me before?
42:17Don't you want to touch me?
42:19Of course I want to touch you.
42:21I feel so dirty.
42:23Oh, my poor darling.
42:25You don't understand. Oh, I do, I do.
42:27Dirty now.
42:29Then I was clean, dirty now.
42:31Dirty, dirty, dirty.
42:33Darling, you're not well. You're really not well.
42:35Look, please go and see Dr. Palmer tomorrow.
42:37Do you promise?
42:42Do you promise?
42:44Do you promise?
42:51Where did she go?
42:53I don't know.
42:55When?
42:57Soon after you went this morning.
42:59With Claire? Yes.
43:04She said she would contact you.
43:06When?
43:09When?
43:11I don't know.
43:14I don't know.
43:31It's as though the whole nightmare has started again.
43:37Perhaps she feels guilty.
43:39What, for being raped?
43:41And for his death.
43:43That makes no sense.
43:45Emotions aren't sensible.
43:48Hostages who feel rejected
43:50sometimes form relationships with their kidnappers.
43:54Strong relationships.
43:56Maybe the only way to survive.
44:02Have you told the police?
44:04No.
44:06Why not, if you think she's been kidnapped again?
44:08No, no, no, I don't mean...
44:13It's happened before.
44:15Before the kidnap?
44:17Yes.
44:19There's a pattern.
44:23And somehow...
44:27it's absurd, but the kidnap fits in.
44:33Are you saying she invited herself to be kidnapped?
44:38No, no, no, of course I'm not.
44:40Of course I'm not.
44:44It's as if she...
44:46wants to make me pay.
44:49And go on paying.
44:53And I'm not prepared to do so.
45:02What's this? Orchard Cottage, Stonesdown, Kent?
45:05Is that all?
45:07Not even a telephone number?
45:09There is no telephone.
45:13No telephone.
45:43No telephone.
45:45No telephone.
46:14You've got a monkey's head.
46:16I think I might have one.
46:40Ah, hello.
46:43Hello.
46:56Hello.
47:00Is that all you have to say?
47:05I'm trying to light this bloody fire.
47:09Well, you need paraffin.
47:35You promised you'd go to the doctor.
47:38I did.
47:41Oh, sorry, I thought you meant Whitemore.
47:43I saw him.
47:46Well, what's the use of seeing him?
47:48I'm pregnant.
48:04I thought you wanted a child.
48:07I do.
48:10Good.
48:12Good, that's all right, then.
48:20Is it mine?
48:22What?
48:25Is it mine?
48:27Of course it's yours.
48:29How can you be sure?
48:32The date.
48:35When I did it with him, I just had a period.
48:40A period.
48:56And honoured among the wagons...
48:58What?
48:59I was Prince of the Appletans.
49:03Time held me green and dying...
49:05See, I've always think...
49:07Perhaps you'd better get rid of it.
49:10What are you trying to say?
49:14You see, I'll never be able to...
49:17Get it out of my head, you see.
49:20That it's not mine.
49:25You see.
49:31That's absurd.
49:34It's all in your imagination, darling.
49:39That's as nonsensical as me imagining that there was a price...
49:44That you wouldn't sell your company for me.
49:59The scones are burnt!
50:03Well, come and help, then!
50:09Come on.
50:39THE END
