00:00Google Pixel 7 versus Google Pixel 7a.
00:04In this video, I'm going to compare them
00:06in every single way possible
00:08to find out which one of them is the better phone
00:11and therefore which one you should buy.
00:13As always, we're going to start
00:15by talking a little bit about prices,
00:17where as you can see,
00:18there is a noticeable difference between the two phones.
00:21The Google Pixel 7 is much more expensive,
00:24which will make sense because it is a better phone,
00:28but I'm not really sure if it is that much better
00:30to justify this big of a price difference.
00:33But anyways, let's move on to the design,
00:35a feature that, at least at a first glance,
00:39is pretty much identical in both phones.
00:41They both have the same shapes, the same colors,
00:44the same style, and if I were to show you both
00:46six feet apart from your eyes,
00:48it would be impossible to tell them apart.
00:51But that being said, of course, they are not identical.
00:55There is a big difference in construction quality
00:58between the two because the Pixel 7
01:00is built out of aluminum and glass,
01:02which makes it feel very good in your hands,
01:04and the Pixel 7a is built out of plastic,
01:08very cheap-feeling plastic.
01:11Most people don't care, I know.
01:13Most people are going to put a case on the phone
01:15so the materials used to build the phone become irrelevant
01:18because they're not going to feel them in their hands.
01:20But for that small group of people like me
01:23who like to touch the phone naked
01:27and feel the materials, we're geeks, we like these things,
01:31then the Pixel 7 is a way better option
01:33because it does feel a lot better in your hands.
01:36But anyways, let's move on
01:37to the juicy part of this comparison.
01:39Let's talk about the processor,
01:41which, funny enough, is the exact same one in both phones.
01:45They both have the G2 chip,
01:47which is the latest and greatest processor
01:49made by Google for Google phones,
01:52and that is a big leap forward
01:54as opposed to the old G1 chip from last year.
01:57Although, everything said,
01:59if we compare it to the other processors in the competition,
02:03you can see it lacks a little bit more than it should.
02:06For everyday tasks and to play 3D games,
02:09it is more than enough,
02:10and there won't be any situations
02:12where you find yourself limited by the phone's performance,
02:15but undeniably, it is very far behind the Apple alternative
02:21and the Samsung alternative,
02:23which maybe will not be noticeable right now,
02:26but in a couple of years, when apps become more demanding,
02:29games become more demanding, the OS becomes more demanding,
02:32then you will probably notice a big difference
02:35between the Pixel 7 and the 7a
02:37and the other alternatives from the competition.
02:40But anyways, let's keep talking about the differences.
02:43The Google Pixel 7a has a 90-hertz OLED display
02:47with a slightly above 1080p resolution,
02:50and the Pixel 7 has a 90-hertz OLED display
02:54with a slightly above 1080p resolution, the same specs,
02:58although it is a little bit smaller at 6.1 inches.
03:01The only real difference between the two
03:03is that the Pixel 7 has a slightly stronger glass
03:07in the front panel than the 7a.
03:10It is not huge, it is not a deal breaker,
03:13but technically, if you drop both phones,
03:16the Pixel 7 is a little bit more likely
03:19to survive the drop than the Pixel 7a.
03:21What has, in fact, surprised me a lot
03:24is that the Pixel 7a,
03:26despite having the exact same display, technically,
03:29and the same processor,
03:31doesn't have the same battery life as the Pixel 7.
03:34As you can see here, it gets a little bit better results,
03:37around 5% more, to be precise,
03:40which, sure, it is a small difference
03:42that may be due to external factors,
03:44like the 5G modem or the internet connection,
03:47the software update,
03:48but it is a noticeable existing difference.
03:51And if you're interested
03:52on having the best battery life possible,
03:54it is something you should probably consider.
03:57And, well, that being said,
03:58let's move on to the most important part
04:01of this comparison, the cameras,
04:03which are cameras that,
04:05when it comes to the exterior design,
04:07look practically identical,
04:09and they both have about the same megapixel count,
04:11but that are not the same.
04:13There is a big difference between these two cameras
04:16that Google doesn't want to talk about too much,
04:18but that makes a very big difference
04:20in terms of picture quality,
04:22and it's that the Pixel 7 has a bigger sensor,
04:25both on the main camera and on the ultra-wide camera,
04:28which means a lot of good things.
04:30It means that more light gets into the sensor,
04:32that there's bigger pixels,
04:34so there's more sharpness and colors are more accurate,
04:37and there's more shallow depth of field, more bokeh effect.
04:40But anyways, that being said, let's begin,
04:43as always, by talking about the main camera
04:45on these two phones.
04:46As always, I'm going to show you pictures,
04:47the same picture on both phones,
04:48with some nice background music,
04:50zooming in so you can see the details,
04:52and then I'll come back to give you my conclusions
04:54about the differences and which one is better
04:56and how better it is.
04:58Let's go.
05:29♪ Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh,
05:59oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
06:29so I was going to record this video because this one also has a bigger sensor on the pixel 7
06:34but it is not proportionately not as big of a difference as the one we saw on the main sensor
06:39so the differences are probably not going to be as big but let's find out let's go
07:29Okay, okay, that was exactly what I was expecting.
07:40Smaller differences, but differences nonetheless, as you saw, it also has better colors.
07:45It also has a little bit, a little bit more depth of field and it is visually sharper.
07:51That is, I think the biggest difference that I've noticed is that the Pixel 7 is very sharp.
07:56It is very, very sharp.
07:58And the Pixel 7a is so, so sharp, but not as much.
08:01As you can see, I'm recording right now with the selfie camera, selfie camera on both phones,
08:05which is practically identical.
08:07This is the camera where I've seen the least differences between the two.
08:11It is, it is almost undistinguishable and it makes sense because they both have the
08:16same, I think it's not the same sensor, but it's the same size.
08:19So yeah, it is, it is the same.
08:22It is the same.
08:23If you just want to take selfies, doesn't matter.
08:25But if you want to take photos or videos with the main sensor or the ultra wide sensor,
08:29then as you saw earlier, it does make sense for you to buy the Pixel 7 as opposed to the
08:347a.
08:35So yeah, summarizing the Pixel 7 has better materials, a better display and better cameras,
08:41but it is also noticeably more expensive.
08:44I think at the end of the day, it all comes down to the cameras.
08:47That is the biggest difference between these two phones and that's what's going to make
08:51some people go for the 7 and the 7a.
08:53If you want prime quality Google Pixel cameras, camera quality, pictures, videos, you should
09:01go for the Pixel 7, but if you want a Google Pixel phone because you want the clean Android
09:07experience and you don't really care that much about the cameras, maybe the 7a is a
09:12better option.
09:13It is noticeably cheaper and besides the camera, there's not that big of a difference.
09:17In fact, the 7a has a slightly better battery life.
09:19Whatever you do, doesn't matter.
09:21They're both amazing phones and they both have very, very, very, very good prices on
09:27Amazon.
09:28I left direct links in the description and I highly recommend you click those links because
09:33those prices are insane.
