Logan Rees wins River Ness 10k
Transcript
00:0030 minutes, and this is a 5 AC vest, and this is Morgan Rees, who is the Baxter's Olympus 10K Champion.
00:11The Baxter's Rivalrous 10K Champion has won a sensational race.
00:16Congratulations Morgan, you smashed the course record today.
00:18How was it? It was good. I was happy with that.
00:23What was the course record? 29.35 before.
00:28That was my plan, but I felt good through halfway, so I was like, I'll keep up this pace.
00:33Did you take it on from the start, or did you have anybody with you?
00:36I was on my own pretty quick, I think.
00:39That was okay, I think with the K markers and stuff, it meant I could just keep track of where I was.
00:45I train on my own the whole time, so I'm usually just used to it.
00:50Did you feel under control the whole way?
00:53I got a bit of a bad stitch about night, but within a few minutes left, so it wasn't a big deal.
00:58But until then, it was smooth. I started suffering a bit, but it was fine.
01:02Because you only got here Wednesday, Thursday?
01:05Wednesday, and then I messed up my sleeping a bit.
01:07I woke up at 2pm one day, and the other night I didn't get to sleep until 5am.
01:12I'm better now, but it wasn't a good few days. I think I might be sick in a few days, but it was fine.
01:18So obviously you were here a few years ago, but considerably quicker this time.
01:24Yeah, a minute quicker. One minute in seven years is alright, or come back in seven years.
01:31It was a much different race seven years ago, there was a good pack of us.
01:36Honestly, until 8 or 9k, I remember.
01:39So it was probably a different experience today, but in a good way.
01:44It was nice to test myself. It was nice to win, honestly.
01:48Seven years ago, I was second, so good to come back and get the win.
01:52So when I was talking to you last week, you're back here permanently now?
01:56Yeah, probably long term. I need to figure out my life a bit.
02:00I've been set up in America for five years, and now I'm starting again, not from scratch.
02:07So you're going to base yourself in Fife for the meantime?
02:11Yeah, definitely the short term. I'll be on my Indian crown in Fife.
02:16We'll see what happens long term. I need to get a job.
02:21So we'll see you on the Scottish running scene over the winter?
02:24Yeah, I think I said a few weeks ago to you, I've suffered a bit the last couple of years of not racing very much.
02:30Now I've got to race every weekend until mid-December.
02:33So that's going to be a big change. Every race I can.
02:37Brilliant.
02:38It's going to be great, I'm looking forward to that.
02:40Thanks very much.
