00:00DTI and Quezon City LGU inspected some buyers to see if the rising price freeze will be followed.
00:07We have on the spot Bon Aquino. Bon?
00:11Connie, it is not yet time to adjust the SRP of some buyers.
00:17This is what DTI Secretary Cristina Roque said when she asked about the SRP adjustments of some manufacturers.
00:24The SRP includes basic necessities and prime commodities such as rice, sautéed vegetables, sardines, soups, noodles, bottled water, and others.
00:33Even the prices of Noche Buena items are too early to say if the SRP adjustments will be implemented here.
00:40But one of the concerns of DTI is the decision of manufacturers and consumers about this.
00:46At 8 p.m. this morning, DTI Secretary Roque and Quezon City Mayor Joy Del Monte visited a grocery store in Farmer's Mall.
00:56They checked the prices of meat, seafood, rice, oil, and canned goods, and the rising price freeze will be followed until Sunday.
01:04But the secretary said, aside from the price freeze monitoring that DTI is doing every Sunday, they also want to know how the vendors are doing
01:12and to let them know whenever DTI helps them in running their business.
01:18According to their assessment, there was no violation of the price freeze that the stores inspected.
01:28Of course, it's normal. They will always say that they are losing because they want a price increase.
01:33But we also need to be sensitive to the needs of the consumers.
01:37So we need to really balance everything to be able to come up with a correct decision whether to increase the price or not.
01:48We talked to the vendors and we also talked to DTI earlier about their inspection.
01:54As of now, their sales are okay, but they expect that their sales will increase by October.
02:01Thank you, Juan Aquino.
