00:00President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. was the first to call for the historic day of the complete liberation of Misamis Occidental from the five decades of armed rebellion.
00:12This is what Jesse Atienza of PTV Cebu reported.
00:16This is a historic day in the territory of Misamis Occidental because it is now officially declared as an insurgency-free territory.
00:24This means that there are no longer any members of communist terrorist groups in the 16 LGUs of Nalawigan.
00:31President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. allowed the program where he was given a copy of the resolution of the local government in declaring the insurgency-free status in the area.
00:43In his response, the President gave the support of everyone to succeed the campaign against the insurgency.
00:51We are gathered here today to celebrate a historic occasion.
00:55One that also took time in the making.
00:59The declaration of Misamis Occidental as an insurgency-free province.
01:04As I mentioned in my last State of the Nation address, we have come a long way in our quest for lasting peace.
01:13After years of consistent and resolute security, peace and community building, we have succeeded in our campaign to end the decades of conflict in the 60 barangays in your province that were once in the clutches of insurgent movements.
01:30We have successfully dismantled the key leadership of the former insurgents operating in Misamis Occidental, which have now led to their reintegration into society.
01:42As of September this year, 46 of those projects have been completed, 17 are now ongoing implementation.
02:0644 of these projects are farm-to-market roads, 2 involve the construction and development of roads and bridges, 9 projects focus on water supply systems, and on the other hand, the remaining 8 projects are health stations, rural electrification, and the rehabilitation of schools.
02:26This strong collaboration among the national and local governments, the military, the police, and the community has allowed us to transform what was once a conflict-affected area into now a peaceful community.
02:41According to the Armed Forces of the Philippines, for more than 5 decades, the rebelling groups in the province, where many innocent lives were lost, have been subjected to terrorism.
02:52President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., along with the Department of National Defense Secretary Gilbert Yodoro, Jr., and Presidential Advisor on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity Secretary Carlito Galvez, Jr.
03:06are among the former members of the terrorist groups who have chosen to return to normal life.
03:12President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., hopes that the success achieved by the province of Misamis Occidental will be used by the whole country.
03:21From Tanggub City in the province of Misamis Occidental, Jesse Atienza for Pambansang TV in Bagong, Philippines.
