00:00Here we go.
00:16And straight away, Rickleton underway, caressing that ball through point for four.
00:22It's a good start.
00:27That one is across the left-hander, and Rickleton takes advantage.
00:31It was upish, but it was into the gap.
00:34It's gone for four.
00:35Rickleton's second boundary, two overs gone, 11 without loss.
00:44There's that shot through extra cover again from Rickleton.
00:49It's the same result as two previous ones.
00:52His third boundary of the day.
00:59He's got that.
01:00That'll be a boundary.
01:01Nice intent again from Di Zorzi.
01:08This could be the breakthrough.
01:09He should be able to get underneath.
01:10It does comfortably, and there it is.
01:13There is the breakthrough.
01:14So he was using his feet, and then Marguerite said, uh-uh, you just stay in your crease.
01:18He gave him a tester, and proved to break this partnership.
01:23But a good bit of thinking again from Adair.
01:28He really is a thinking man's bowler.
01:30He's known that Di Zorzi's come down the wicket at him a few times.
01:34This one he whacks in.
01:35It just rushes Di Zorzi.
01:37Tony Di Zorzi goes for 12, South Africa 31 for one.
01:42Oh, that's nicely played.
01:47Young will be disappointed with that, having to change to the right-handed batter.
01:51Just offers a little bit of width.
01:53Timbers onto it.
01:54Strong square of the wicket.
01:57Oh, he backs it up with exactly the right length, exactly the right line, and overgoes
02:04the top of off.
02:05The ideal length for a fast bowler.
02:10Just a little bit of movement off a length, back into the right-handed Bavuma.
02:15Early on in the innings, you don't want these sorts of deliveries.
02:18Bavuma's got one.
02:20And Ireland have South Africa in trouble early on here.
02:24That's an experienced man.
02:25That's a good performer in one-day cricket.
02:27Bavuma goes for four, South Africa 36 for two.
02:30Edged, gone, easy as you like.
02:35Balbirnie mops it up at slip, and Ireland have a third.
02:42Testing line, draws Van Der Doosan forward.
02:45Andy Balbirnie in second slip, takes a decent catch, pretty good height though.
02:52Mops up.
02:53They enjoyed that one, three down now.
02:57He goes without scoring, South Africa 39 for three.
03:04Loose ball.
03:05Forget about the loose shot, that was a short one and down leg side, and Stubbs was all
03:08over it for a boundary.
03:13Goes on a sweep, I think he got something on him, there was a bit of a noise as it went
03:16past, and I don't think that's bars, I don't think it's wide, it's four runs.
03:23Oh, and that's just over the fielder's head as well, I think it's Graham Hume down there
03:31at long on.
03:32Gone for six, and that's a stiff old ball, a loosener from Hume, and it gets the treatment
03:44from Tristan Stubbs, a thumping six.
03:49Oh, that's all the way, that is a good strike, a good hit by Stubbs, and takes him, 43.
04:02Straight, and long, power from Rickleton.
04:12Now he goes leg side, this is a real strength of Rickleton, and is this the moment that
04:16South Africa say enough now, it's time to get on with it.
04:21Oh, nicely played, very clever.
04:25The wrong-and-picked touch, beaten that man at backward point, he's timed it well enough
04:36as well.
04:37Now that brings up the 100 partnership, uses his feet and crashes that one away down the
04:46ground, that should go the whole way, and that's a wonderful strike from Stubbs, brings
04:50up the 150 for South Africa.
04:55Rickleton sweeps very well, it's the placement that's so key, he would have been aware that
04:59anything he could get behind square on that leg side would go away to the fence, and that's
05:03why there's a little raw smile.
05:06McBride comes on, and straight away, gets hit down the ground, so welcome back into
05:11the attack, Andy McBride.
05:18Slower ball, short ball, it's been clobbered through mid-wicket for four.
05:24And on ceremony, Tristan Stubbs.
05:30McBride strikes, oh, what a big wicket that is for Ireland, and Rickleton, in sight of
05:37a maiden international 100 departs, vital breakthrough for the Irish, and McBride gets
05:44it, heartbreak for Rickleton.
05:47Throws the hands out, wasn't expecting this delivery, didn't get close enough, hits the
05:51bottom of the bat, and cannons onto the stumps, just what Ireland needed, they've needed it
05:56for a while, truth be told.
05:58Needed to break this partnership, it's just past the 150 mark, Tristan Stubbs disappointed
06:02for his team-mate.
06:03A 91 from 102 for Ryan Rickleton, South Africa, 191 for four.
06:11Out, what a good catch by Balbirnie, that was hit hard, low and to his right, the former
06:21captain grabbing hold of that one, Stubbs can't believe it, but I'll tell you what,
06:26he's got to head back to the pavilion.
06:31Adair brought back to make the breakthrough, Stubbs didn't go up, didn't go down, just
06:36went catchable height to Andy Balbirnie, that's a sharp catch, but again, perfect technique
06:42from Andy Balbirnie, that's his second catch, Tristan Stubbs, he goes for 79 from 86, and
06:48that's South Africa now, 198 for five, down the leg side.
06:55Out again, Balbirnie again, Adair again, South Africa's six down, Ben Lequeu, the all-rounder
07:05goes.
07:09Well it's a different batter, but the same two, bowler and catcher, as the last wicket,
07:14an even easier catch, and that's what you see from the reaction of Andy Balbirnie, Ben
07:19Lequeu goes for just one, South Africa 201 for six.
07:27And taken.
07:30Harry Tector in the deep, Vian Mulder just helped himself, helped the ball on its way
07:35to the man at deep mid-wicket.
07:38That is not an ideal time to get out for the South African all-rounder.
07:42Craig Young sticking to his plans, pace off into the surface, setting up all Vian Mulder
07:51could do, he's picking out that field there deep square, it's an excellent running catch
07:53by Tector, and that's another massive blow for South Africa, 212 for seven now.
08:03His next five, he's got that fine, Williams gets that fine, and it's a much-needed boundary
08:07for South Africa.
08:12Edged and that could go away to a fence, that's a little bonus boundary, Young will be disappointed,
08:17he's charged in and it's come off the glove, dropped well short of the keeper, but a nice
08:24way for South Africa to start the over.
08:29Oh that's nasty play, but it's not hit with enough contact, and what he does is he picks
08:34out Tector just in front of square, and when it left the bed I thought it was good enough
08:37to go, but not the case.
08:41Field is in the right position, yeah, rolling the fingers across, an excellent from Craig
08:44Young.
08:45I was with you initially, I thought it sounded good, Tector is positioned exactly where he
08:52needs to be, takes the mark, Lazard-Williams goes to 13, 229 for eight.
09:03Just as well is the shot, controls it wonderfully does Fontaine, I said he's doing a good job,
09:08and that brings up to 250 for South Africa.
09:14Oh you've got to feel Fontaine for Fontaine, it was that delivery that he bowled with great
09:20effect here in the last T20 international, the back of a link, bang it into the surface,
09:24slow ball, and Fontaine is absolutely middle there, he just had to miss the short put wicket
09:30left or right by a metre or so, but he's picked him out, and there's the Nantwicker down.
09:37Fourth catch, absolutely smokes this right out of the screws, but straight to Balberdi,
09:47a good knock from Bjorn Fontaine going for 28, 254 for nine.
09:55These strikes, and strikes brilliantly, that's as good a strike as we've seen all day.
10:03Last delivery, Bartman on strike, slow ball, and he's not going to get that far.
10:09South Africa going to finish on 271 for nine, so they did bat the full 50 overs out, and
10:16after being 39 for three, I suppose South Africa will be pretty happy with 271.
10:21Will it be enough?
10:22We'll have to wait and see, but for now, Ireland will probably not be upset as well, having
10:27been put in the field and done a really good job with the ball in hand.
10:31I'd agree with you that the bowlers were superb, it was just Rickleton and Stubbs and a bit
10:36of contributions down the order from Fontaine, Williams, and Nguiri, men's South Africa got
10:41271 for nine, I thought the bowling was superb, bowling-wise, no?
10:47Once again, Marc Adair setting the tone with a new ball, four for 50, exceptional, Craig
10:52Young I thought was excellent, good pace, good skills, nice to see Gavin Hoey make his
10:57debut not for 65, he'll have better days, but he bowled better than that, spinner Andrew
11:01McBride was tied, he won for 46.
11:04So 272 will be the target for South Africa, just under five and a half and over, so have
11:10a bit of a break, go and get yourself a bit of a coffee, a feed, a bit of food, a bit
11:14of snacks, and join us, we'll be back in about 20 minutes to see how South Africa get
11:19on.
11:27Just wonder, you know, Vernon, if both sides will view that previous innings as a bit of
11:33a missed opportunity.
11:35himself in, Sterling's gone, Nguiri strikes in the very first over, yeah, just playing
11:47away from his thumbs, a touch, no feed movement whatsoever from Paul Sterling, the captain
11:53South Africa, they wanted wickets at the top of the order, the captain in his 400 appearance
12:00for Ireland, he goes for two, Ireland three for one.
12:07Made a lovely sound off the bat there, beautifully timed by Balbirni, first boundary of the innings.
12:16The free, he's got a thick top eight and that's gone the distance.
12:26That's nicely clipped, two straight, we can't blame the one swinging before for long, that
12:31one just hasn't started his over in a good fashion and it was nicely clipped away Balbirni.
12:40Top edge and that's going to be a bonus boundary, does it go all the way, yes it does, so that's
12:43ten from the over, and Ireland cruise on to 33 for one.
12:50There's a little bit of shape dragged, just wild of Lazard Williams, that was cries of
12:56catch it from the South Africans for a brief period, but seemed to be in good control.
13:04This one could have been dragged on, but it doesn't matter, Lazard Williams is having
13:09an impact and an important one for South Africa.
13:12He put Balbirni under pressure right from the word go, he had an LBW shot that was turned
13:18down, this just nips back and he's skiddy, he's a skiddy customer and he actually deserves
13:23that one.
13:25As Andy Balbirni goes for 20, Ireland 38 for two.
13:32Edged and beats the slip and it'll make its way to the fence.
13:42That's a much better looking stroke, sounds tall, hits it on top of the banes, finds the
13:47gap through the offside, that's a second boundary but a much better looking one, one
13:52that Niall O'Brien enjoyed.
13:57Even better, that one is even better, Harry Tector, well you know he's playing well when
14:03he can play these ones down the ground, sometimes he can play around the pad, not on this occasion,
14:07straight back past Williams for an even better looking boundary.
14:11A bit of bat, I think there's a bit of bat, he's been given out, he'll think about asking
14:19the question here, Harry Tector, looked in front, was it going over, is there anything
14:24that he, he's gone upstairs.
14:33You can see why he sent it upstairs but he's got to go for 12 from nine, Ireland lose their
14:38third.
14:40Beautiful, just goes with the swing from Bartman who gets a little bit of shape away but just
14:47kisses the surface, Curtis Camford, in the air and gone.
14:57So not the partnership that Ireland wanted for their fourth wicket, he was looking really
15:02good Curtis Camford, that one maybe just holding in the pitch ever so slightly.
15:08I think it's a slight variation, it's 128k so it's not necessarily a slower ball, simple
15:15catch Tristan Stubbs, Camford going for 20, Ireland in trouble, 59 for 4.
15:24Oh another one, brilliant from O'Neill Bortman, the air is good, it's perfect, you always
15:31talk about top of F, off stump and he's managed to do it, yeah absolutely brilliant.
15:39That is where you want to stay young man, bring those stumps into play, yeah no better
15:44side for a fast bowler, when you see that off stump being knocked back, Ireland they
15:51lose their fifth, 61 for 5.
15:58That is nasty play, it's been few and far between and this could be their boundary,
16:01it's been 35 deliveries, they eventually get one away to the fence.
16:11Little bit of width and Dockrell climbs into it, that's terrific, little feather and that's
16:19out, Ngidi strikes, Adair just opening the face of the bat, trying to run it down to
16:26the third man and all he's done is run it straight into the hands of Ryan Rickleton.
16:34Easy as you like, line length, Mark Adair trying to run it down the deep third, it's
16:40a feather, you don't mind those easy catches as a keeper, toe of the bat and Lungi Ngidi
16:47who's had a really good tour of the UAE, Mark Adair's gone for 12 and Ireland are in real
16:54strife, 86 for 6.
17:01Lovely shot down the ground by George Dockrell, full face of the bat, it off quite wide, Dockrell
17:07gets another boundary.
17:09Sometimes it just comes on to you a little bit quicker, well that's a wicket, George
17:14Dockrell plays away from his body and yet again an Ireland batter plays away from the
17:19body on the offside, this time it takes the inside edge for George Dockrell who can't
17:24quite believe what he's done, it goes from bad to worse for Ireland.
17:30Saw the width, Dockrell threw his hands at it but again if we're going to be technical
17:36the left shoulder probably doesn't get across towards the ball and so Dockrell's briefston
17:43ends for 21 and Ireland now 105 for 7.
17:51That's a good shot, that's a real good shot, the finger goes up and I'm not sure they'll
17:59go upstairs, there'll be a discussion around it, McBride says no not this time, yep well
18:09turned him around and said we might as well have a look.
18:16Pitching in line, impact in line, wickets hitting, go back to Royal Enfield to stay
18:22with his original decision of out, you're on screen now please.
18:31So the review is lost and Hoey goes for one, Ireland are nearly done here they're 108 for
18:378, nearly turning the left hander however, I think the ball can go to slip off the left
18:43hander, squeezed away, there's a short ball it's going to work, oh no is it going to land
18:53in no man's land, Bartman sets himself and takes it, so the plan has worked, Zard Williams
18:59looks like he's absolutely blown, hasn't even got the energy to celebrate but he's got his
19:04fourth wicket of the evening, McBride he knew that what the plan was, it was stuck
19:09in short, top it and that's an extra running kit by Oatniel Bartman, McBride goes for 14,
19:19Ireland 114 for 9.
19:25There's another example of why he shouldn't be batting at 11, that is a brilliant strike
19:30use of the feet, third delivery and just caresses it down the ground, he's equal to
19:39the task, crashes it through the extra cover area, how good a timing was that, and all
19:49he can do is pick out Oatniel Bartman and that is the end of the Irish inning, so South
19:54Africa going to win this one by 140 runs, it's been a convincing performance by them,
20:01obviously having been 39 for 3 recovered well to post 271 and I think Ireland will be immensely
20:09disappointed in the fact that they've only managed to muster up 132, Hulme trying to
20:14use his feet, trying to go over the top but picks out Bartman, gives Fontaine his second
20:18wicket of the evening and this has been polished from the South African bowlers in particular,
20:23they did well to post the 270 plus but I would definitely say it's been down to the
20:28efforts and control and consistency of the fast bowlers in particular that South Africa
20:33get over the line.
20:36Well South Africa they won the toss, they elected to bat first, they got themselves
20:39to 271 for 9, it was that partnership between Rickleton and Stubbs, 91 and 79 respectively
20:46contributing with a bat, Mark Adair again brilliant, 4 for 50, well supported by Young
20:523 for 45 in pursuit, Ireland they were dominated with ball, that man Lazard-Williams 4 for
20:5932 really setting the tone for South Africa with that new ball and then contributes and
21:03Fontaine 2 for 28 and Geary 2 for 35 and then Mulder picking up 1 for 11.
21:09Well South Africa they're leading this 3 match series 1-0, convincing victory by 139.
