00:00What's up guys, so I got a quick discussion video for you guys.
00:03So I've been using the Galaxy S22 Ultra, the iPhone 14 Pro, and then the Pixel 7 Pro recently
00:11for a little bit.
00:12And I want to go ahead and just do a quick little comparison of these guys so I can sort
00:16of break down the difference, because these are very different takes on the flagship experience
00:22for each phone.
00:23So I'm going to go ahead and highlight what each phone does great, and it sort of becomes
00:29cons for the other phones and stuff like that.
00:31So let's go ahead and just jump into it.
00:33First off, these phones are all crazy expensive.
00:36Pixel $900, the 14 $1,000, I believe the S22 Ultra still hovering around $1,000 and stuff
00:44like that.
00:45So these are very expensive phones here.
00:48So as far as the design here, I actually prefer the Pixel's design actually, as far as it
00:56being a more comfortable device.
00:58I really like what Google did this year with this phone.
01:02And it's the only phone here that does not have that extremely boxy feel that kind of
01:08cuts into the hand.
01:11It is one of the phones that I can say is actually pretty comfortable to hold here.
01:16And yeah, I absolutely love it.
01:17And the S22 Ultra and the 14 Pro, they both have these super boxy feels in the hand, especially
01:26the S22 Ultra.
01:27It's super boxy, cuts into the hand, and it's just not as comfortable as holding a phone
01:32with very smooth edges on it.
01:36And I'll give you an example, a phone that I absolutely love, dear to my heart, the OnePlus
01:427 Pro.
01:43Even though this is a big phone, and I'm not a huge fan of big phones, as you guys can
01:46see it curves, and it's still extremely comfortable in the hand.
01:50This is one of the most comfortable big phones for me, because it's just such thin bezels
01:55and stuff like that.
01:56But I absolutely love this phone, the way it feels.
01:58So when I transitioned from this phone to these phones, I noticed like super, super
02:03uncomfortable.
02:04But yeah, like I said, as far as the designs, all of these phones have some beautiful designs.
02:10They're all glass and metal devices, all IP68, dust and water resistant.
02:15Absolutely beautiful designs here.
02:17All right, so let's go ahead and talk about the display experience on these phones.
02:22So really all of these phones have beautiful displays, but if I was going to give a winner
02:26to who had the best display, 100% would be the S22 Ultra here.
02:31It is an absolute beautiful display.
02:35So 6.8 inches, it's 1440p, and it just does a beautiful job with the display design.
02:43It's a very bright display, but not the brightest.
02:46The iPhone is actually the brightest display here at 2000 nits peak brightness.
02:51This is like 1750.
02:54But the thing that I love about this display is just look at how thin the bezels are on
02:59the S22 Ultra.
03:00And if you guys have seen the leaks, the S23 Ultra is even going to have slimmer bezels
03:06than this.
03:07Samsung's able to get it even slimmer here, and I believe they're going to slim the bottom
03:11down too.
03:12So it just feels like you're holding a beautiful screen in your hand, super vibrant colors
03:19on here.
03:20It is just absolutely a beautiful experience.
03:22Every time I look at this display, it is just beautiful.
03:26Just how it pops and colors and how it's got this edge-to-edge panel.
03:30It does look really, really awesome here.
03:33And the Pixel has a pretty similar display.
03:36Again, not as bright as the S22 Ultra's display, but it's a 1440p display, and it's actually
03:43got a curved display.
03:45Now it has a little bit more bezel than the Pixel, but it looks similar.
03:50One of the things that I noticed is that the punch hole is a slight bit bigger, and like
03:55I said, the bezels are just not as thin as the S22 Ultra.
03:59It is a very little, petty thing.
04:01Most people are like, I can't barely tell, Matt, but yeah, if you look closely, you can.
04:06But yeah, I do like the S22 Ultra's display, and I'm excited for the next generation of
04:11this because it's going to be an even thinner and even brighter display.
04:14The one thing that the iPhone does basically better over the S22 Ultra and the Pixel is
04:20that it's just brighter display.
04:23It's just crazy bright outdoors.
04:25I mean, it is ridiculous.
04:28And also, guys, Apple has done something pretty clever with their punch hole.
04:32Even though the punch hole is still, I would say, it's got to be five of the punch holes
04:38on the S22 Ultra and Pixel, what Apple has done here is they introduced this little
04:44dynamic island feature here, and I'll go ahead and show you guys.
04:51So you're playing music, you can see it plays in the background if I'm in another application
04:56or something like that, and let me show you guys something else.
05:02So like, if I open up the timer, or open up the clock, and some of you guys might like
05:12it, you might not, and now you can see the timer is now going as well, but it also, like
05:19I said, I can go into another application, and it's like an easy way to multitask.
05:26You guys can see there.
05:30So Apple has done like a little nice little clever thing, which I actually really like.
05:34I like the way that they're doing multitasking on here, but definitely I love the displays
05:41on these devices.
05:42All right, so let's talk about what is each company trying to sell me on, right?
05:47What are they trying to sell me on as far as the software experience?
05:51That's a huge thing, right?
05:53Samsung is trying to sell you on, one, the S Pen, right?
05:57And this comes down to personal preference.
05:59They're trying to sell you on the S Pen, jotting down notes, navigating with your S Pen.
06:04The S Pen has a ton of little features and stuff on it, if you guys want to check out
06:09my video I did on all the tips.
06:11But I love this.
06:12If you're going to a grocery store, you just like need to jot down a list, because I'm
06:15one of those people that always forget something at the store.
06:18Jot down a list real quick, or even just navigating.
06:20It just has this really fancy luxury feeling to it.
06:23There's also just small little cool stuff.
06:25So if you are into content creation, or if you're just one of those people that like
06:29take pictures by yourself, you put this on a tripod, hit the button, boom.
06:35It takes a picture, so you can go really far distance, because it's Bluetooth.
06:39It's a very cool little feature to have.
06:40I know a lot of people that really like the S Pen.
06:44Not only that, but Samsung has so much going on in terms of the advanced features, and
06:51just settings in general.
06:53You can do so much.
06:54They have Samsung desktop support, which is extremely slept on.
06:57No one talks about it.
06:58It's extremely good.
07:00You can basically beam this into your smart TV, or to a monitor, turn it into a full-on
07:06computer for the most part, which is absolutely nuts.
07:09They got a secure folder in here.
07:11Now what does Apple want to sell you on?
07:14Apple basically wants to sell you on the fact that FaceTime and iMessage are superior than
07:21pretty much anything that we have on Android, and not really, I would say FaceTime for the
07:27most part, because Google Duo is actually pretty good.
07:30I use it with my sister, but iMessage is in a league of its own compared to what you get
07:34on Android.
07:35It's just a way better messaging platform, way more features.
07:38It's just better, so Apple wants to sell you on that fact first.
07:42Second, Apple wants to sell you on the fact that these phones are way better at getting
07:48updates.
07:49This phone will have a longer lifespan than the Pixel and the S22 Ultra, so this probably
07:55will have a seven to eight year major OS upgrade, while the S22 Ultra, I believe Samsung said
08:02four to five years or something like that, and the Pixel gets like a three, maybe four,
08:09but it's still nowhere near close.
08:10If you buy any of these phones, this phone is going to last the longest when it comes
08:14to getting major OS updates, so Apple wants to sell you on the fact that the overall update
08:18experience is going to be better on an iPhone as well, too, and also Apple wants to sell
08:23you on the fact that the integration is really tight with iPhones, so if you have a MacBook,
08:28iPad, all the devices sort of mesh together really well, so that's one thing that Apple
08:34definitely wants to sell its users on, so that's one thing to think about.
08:37If you have a MacBook and you have like a iPad, it's really hard to like, it's almost
08:45impossible to like switch to an iPhone, or switch to an Android, so you're kind of like
08:49forced to buy a iPhone.
08:52What is the Pixel trying to sell me on here?
08:56Google is basically trying to sell you on the same thing that Apple is trying to sell
08:58you on is software, so basically the Pixel is just extremely smooth.
09:03This is how you really want Android, no bloatware, no double applications, smooth animations,
09:10so Google did a good job this year because this phone doesn't have a ton of bugs like
09:13last year's launch, and it just flies through Android, and also Google just has such a tight
09:20integration as far as the Google Assistant here is just built into the phone, right?
09:25It's just built into the phone flawlessly.
09:27Speech to text is great on here.
09:29The camera software on here is really awesome as well too.
09:33I personally think this takes some of the best photos, in my opinion, out of the bunch
09:38here, so Google is trying to sell you on the fact that they have one of the best cameras
09:43in any Android smartphone, and also you get a very tight and clean version of Android
09:48as well too, so this is what Google wants Android to look like, and it does work.
09:54It is a very nice, clean experience.
09:56All right, guys, so I wanted to go ahead and talk about the image quality here or the cameras.
10:02Which phone has the best camera?
10:05It basically ... It could come down to several things here, but as far as the camera system
10:13goes, it's hands down the S22 Ultra.
10:15I personally ... If I could only use one phone I had to choose for the cameras, it would
10:20be the S22 Ultra because this is the phone that I have to do the least amount of editing
10:24with, and also I just think this has the most cameras, so you just get the most ... It's
10:32like the versatility of the cameras, right?
10:35You get this crazy good zoom quality, so if you do a lot of zoom shots on this phone,
10:3930 times zoom looks excellent on this phone, 10 times zoom looks excellent on this phone.
10:44This phone even has 100 times zoom on it as well too.
10:46We got a macro mode, I can shoot in 8K.
10:50The video, I actually really love.
10:52I actually prefer video on the S22 Ultra over the iPhone's video, which a lot of people
10:57are shocked by, but one of the things that the iPhone has a heads up in is that it is
11:04able to do social media better for some reason like that.
11:08I don't know, Instagram and social media apps are better optimized.
11:11I think they fixed it for Snapchat, but for other applications, stuff like that, it's
11:16not as good, but back to the S22 Ultra, the 108 megapixel lens is just awesome on here.
11:23Crazy detailed shots.
11:24It is just a very impressive camera system when it comes to image quality, and Apple,
11:30a lot of people would say this is the best camera because it is probably the most consistent
11:35between the lenses.
11:36We talk about just switching and zooming and uploading to social media, it's more consistent
11:43with video.
11:45The ultra wide video on here is way, not even close.
11:49The pixel in S22 Ultra, not even close to the ultra wide video on here, and just stuff
11:54like that.
11:55I do think the iPhone has a more complete package when it comes to video camera on here.
12:00Even though I find myself having to edit photos, I get really dark, not dark, but these
12:06really gray type of photos that I've seen other people complain about as well too.
12:11What a lot of you guys don't know is a lot of the pictures that you see, a lot of the
12:15people, they have to edit the photos on this phone because it can come out and give you
12:20some weird colored shots.
12:22They do a lot of editing, and I find myself not having to edit photos as much on the S22
12:28Ultra or the Pixel.
12:29If I had to choose one phone for just straight up steals, it would be the Pixel easily.
12:34This phone gets skin tones much better for people of color and stuff like that.
12:39I'm glad Google recognized that because if like the iPhone, it gives you that really
12:42gray weird look, the Pixel does a good job of getting your skin tone right.
12:48The Galaxy actually does even a good job as well too.
12:52The Pixel, the steals, just high dynamic range, it has this really nice Google image processing
12:58where it just gives you this really sharp, really nice photo, good night time photos
13:03on here.
13:04But like I said, the Pixel, you couldn't say it's the best because video actually kind
13:09of sucks on the Pixel, right?
13:11It's worse than the S22 Ultra, and it's definitely worse than the iPhone.
13:15Definitely Google needs to fix that, but when it comes to steals, I just love how this phone
13:19takes steals.
13:20It's absolutely beautiful.
13:22If I had to take one phone to take steals with, just straight up, point and click, snap,
13:28it would definitely be the Pixel, easy, easy.
13:30All right, so talking about the power of these phones, and as you can see, Apple just has
13:36better hardware to software optimization, so it's always going to have a leg up in
13:41the Geekbench scores and N22 scores and stuff like that.
13:45So it is going to be the better optimized phone essentially, but like I said, for general
13:50usage, you really won't notice too much of a difference in terms of speed, just launching
13:54applications and stuff like that.
13:56It's going to be pretty much the same on these devices.
13:59As far as the gaming experience, all of these phones do an excellent job with gaming, but
14:03I would definitely say the Pixel's probably the worst optimized because it's a newer chip.
14:08It doesn't perform as well as the S22 Ultra or the iPhone.
14:12So definitely if you're a gamer, I would be leaning towards these two devices.
14:17And for maximum power, if you're like an actual really hardcore gamer, the iPhone
14:21is going to give you that better performance in terms of benchmarks and stuff like that.
14:28You're just going to be able to have more consistent FPS.
14:32As far as battery life, the battery life actually is very good on all of these phones.
14:37I can easily get a full day's use out of all of these phones as well too, so that is really
14:43nice.
14:44One thing that the Android phones have is that they have reverse wireless charging,
14:48which is something that I really like, so that's definitely beneficial.
14:53iPhone does have the MagSafe charging, which is okay.
14:57But yeah, so that pretty much sums up.
14:59I really enjoyed my experience with all of these phones.
15:02They're very different experiences, but they all offer kind of like a unique experience.
15:09So be sure to let me know what do you guys think, and I'll catch you guys in the next
15:12one.
