Transcript
00:00We want to go now live to Allie Reed. She is thankfully a bit inland so she's not
00:04going to float away but there is a lot of wind a lot of rain and Allie Reed
00:08how's it going out there right now?
00:12Well Jeff you mentioned it perfectly we didn't see a ton of wind we didn't see a
00:17lot of rain we are still seeing that right now but not nearly as bad as some
00:21other areas around Florida right? Unfortunately this area many people
00:25going to be waking up tomorrow morning and seeing damage like this. This is
00:30something to see huh? A tree completely ripping into the top of this apartment
00:35complex here. Thankfully we've been speaking to neighbors we're told that
00:39this entire apartment complex had actually taken the advice of city
00:43officials a number of days ago and they evacuated to get out of this area. The
00:48other thing to note there is a car underneath the debris here whether or
00:53not that's going to be drivable when this family gets back to this area that
00:57is to be determined. But certainly lives were saved here today because the people
01:04in this apartment complex they listened to local officials and they evacuated
01:08like they were told to do. Thankfully no one inside of this apartment building
01:13when this tree came down on this apartment. If there was someone inside I
01:17could imagine that this could have been a very very different scenario here. Now
01:22I think the big topic of concern again while this area may not have seen as
01:26much wind or rain like other parts of this parts of the state may have seen
01:31people are going to be waking up tomorrow and realize wow there is still
01:35some significant damage here. My photographer Andy and I have been
01:38roving throughout the area over the last hour before we brought to you guys
01:42live just now. We saw a ton of debris everywhere along the street and just a
01:48few minutes drive away from where we were we saw one of those big oak trees
01:51that we were talking about down on the road. We've seen police officers out
01:55catering to those areas. That is going to be a big topic of concern tomorrow. We
02:01were also mentioning those mobile homes, manufactured homes. We've been trying to
02:05keep a close eye on some of those communities to see how they'll make out.
02:08That'll be something that will be on the lookout for tomorrow. But really wow just
02:13something this is just incredible guys. I am so so glad no one was inside of this
02:18apartment building. One thing to note this apartment complex no power here
02:23except for one family. They had a generator around the corner and they've
02:27decided to stick it out in this apartment complex. It is eerily quiet
02:30here in town and because it is so dark a lot of people again not knowing what the
02:36extent of their damage may look like when they wake up tomorrow morning.
02:39That'll be something that a lot of people are gonna have to assess in just
02:42a few hours time once the Sun actually comes up here. Jeff really really
02:46incredible stuff here. I'm glad that everyone made it out safe. Absolutely
02:49well said there Allie. Thank you for that report. In Tallahassee Florida the
02:53center of the storm now racing to the north northeast. We're gonna take you
02:57though even though the center of the storm is technically over Georgia at
03:00this point the storm surge holds and continues in Cedar Key Florida.
