00:00there's quite a bit of street flooding here kind of making its way into some of these buildings
00:03behind me it appears this goes all the way down uh down the road here into the neighborhood there
00:08were just some emergency crews down there some fire trucks and police officers uh apparently
00:13helping out so they just took off but yep long uh long road ahead to get back to normal here
00:21on our being in sarasota uh have you seen anyone out or do you think the people who
00:25have stayed put are respecting what a lot of officials are saying with just to stay indoors
00:30right now there are many people out and about you hope that they have some relatively urgent
00:36business to attend to rather than just going sightseeing because obviously with the recovery
00:42efforts just getting underway we do need to try to keep those roads as clear as possible
00:47all right connor so looking at the uh conditions out there you know we talked about some of the
00:52worst conditions now how would you rate as far as the overall impacts that you have seen here
00:57not just for milton but compared comparing milton to other hurricanes as far as the flooding
01:02the storm surge and the wind damage how would you rate what you have seen so far from milton
01:08it's significant i've seen some pretty intense hurricanes i was in panama city beach area for
01:14hurricane michael in 2018 the category 5 so it can be tough to compare to something like that but
01:20one other thing to note is that this part of florida is really built pretty well to withstand
01:25these kinds of storms so even with a pretty intense storm like the one that we saw yesterday
01:30fortunately you don't send them tend to see too much damage to the buildings themselves i've seen
01:35some minor roof damage some uh tingles missing from some from some buildings some sheet metal
01:40roofs torn off things like that but overall the structural damage seems relatively uh relatively
01:47contained limited to some of those weaker structures so it it was a good it was a
01:51good intense hurricane here but you know they weathered it okay
