00:13cartons préférés de Chuck Jones et de Bugs Bunny.

01:45Now, one thing to be aware of in this cartoon is Maurice Noble's background layouts.
01:52They're quite amazing because they defy any kind of reality.
01:57They're very stylish looking, obviously, but there are elements that are just flat and
02:01graphic like these trees.
02:04There are things inside of Witch Hazel's house that, you know, are just painted on the wall,
02:11like look at the curtains that are actually painted up over the ceiling, tables that
02:17are painted on the wall rather than actually standing.
02:20Great piece of timing coming up as Hansel and Gretel deliver their last line.
02:46Off into the distance.
02:58Now why somebody would frame a dead fish with a flower sticking on it, I have no idea,
03:05but it just serves to make the backgrounds all the more crazy.
03:10Look at the sideways vase painted on the wall.
03:37He's that device of the bobby pins being left after her exit.
03:43Lots of times.
03:44This is the first time he actually used it in these cartoons.
03:53You know, for an old gal, she actually zips around pretty good.
03:57Some beautiful animation by Ken Harris here as she's trying to get Bugs Bunny away
04:07from licking the pot.
04:14Little skip here, it's great.
04:18In here as she's coaxing him along.
04:20It's just beautiful, masterful stuff, and it's not showboaty.
04:24It's very simple.
04:31In here we have an extended sequence by Ben Washam as Bugs eats the carrot.
04:37Now if you look at Bugs' face on these, the drawings are just marvelous.
04:56The drawings are so elegant and classy, and the animation is nice and subtle.
05:03It's just beautiful.
05:08And then we've got Bugs' takes right here, and if you single frame them, you'll see
05:13what we call multiples, you know?
05:15Unlike a smear drawing where it's just an elongated drawing from one to the next, Chuck
05:20actually had the animators do multiple eyeballs and heads and noses every time Bugs went into
05:27one of his kind of noises.
05:45Of course, one thing that needs to be mentioned in these cartoons, and I probably don't mention
05:48it often enough, is Carl Stalling's music.
05:51The heroic music when the prince entered, and then the...
05:56When you realize it's a rabbit he's just kissed awake.
05:59It's just perfect scoring.
06:06Now this cartoon was actually called into question for its political incorrectness at
06:11the very end here.
06:13What can I say?
06:14Bugs is a rabbit of his era.
06:15Except that his opinion about women isn't exactly enlightened at the end.
