00:00There's been a lot said about Taylor Swift possibly getting younger people, hopefully
00:05getting younger people, her fans, to vote on election day.
00:09That's what Taylor said in her, when she endorsed Kamala Harris, she said everyone should do
00:14their own research and make educated choices and you should get out and vote.
00:20Alabama Barker, Travis Barker's daughter, no, she's not buying it.
00:26And she explained why she will not be voting on election day.
00:31She's 18 by the way.
00:32Yes, she can vote, but not planning to do so.
00:34Not voting isn't crazy in my opinion at all because if I don't feel like I have the exact
00:42education for what I'm voting for, how is it right for me to vote for something I'm
00:46not completely educated on?
00:48I could educate myself, but then again, why am I doing that if I genuinely really don't
00:52care?
00:53I just turned 18.
00:54I never voted before.
00:55I do have an opinion.
00:56I have an opinion on what I feel is right because of what I've been seeing and just
01:00like, I feel like one of the voters is just a mess.
01:08I mean, one of the, sorry, one of the people, the runner's candidate, see, I'm telling you,
01:14I'm not educated.
01:15I'm just, I'm a little bit stupid, like the privilege is showing, like what, because I
01:22don't want to vote.
01:23That was a lot.
01:24Wow.
01:25But she said, she didn't say a lot, but she said a lot.
01:29She did.
01:30There was a sandwich here, um, and in the middle of the sandwich, there was a lot of
01:33luncheon meat.
01:34There was a piece of bologna right in the middle when she said, I don't care.
01:38Where's this metaphor coming from?
01:39Because she had a lot to pack in there.
01:42And what she, what she ultimately said in the middle was, I don't care.
01:48That's her true.
01:49And that's her true feeling because throughout this whole video, her whole vibe was, I don't
01:53care.
01:54And she was just giving off the, the vibe of don't judge me because I don't want to
01:58vote if I don't want to vote and I, and I don't care to vote.
02:01And she said, like she's in the video, you heard her say, I'm not educated enough.
02:04And further on, she says, I don't really care to educate myself because I don't care about
02:08politics.
02:09And a lot of people actually, a lot of people actually said, you know what, I commend her
02:13for actually saying this because she's speaking what a lot of people actually feel.
02:17Okay.
02:18And I don't doubt that there are large numbers of young people who feel, and maybe even older
02:23people feel the same way.
02:24There are all sorts of people.
02:26And I guess that's the message that you would hope people understand is that it's not, look
02:31past what you may view as buffoonery by either candidate and understand that the, they are
02:37talking about things.
02:39These are people, and not just the presidential candidates, but candidates for Senate, for
02:44Congress, for your local city council.
02:47Dude, if she doesn't know about the presidential race, she's not going to know about Congress.
02:52She doesn't know.
02:53Okay.
02:54She doesn't know the word candidate.
02:55Hold on.
02:56Hold on.
02:57She couldn't figure out the word candidate.
02:58Hold on.
02:59So she's now responded to the backlash because there obviously was a lot of backlash.
03:02Right.
03:03She says, I acknowledge that during a recent live stream, I mistakenly mentioned next year's
03:07election.
03:08How did that, how was that mistakenly?
03:09Next year.
03:10Yeah.
03:11I realized elections occur every four years and I understand how this may appear insensitive
03:16or uninformed.
03:17I am committed to educating myself further on this matter.
03:20What did she just say?
03:23She just said a whole bunch of nothing and her PR person said a whole bunch of everything
03:26because this clearly was not written by Alabama.
03:29This is not how she feels.
03:30You should know she did not come up with this.
03:32She said it because she had to, because people felt like it was very irresponsible and privileged
03:37of her to go on a live stream and say, I don't care to vote when voting is very important.
03:42So she had to put something out.
03:43But if you think for a second that she wrote this and she actually feels like this or she
03:47feels like she made a mistake, you're wrong.
03:50She absolutely wrote it because it aligns with what she said in the first place.
03:55I just think, look, it is important and people should educate themselves.
03:59If you choose not to, please don't encourage others to follow suit.
04:04She didn't really encourage, she was just giving her opinion.
04:06But don't talk about it.
04:07If you're not going to vote, then just don't talk about it and that's fine.
04:10Don't make it, try to make it seem cool to not be informed because it's not.
04:16This is Jamie from Nashville, Tennessee.
04:18As a woman, it breaks my heart to know that another female is not exercising her right
04:23to vote.
04:24That is a privilege we should never take for granted.
04:27But I also don't blame Alabama or any other 18 year old who grew up in Calabasas for not
04:33understanding the importance of voting in a presidential election.
04:37I hope a strong, educated woman in Alabama's life steps up to the plate and helps her understand
04:42why she should vote because she still has a few weeks left to change her tune.
04:46And I hope that she does.
04:47Thanks, guys.
04:48You just said something that, I'm sorry, I'm not buying this.
04:51And Alabama said it too, that she was saying, well, I know I'm privileged and everything
04:54else.
04:55And you say she grew up in Calabasas.
04:56Well, somebody who grows up in Calabasas and they're rich and everything else, that doesn't
05:01mean they shouldn't vote or are less likely to vote.
05:05As a matter of fact, I think if you look at the demographics, those people are probably
05:09more likely to vote.
05:11Well, hopefully because they're being, hopefully they're getting a good education, right?
05:15So the whole privilege thing, it's the opposite.
05:20That's when more people do vote.
05:21So I don't get the whole thing.
