00:00We need to brag right now.
00:01We're one to one, just like the Philadelphia Eagles.
00:03But clock management situation of football rears its ugly ant once again
00:06out in Philly as the Falcons come back 22 to 21.
00:09They win that game late on Monday Night Football.
00:12Fourth blow lead for the Eagles over the last year
00:15when it comes to leading in the game with two minutes left.
00:19All right. Leading a game with two minutes left.
00:21They blowed four leads over the past calendar year.
00:23That's the most in the NFL or tied for most in the NFL.
00:26So look, man, it's a good day.
00:28Well, it's a bad day in Philadelphia.
00:30We get a little smile on our face, but we got our own issues here.
00:33As we say, oh, baby, oh, baby, oh, baby.
00:34Good morning to everybody out there.
00:35Get out the graveyard shift.
00:37What is happening to all the overnight dances, all the truck drivers,
00:39all the janitors, teachers, cops, you name it.
00:43Devo Samuel now is out for a few weeks for the service to go.
00:46Forty niners.
00:47And I got that news after a nap, Shasky, after a nap.
00:50Devo Samuel out for the next few weeks.
00:52So this Rams game where they got a bunch of guys beat up.
00:55The 49ers have a bunch of guys beat up.
00:57It's no time to panic, but it's definitely gut check time
01:00in the first quarter of the season here.
01:02It got to have a game against the L.A. Rams.
01:04Debo on the shelf for the next three weeks.
01:06No McCaffrey, no Pearsall.
01:08We don't even know how good he is.
01:10And so we're going to find out about Brock Purdy over the next
01:13couple of weeks here with the 49ers.
01:14All right. So before I get into the Niners, because, you know, the Niners just
01:19I love them so much.
01:20They just drive.
01:21They drive me crazy sometimes. The injuries.
01:23It's just I mean, I feel like I can't have nice things for multiple weeks.
01:26That being said, just allow me an opportunity, Bonte, to just enjoy a Philly loss.
01:32Now, it doesn't make the Niners loss any sweeter or anything.
01:36It's a nice unintended consequence of silver linings.
01:39You know, my grandma used to say to me, Joe, the grass isn't always greener.
01:44You can't keep up with the Joneses.
01:47No, but I can be very happy when the Philadelphia Eagles, Detroit Lions
01:51and the like lose games.
01:53And so I'm here for the enjoyment of seeing Sirianni
01:56with the befuddled, stupid face look all over him.
02:00I'm just I'm just here for it.
02:02I needed that after all of the news of the last, I don't know, 36 hours or so.
02:06Whether it's the McCaffrey might be out for, I don't know, ever.
02:09Deebo hurting his calf.
02:10The Niners losing that game that way.
02:12Whoo. The thing I am allowed to feel good about is that I know
02:17when push comes to shove, my coach can literally go to the whiteboard
02:22and actually draw up solutions for my team.
02:25I'm not sure Nick Sirianni can do that.
02:27So but we want them to win just enough to keep Sirianni in that seat.
02:32We don't want him fired.
02:33That's true.
02:34I mean, we do not want to fire Belichick sniffing around that job.
02:37Now you see the Eagles defense is on our screen right now.
02:39Their pressure rate 30th in the league, 23 percent.
02:42They allow seven yards per play so far in the first two weeks of the season.
02:46And they do not have AJ Brown.
02:48But you think about that situation yesterday, I was thinking, OK,
02:50threw the ball on third three and say quad drop.
02:53By the way, there was Joe Buck on a call there.
02:55But earlier in the game, bookmark early in the game
02:58at a fourth or four, they signed a 10 yard line and elected to go for it
03:02on the fourth and four.
03:03They said no to the three points.
03:06Let's go for it.
03:07And they went for it.
03:09So late in the game, their final possession,
03:12they drop a great pass play to say, call Barkley in the flat.
03:14He drops it on third and three.
03:16Now, a lot of us thought, run the ball there, run the ball there.
03:19Eat the clock, eat the clock, eat the clock and make Atlanta
03:22call that last time out.
03:26But you don't, you don't.
03:28Excuse me, Atlanta didn't have any timeouts at that point.
03:30They were done. They were done.
03:31They had no time. No timeouts.
03:33Run the ball.
03:3440 seconds gets off the clock and maybe you run it again.
03:37You set up to push.
03:38You get the first down in the end of the game and you win.
03:41And you're to a no going into next week in the New Orleans in the Superdome.
03:46But you pass it.
03:47And I'm thinking, OK, maybe it's two down territory.
03:49That's what I thought.
03:51And they elect to go for the field goal when it's only going to put you up six.
03:55Well, now this goes back to.
03:56So there's a variety of elements here, like
03:59congruity on thought process of aggression, right?
04:02Like it's one thing to be like and Brandon Staley kind of suffered from this.
04:05Like we're a go for it team.
04:07All right.
04:08So if it's fourth and 13 and you're backed up in your own 11
04:12and you're facing the Raiders that one year, it's like, no,
04:15you don't go for it in that situation.
04:16You punt it.
04:17And like there's a time and a place early in the game when it's zero zero.
04:22I don't know. Just me.
04:23I and I know the Niners did the same thing and they were right on the one.
04:27So it was a little different, right?
04:29I do love taking the points early in the game, early in the game.
04:32Take the lead.
04:33I understand why you want to punch it in and get six and and really get the momentum.
04:37And I know there's a whole home versus road and momentum.
04:40I'll listen to all of those arguments.
04:43But late in the game, late in the game.
04:45And you referenced it to me.
04:46I thought it was two down territory because if you score a touchdown,
04:49the game is over.
04:50Just run to get a first down.
04:52The game is exactly you get a first down and the game is over.
04:55Atlanta should not touch the ball the rest of the game.
04:57And that's kind of the way I'm doing, especially when you see how lethal
05:00the push pushes to me.
05:02Everything should be designed to get us a fourth and one,
05:06you know, third in one situation, because I know that I have one
05:09of the most unstoppable plays in the sport.
05:11And then like when the clock stops, I keep going back to the clock.
05:15I mean, it's a constant theme in the NFL right now.
05:18You cannot be a head coach in the modern NFL
05:23if you are not two and three steps ahead of where the fans are
05:27when it comes to clock management, understanding situational football.
05:31And because our awareness of it because of Madden, because of fantasy football,
05:36because now we can watch every game, you know, whether you're on the red zone
05:40or whether you're watching on on a not direct TV, but whatever it's called,
05:43the NFL package, like we see everything.
05:46And so if you don't understand the clock and you don't understand
05:49what's going on here, a minute, 40 for a team in the NFL to march down.
05:54Eternity. It's like, like, oh, well, they don't have any timeouts.
05:58They don't need any.
05:59They scored.
06:01They literally scored with about a minute, 34 seconds left.
06:05So it took them a minute, five to score a minute and five seconds
06:09to score yesterday after the kickoff.
06:12And I'm looking back at the fourth and fourth and they took their time,
06:14by the way, they took their time.
06:15They went out of bounds. They took their time.
06:17They set up in the same formation, paid many gold.
06:19But many guys like I like this.
06:21They're in the same formation, running different plays.
06:23But you don't have a bunch of guys scrambling all around.
06:25The fourth and four was from their old nine yard line
06:28from the Falcons nine yard line early in the game. Yeah.
06:31It felt a little aggressive. That's what I felt.
06:33Aggressives like Syriani take the points, take the lead.
06:36It's a struggle bus right now.
06:38You don't have AJ Brown point to write a premium.
06:41Would you agree inside the two or three and going for it
06:44is different than at the nine that the night is completely different.
06:48So, OK, so we agree.
06:49Some people will say, oh, no, no, no.
06:51Going forward is going for it. I'm like, no, no. Fourth and four.
06:54That's what I'm saying.
06:55Four is not a gimme from the night you're at home.
06:59There's no score.
07:00Take the points, especially the points, especially against the team
07:04that they feel limited, the Atlanta Falcons.
07:07It's not like, you know, you hey, we're facing the Chiefs
07:10and we know we need to score touchdowns.
07:12OK, I'll I'll listen to that argument.
07:14Kirk Cousins, until the final drive, looked very pedestrian.
07:18Well, you don't blitz about a final drive.
07:20I don't know what can't move.
07:22Said five, said six.
07:24What are you waiting for?
07:24You have to be aggressive defensively to try to force a turnover,
07:28try to deflect the PBU.
07:30It was like the Eagles playing seven on seven or something
07:32at the end of the first half.
07:33What are you doing there?
07:35So you don't go.
07:35So you do go for it in the first quarter
07:38and you decide not to go for it at the end of the game.
07:41Well,
07:43Brian Clark has some interesting things for me to say about Nick Sirianni.
07:47Nick Sirianni might have just saved the Atlanta Falcons season.
07:52It's that big.
07:52And I think he definitely changed the course of Kirk Cousins season.
07:57And it's not because that one play did so much, but that one play
08:01allowed the Atlanta Falcons a chance to go be great.
08:05And here's Saquon Barkley.
08:07I could sit here and, you know,
08:10complain and be upset about it, or I could be a professional athlete
08:14and go back to the drawing board and take the leg and move on and get better from it.
08:18I made that play multiple times.
08:20I missed that play before, too.
08:21I'm not going to sugarcoating the situation.
08:24That happens part of the game.
08:26And I just got to be better.
08:27I let my team down.
08:28I got a man up to it.
08:29I got on it, which I'm doing.
08:30And I promise those guys in that locker room that I'll be better for them.
08:34All right.
08:34That was Ryan Clark on Sirianni.
08:37That was Saquon Barkley.
08:38Oh, you got Sirianni as well.
08:39Oh, here's Sirianni.
08:40What does he have to say?
08:41Here's Sirianni on the decision to pass on third and three.
08:45In that scenario, I was thinking they might not have any timeouts there,
08:49but obviously they did with the incomplete pass.
08:52You know, that would have came down to maybe a minute.
08:56And so we wanted to go up six points, you know, and it didn't work.
09:00So, you know, the decision to to pass it there again,
09:06like I said, you know, where they were junking it up inside
09:08with it being fourth and three to go for it.
09:10I thought, you know, with them not having any timeouts,
09:12I wanted to be down a touchdown and and see if they could drive the field.
09:15And then they did.
09:16All right.
09:16That's the type of answer that it gets you fired in about five weeks.
09:19That is just that is just awful.
09:21It's incongruent, though, B.
09:22Would you agree?
09:23Like we want them to be out of touch?
09:24OK, well, to me, then it's two down territory at the end there.
09:27If it's third down, you go for it.
09:29If that's what your thought process is.
09:31I really got lost with what he was saying.
09:33Like he started off like just listen to it again.
09:36That scenario, I was thinking they might not have any timeouts there,
09:40but obviously they did with with the with the incomplete pass.
09:43You know, that would have that would have came down.
09:46But they had a timeout because of the incomplete pass.
09:49Well, you threw the ball.
09:51So that's why they had to time out.
09:52All right.
09:53That's why they had to time out.
09:54That was a great play.
09:55Designed to say, well, I've got to catch the ball.
09:57Of course, got to catch the ball.
09:58But at the same time, you're running it with success.
10:01You're going up the middle and gashing up.
10:04Overall, the Eagles averaged five yards to carry.
10:06Now, a lot of that was Jalen Hurds getting out the pocket and running.
10:08But I thought Jalen was awesome.
10:09St. Quad, he averaged over four, three, four point three yards to carry.
10:12Twenty two for ninety five.
10:14He was bruising.
10:15And you have one of the best offensive lines of football.
10:17Get behind them.
10:18They can't stop you.
10:20Get you a yard or two.
10:21And it sets up the touch.
10:23So Syriani, you gave them the timeout by even throwing the football
10:27and risking that.
10:29And then all of a sudden I'm thinking, OK, maybe maybe it's two down territory.
10:33They're going to pass it.
10:34Yeah, he left to go for the field, going to go up six.
10:36Hey, Syriani, all they got to do is score and kick an extra point.
10:39That extra point was a lot longer because of the celebration by Drake London.
10:43But he nailed it.
10:45He nailed it.
10:46So, I mean, I, that answer is just pathetic.
10:50That's pathetic.
10:51OK, so that gets you fired in that market.
10:52No doubt.
10:53Drake London scores the touchdown.
10:54And I guess my feed was behind.
10:56I was watching on the iPad.
10:57I was feeding the baby.
10:58He kept touching the screen.
10:59It was just it was I was all over the place.
11:02Right. Hey, Michelle's down in San Jose.
11:03And so I go, wait a minute.
11:05Penalty. What what happened?
11:08And Sam's like, yeah, he let the chopper out or whatever.
11:11Sam said in the thread.
11:12And I'm like, oh, I see it now.
11:14And he's like shooting a gun at the fans.
11:16I'm like, I think he was playing Duck Hunt or something.
11:19He was skeet shooting.
11:20Yeah, skeet shooting or something like that.
11:21You know, probably not the best thing to do after this most recent weekend's event.
11:25No, I agree. But I didn't see it.
11:27And so, you know, when the text messages are ahead of your own feed,
11:31when you're watching something and I'm like, all right, you know what?
11:33He deserved that penalty.
11:35Yeah. So the Eagles are in trouble here.
11:37The NFC East, the winner may have nine wins by the end of the day.
11:41Ten wins, maybe.
11:42Philly travels to New Orleans next week without A.J. Brown.
11:46Could be very, very intriguing.
11:47And again, the Eagles defense has given up seven yards per play
11:51on the season, seven yards per play, and they're not getting any pressure
11:55on the quarterback.
11:56You think they want us already back?
11:58Oh, boy, they can't get anything.
12:00A.J. Brown's out next week.
12:02Oh, he's out for the next few weeks.
12:04My fantasy teams and jambles.
12:05Oh, that's what it's all about.
12:07You and the Niners.
12:09What else is it about? I mean, I mean, come on, come on, A.J.
12:12Well, I got him in fantasy, too, but that's the auto drafted league,
12:14which I don't care about anymore.
12:15It's like they they did me a.
12:17Yeah, they did me wrong.
12:18But anyway, A.J. Brown's out for a few weeks with a hammy.
12:22He's out for a few weeks with a hammy.
12:23So they're in trouble in Philadelphia.
12:25Look at Dallas Cowboys.
12:27They're playing Baltimore this week in Dallas.
12:30The Eagles look at their next three games
12:33at New Orleans, at Tampa Bay, where they got bounced by the playoffs.
12:37And then they host the Cleveland Browns.
12:40All right.
12:41So I know you're focused on the NFC East.
12:43I want to take one second out to look at the NFC South.
12:47NFC South, as it's a walk it back Tuesday.
12:52I'm sorry, I completely underrated you, Tampa Bay.
12:55I didn't give you enough credit at all.
12:58I considered you a playoff team, but not a true contender.
13:00I could be eating my words.
13:02I mean, it was only two games.
13:03But at the same time, you look very, very good.
13:05You went up and won a humongous game in Detroit.
13:09Humongous game and in an ugly way.
13:11And they'll be three and all because they hosted Denver Broncos this week.
13:14They're a battle tested roster that a lot of guys on that team
13:18have won high level playoff games.
13:20They were the ones that knocked out Philly last year.
13:22Then I look at New Orleans.
13:23Didn't see this coming.
13:24I'm like, wow.
13:26Like the Kubiak who's running the offense, they look completely different.
13:29Kamara looks like he's CMC right now, even though we know
13:32he's been a great player for a long time.
13:33And then Atlanta winning that game, like, you know, don't count them out just yet.
13:37Even though I know it looked ugly at times and I still think they're a work
13:40in progress, the NFC South looks way better than I thought.
13:44Well, the Falcons, they get fat and happy at the end of the season.
13:49They hosted Giants.
13:49They played the Commanders.
13:50They played the Panthers.
13:51Oof, you know, they've got the Broncos later in the season,
13:55but these next three games for them, they host Kansas City.
13:58So tonight, football.
14:01They host the Saints.
14:03Then they host the Buccaneers.
14:04So they have three straight home games against some against teams
14:07that haven't lost a game yet this season.
14:09Now the Saints, we're going to find out a lot about, but the Saints
14:12with the way they scored, they could be that.
14:14They're probably the surprise team now at the NFC.
14:16There's always a team that elevates.
14:18And now we can identify that.
14:20It's probably the Saints.
14:21They look at their next two weeks or next three weeks.
14:23New Orleans Saints.
14:25They hosted Philadelphia Eagles, who are beat up.
14:27It's a big time game at the Superdome.
14:29That's a big game. Big game. Wow.
14:31That's huge. That's a huge, huge game.
14:34And then you go to Atlanta the week after you play the Falcons.
14:38And that's a rivalry game.
14:39They hate each other.
14:40The Falcons and the Saints, those cities hate each other.
14:42That's going to be wild.
14:44And then they go to Kansas City for Monday Night Football.
14:46Oh, God, I hate the Chiefs.
14:47I hate them so much.
14:49Now it's a lost Derek Carr in Kansas City.
14:51So he's chocked up.
14:52Relax.
