00:00But advertising is going to be our focus as we begin this morning.
00:02Thanks for coming on the show.
00:04Yeah, thanks.
00:05And as a Jets and Yankees fan myself, in a bit of a blender here, obviously, over the
00:12last handful of hours, the technology not necessarily cooperating either.
00:16But like you said, Craig, some advertising changes, maybe, if that's what you want to
00:23call it, happening in New York.
00:25Governor Kathy Hochul signing a bill into law last week, really codifying a lot of the
00:34sports betting advertising rules into state law last week with this bill signing.
00:41And what this ultimately means is that it just takes the sports betting advertising
00:46regulations and essentially makes them permanent.
00:50So the sportsbooks were already following all of these rules.
00:55Everybody has been in compliance with these for forever, really, since mobile sports betting
01:01launched in January of 2022.
01:04And the requirement still remains that the problem gambling helpline needs to be in
01:11all sorts of advertising, whether in print, online, or over the air, on television, social
01:19media as well.
01:21And the advertisement has to have that hope line, the New York problem gambling hope line,
01:28as it's called, in a legible font and of the right size.
01:34So really, this comes in on the heels of, I should say, it really comes on the heels
01:40of a lot of other states really focusing on their advertising rules.
01:46We've seen Ohio do a lot with their advertising rules for sports betting apps.
01:52We've also seen Massachusetts do a lot with their advertising rules as well.
02:00And even so, Craig, like we've talked about over the last couple of months a few times,
02:04there's now federal legislation that is putting sports betting advertisements under the microscope
02:10with that Safe Bet Act from New York Congressman Paul Tonko that wants to limit where sports
02:19betting ads can be placed and at what times they can be shown to potentially avoid any
02:24underage audiences.
02:26So certainly not a huge change in New York, but sports betting regulations around advertisements
02:34now made permanent in state law, Craig.
