00:00More than 60 ships of China passed through Escoda Shoal a few days after BRP Teresa Magbanwa left.
00:08According to a security analyst, it's dangerous because it's close to Palawan, where Chino Gaston is stationed.
00:18A few days after BRP Teresa Magbanwa left Escoda Shoal,
00:2265 Chinese vessels were monitored by the Philippine Navy in Bahurang, more than 70 nautical miles from Palawan.
00:31Some of these are Chinese Coast Guard ships, 4 are Chinese Navy ships, and 52 are Chinese militia vessels.
00:39But it doesn't mean that China has already controlled Escoda Shoal, which is inside the Exclusive Economic Zone of the Philippines.
00:53There's been no marked increase in the pileup of trash corals. We have not monitored any man-made activity.
01:01But according to a security analyst, the situation is more dangerous now if compared to the standoff in Bajo de Masinloc in 2012.
01:10That's why the government should be careful.
01:14First of all, this is closer to Palawan.
01:17Of course, we have greater capabilities to engage the Chinese in the standoff.
01:21The Coast Guard now has more ships. We have the support part with the Allies.
01:26But at the same time, the Chinese have already their own Coast Guard, and it's supported by the Chinese Maritime Militia, the De-Conservation Army's Navy.
01:36The AFP continues to monitor with patrol ships, airplanes, and satellites the allies of the country in the entire West Philippine Sea.
01:43We assure the Filipino people that the entire leadership of the AFP is doing its best to protect and secure all our features in the Exclusive Economic Zone,
01:54most especially in the West Philippine Sea.
01:57In a social media post by security analyst Ray Powell, 11 Chinese militia ships and 2 Chinese Coast Guard vessels are in Escoda according to the Automatic Identification System or AIS.
02:10According to Powell, other ships are not visible here, possibly killed by the AIS.
02:16A lot of Chinese ships in Escoda will face a PCG ship that was replaced by BRP Teresa Magbanua and was sent there yesterday according to the National Maritime Council.
02:28For GMA Integrated News, Chino Gaston reporting for 24 Hours.
