Two Vietnamese men, suspected of theft, were shot dead early Friday morning (Sept 27) after allegedly attacking police officers with machetes.
At a press conference held at the Seberang Perai Selatan District Police Headquarters, Penang police chief Comm Datuk Hamzah Ahmad revealed that the men, who were in Malaysia on tourist visas, were linked to several house and factory break-ins.

00:29A group of police officers from the Criminal Investigation Department, IPK Pulau Pinang,

00:38were run over by a car on Bukit Panjong Road, in Pungtepal,
00:43in a suspicious manner.
00:46The police officers approached the car,
00:49and found two suspects coming out of the warehouse premises,
00:53and ordered them to stop to be inspected.
00:57Both suspects, who were armed, attacked the police officers,
01:01and the police officers retaliated,
01:04and released several bullets to defend themselves.
01:09Both suspects managed to escape, and were found dead at the scene.
01:13The investigation found two pieces of warehouse,
01:17and various types of equipment used in the crime of breaking into a house or breaking into a premises.
01:22The suspects were two men from a foreign country,
01:25from Vietnam,
01:27aged 38 and 39.
01:31Each of them had two first-degree murder records,
01:33and six second-degree murder records.
01:37The investigation found six cases of breaking into a house or breaking into a premises,
01:41in the Pulau Pinang Contingency,
01:43and five cases of breaking into a house or breaking into a premises in the Kedah Contingency,
01:46and 11 cases of breaking into a house or breaking into a premises in the Kedah Contingency,
01:51which resulted in a loss of approximately Rp317,700.
01:55One of the investigation papers was opened in Ward CC307,
01:59for the crime of attempted murder.
02:02The two suspects are now in the Forensic Unit of Berseparang Jaya Hospital,
02:06for a autopsy to identify the suspect and the cause of death.
02:09They only have a passport to visit the hospital.
