00:00Good morning, it's Steph at the Doncaster Free Press and it's Friday October the 18th

00:04just bringing you some of our headlines this morning. New data has shown that

00:09Doncaster Council is one of many authorities across the county country

00:14which has begun streamlining children's services to meet rising costs. A study by

00:20the BBC Shared Unit has found that Doncaster Council was forced to make

00:24cuts of a variety of services in order to meet the costs in this year's annual

00:29budget alongside the majority of local authorities nationwide. So you can read

00:34the facts and figures in there today. Then we've got one that I'm going to be

00:41sending out in the next hour. A dedicated operation by South Yorkshire Police in

00:46partnership with Circus staff at HMP Doncaster has had a

00:52significant impact after being introduced to target and prevent

00:55illicit substances and other items from entering the prison. Tuesday this week

01:00officers from the prison crime unit joined forces with Circus staff for a

01:05day of intensive activity designed to demonstrate how the partnership is

01:09helping to prevent illicit items from entering the prison. There was a 10 hour

01:14operation, 120 visitors and 165 members of staff were searched as they

01:20entered the prison but no illegal items were found. So like I said that's going

01:24to be going online very shortly, you can read all about that. And then finally

01:29another from the police, one from the courts. A serial Doncaster shoplifter has

01:34been put behind bars for a year after officers collated a

01:40catalogue of CCTV evidence which showed him stealing from shops in the city.

01:44Amongst the offences Aaron Dillon, a 28 year old, stole six jackets and five

01:51boxes of boxer shorts worth almost £1,400 from TK Maxx back in

01:57September. There's a number of offences on that story that you can read about.
