00:00President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. led the inauguration of the biggest sports arena in the Bicol Region, the Sorsogon Sports Arena.

00:09He and Senate President Chiz Escudero led the unveiling ceremony of this structure which is part of the Sorsogon Sports Complex that spans approximately 1.7 hectares.

00:20According to the President, this project is a significant contribution to highlighting the talent of Sorsogonans in the worlds of sports, especially since it will also serve as a training camp for various athletic events.

00:32This is an important step so that we can empower our countrymen who are talented in the field of sports. With this help, they will be given the opportunity to showcase their talents.

00:49We can also add them to the ranks of our Filipino Olympians and athletes.

00:55He also said the stadium can be used for summits, meetings, concerts, and other public events that will help boost the province's economy.

01:03It has a seating capacity of about 12,000 and can accommodate 54,000 spectators and athletes. It is fully equipped with amenities for various sporting events.

01:13The structure costs 1.2 billion pesos and whose construction started in 2018.

01:18Although it is called a sports arena, it is not only for sports events. It can also be used for summits, concerts, and other public events.

01:31That is why we cannot ignore the symbol of the progress of the Sorsogon Sports Arena. It is a symbol of the continuous effort, perseverance, and dedication of Sorsogonans and Bicolans.

01:47First Lady Luisa Reneta Marcos also came over to participate in the Kasanggayahan Festival as a judge in a competition.

01:53In addition to inaugurating the Sorsogon Sports Arena, the President also visited the Sampaloc Tenement Housing Project in the province.

02:00He also visited the Sorsogon National Government Center, where all government agencies are located for easier public access, which the President said was a result of the collaboration between the national and local governments.

02:12Though the progress is unmistakable, the President said there's still much that needs to be done, highlighting the urgency and importance of unity.

02:21From the very beginning, unity is what I long for for a stronger and more effective government. We need to help more children to be vaccinated.

02:34The security of peace will be better and the poverty in Sorsogon will be reduced.

02:41Our unity will also give us the means to complete other projects in your area, such as the Sorsogon Provincial Sanitarium Facilities and the road to Baikon Airport.

03:00We may have differences in beliefs and opinions, but I know that we are united in our desire to improve the quality of life of every Filipino.

03:16In a rare moment, President Marcos Jr. also met former Vice President Leni Robredo at the event.

03:21The two had the opportunity to shake hands after several years since their last political contest.

03:26According to Senate President Cheese Escudero, their presence together was symbolic following their role in the vice presidential race in 2016.

03:34But it certainly isn't everyone's interest on what was verbally exchanged between the President and the former Vice President in such fleeting encounter.

03:43No, they just exchanged greetings. I think this is the first step towards healing any wounds, any misunderstandings.

03:52Because remember, any debate or differences of opinion is political, not personal.
