00:23Authorities arrested 38 Chinese nationals in an isolated resort
00:277 kilometers from the National Highway in Barangay Saavedra
00:30during a raid by the police regional Office 7.
00:33The operation uncovered numerous electronic devices, including laptops and over 200 cell phones.
00:39Lieutenant-Colonel Gerald A. Espalade stated,
00:41the raid is part of a broader crackdown on illegal activities,
00:44particularly targeting POGOs and similar operations.
00:50A cumulative impact assessment for the Manila Bay reclamation project,
00:54previously suspended by the Office of the President,
00:56is expected in November, according to DE&R Secretary Maria Antonio Yulo Loizaga.
01:01This assessment will evaluate the project's engineering suitability
01:05and its potential impacts with collaboration from a regional planner.
01:09Loizaga mentioned that a 3D visualization of the impacts
01:12will be produced for decision-makers and affected communities.
01:17The country produces 2.7 million metric tons of plastic waste annually,
01:21ranking third globally.
01:22Single-use plastics pose environmental and health risks,
01:25with studies showing the presence of microplastics in human brains.
01:29The Department of Science and Technology, or DOS,
01:31is collaborating with SM Investment Corporation
01:34to develop sustainable materials and waste management strategies.
01:40The Commission on Higher Education, or CHED,
01:42reported an increase in globally ranked Philippine higher education institutions,
01:46or HEIs, in the 2025 Times Higher Education, or THE,
01:50World University ranking with six HEIs, listed up from five.
01:54Ateneo de Manila University ranked 1,001 to 1,200,
01:58and the University of the Philippines placed 1,201 to 1,500.
02:03Meanwhile, De La Salle University, Mapua University, Mindanao State University,
02:08Iligan Institute of Technology, and the University of Santo Tomas
02:11all ranked at 1,501 plus.
02:14The CHED noted a 67.3% rise in ranked HEIs from 52 to 87.
02:20Floyd Brands, from the National TV Network, for a new and better Philippines.
