00:00Hello there and welcome to your Weekend Outlook. This is recorded on Thursday 19th March and
00:05here are your headlines for the weekend. It's a chilly weekend with frost by night, by day
00:11we should see some sunshine and it will be mostly dry but there will be a significant
00:16wind chill particularly on Saturday along the eastern side of the country. High pressure
00:20in charge through the weekend but it will drift towards Scandinavia and that will introduce
00:25this easterly drift and as you can see on this eastern side that's where we'll see the
00:28lowest temperatures. This weather front here down towards the south continues to feed in
00:33cloud perhaps a little bit of showery rain but generally speaking much of the country
00:39will be under clearer skies and with that the cloud coming and going through the day
00:43but broken cloud allowing some sunshine. So through Saturday you can see where the sunshine
00:49is. You can see the cloud just feeding in through the afternoon across the North Sea
00:53but it will be broken here and broken cloud further west as well. So even for Northern
00:57Ireland, Wales and the West Country you should see some brighter skies coming through and
01:02that's after a frosty start. A frosty start across many areas but that cold wind coming
01:06in from the east will mean it will feel cold particularly along this eastern coast here
01:11and yes even though temperatures will rise to around 6 to 10 degrees Celsius it could
01:16feel colder than that exposed to that breeze. But towards the west in Shelter feeling quite
01:21pleasant. West Wales getting away with a fine afternoon and temperatures in double figures
01:26here. So through Saturday night into Sunday it's pretty much a repeat performance again
01:31a fairly widespread frost. We lose a bit of a breeze across Scotland but we still remain
01:36under a brisk wind and a cold wind across eastern parts of England and then notice this
01:41weak weather system here it's a weak weather front actually could introduce some less cold
01:46air through Sunday. So let's have a look at the detail. First thing on Sunday morning
01:52dry for most. Again that breeze coming in from a cold direction. The cloud will break
01:57through the day and we'll see some sunshine coming through yet again. That's a weak weather
02:01front here and it could introduce a thicker cloud to the western side of Scotland later
02:05on. A bit of a breeze here and perhaps even some outbreaks of rain later on in the day.
02:10But notice a fine end across many areas but again exposed to that wind it will feel cold.
02:17Temperatures then typically through the afternoon 10, 11 degrees Celsius in Shelter along this
02:22east coast. Look at this 6 or 7 Celsius and perhaps some thicker clouds across the north
02:27and the west by this point. So Sunday into Monday you can see a pool of less cold air
02:32across the country. Temperatures are going to recover into next week. We lose the breeze
02:37as well so a bit of a pleasant day all round on Monday. Away from the northwest where this
02:44weather front here will introduce more cloud, some outbreaks of mostly light rain and a
02:48stronger wind particularly into Tuesday across Scotland and Northern Ireland. But it will
02:53be less cold by day. The sun has some strength in it now but by night always a chance of
02:58a frost particularly in Shelter. Obviously we'll keep you updated here at the Met Office.
03:03Stay tuned to the forecast.
