00:00The Senior Citizen Sector of the National Anti-Poverty Commission called for support
00:06to increase their pensions under the Universal Social Pension Act of 2024.
00:12In the program Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon, Salvation Basiano mentioned
00:16the sectoral representative of the NAPSEA Senior Citizen Sector
00:21that the 1,000 pesos pension received by senior citizens is not enough.
00:27It is now said that the purchase of inflation will help them
00:33to increase their needs to 2,500 pesos.
00:38The law is not yet in effect, but if the budget is increased to P70 billion,
00:46the government needs to fill it so that it can be given.
00:50If this will happen, it will help to buy the basic needs of the elderly
00:56such as medicine and other maintenance.
00:58The Senior Citizen Sector said that 40% of the government's annual savings
01:05will be from the General Appropriations Act.
01:09We are not interested in 40%.
01:12All the benefits that the senior citizens are asking for,
01:19our government can afford.
