00:09New data shows coffee production in the EU increased by 15% in the last decade.
00:19On average, each European consumed around 5 kilos of coffee in 2023, according to Eurostat findings.
00:32Last year, EU coffee production hit over 2 million tonnes, including roasted, decaffeinated and substitute coffee products.
00:44Italy led the way, producing a quarter of the EU's coffee, followed by Germany, France and the Netherlands.
00:57The EU also imports around 2.7 million tonnes of coffee each year.
01:05Germany imports the most, followed by Italy, Belgium, Spain and France.
01:13Most of the EU's coffee imports last year came from Brazil and Vietnam, with Uganda also supplying a considerable amount.
