00:00A very warm day for some, a very wet day for others.
00:04And for all, a pretty humid feel, all thanks to southerly winds.
00:08The big picture shows the UK smothered in clouds.
00:12We've got a large area of high pressure sitting to the east,
00:15but ambling away.
00:16Low pressure systems sitting to the west,
00:18and that's generating southerly winds.
00:20They're bringing the warmth and the humidity.
00:23But with these weather fronts injecting the moisture,
00:26they're also bringing some pretty heavy downpours.
00:28We've seen some very wet conditions already.
00:31Met Office yellow warnings in place.
00:33The heavy rain extending north into parts of northern England
00:36and parts of eastern Scotland,
00:38also looking pretty soggy this afternoon.
00:40Not everywhere seeing the torrential rain,
00:43but pockets of very heavy rain that could cause some issues,
00:47some local flooding,
00:49and certainly some disruption to the transport network.
00:51Much of western Scotland staying dry,
00:53actually a largely dry but cloudy afternoon in Northern Ireland.
00:56It's eastern England where we're seeing the driest
00:59and brightest weather, some sunshine here.
01:02Likely to see temperatures top out at 20, 21,
01:05maybe even 22 degrees Celsius.
01:07Not unprecedented for October,
01:09but still pretty warm for the middle of the month.
01:12And even where it's raining, temperatures 17, 18 degrees,
01:15that humid feel likely to continue.
01:18And the wet weather will continue
01:20through the evening and overnight.
01:21There's warnings in place into the evening as well.
01:24As the rain pushes again into parts of Northern England,
01:27then into eastern Scotland.
01:28Eventually we'll see some rain this evening
01:30across eastern England,
01:31but tending to clear away from the west.
01:34So by dawn, Northern Ireland, Wales,
01:36southwest England should start to see some clearer skies.
01:39Temperatures still staying pretty high though overnight,
01:42still warm air in place.
01:43So pretty much everywhere in double digits
01:45and many places staying in the teens through the night.
01:48So not a cold start to Thursday,
01:50a fairly glum one for east Anglia,
01:52the southeast of England, northeast England,
01:54and much of northeast Scotland
01:55with outbreaks of rain lingering
01:57in that far northeastern corner until around lunchtime.
02:00And most of the day, in fact, in Shetland.
02:02But elsewhere, it brightens up quite nicely actually.
02:05And for many, it's a good looking day.
02:07There will be a sprinkling of showers
02:09dotted across Northern Ireland, southwest Scotland,
02:12maybe one or two for Wales and western England
02:13come the afternoon.
02:14But they will be well scattered, much of the day dry,
02:18some good spars of sunshine,
02:19perhaps a bit more high clouds spilling back
02:21in towards east Anglia and the southeast later on.
02:23But overall, a fine autumnal feel.
02:26And although it won't be as warm and humid as today,
02:30temperatures will still be above average
02:31getting up to the mid or even high teens
02:34across the southeast.
02:36A bit breezy come the afternoon
02:37across Wales and southwest England
02:39as we see a few more showers drifting in here
02:41through the course of the evening
02:43and a few more getting going over southwest Scotland
02:46and northwest England too.
02:47But again, many places will stay fine.
02:49Just need to watch this area of rain,
02:50looks like sticking away from the far southeast.
02:53Many places having a dry end to Thursday.
02:56Notice behind me though, there is a line of rain.
02:57That's a weather front approaching
02:59from this large area of low pressure,
03:01I should say, heading up towards Iceland.
03:03The isobars squidging together as well.
03:05So some potentially strong winds
03:07across the far northwest on Friday,
03:09coupled with some high tides,
03:11that could cause a few issues.
03:12And then look at this,
03:13an intensifying area of low pressure.
03:15This one really does need watching.
03:17This is for Sunday coming in.
03:18Again, a lot of isobars on the chart,
03:20a spell of wet and potentially very windy weather
03:24during the second half of the weekend.
03:26One we'll be keeping a very close eye on.
03:29Aidan will have more on that in the 10-day trend forecast.
03:32That'll be available on our YouTube channels
03:34by Wednesday afternoon.
