00:00It's now only a matter of time for Dismissed Bamban Mayor Alice Guo to finally appear on her first day in court to face various cases that have been filed against her.
00:08In fact, the Department of Justice or DOJ has now ordered that a case for qualified human trafficking be filed against her in connection with the illegal pogo hubs she is reportedly involved in.
00:20Luis E. Arispe returns with this report.
00:22Alice Guo will now face a court of law to explain her side on her alleged links to the illegal operations of the pogo hub in Bamban, Tarlac because the Department of Justice has indicted Guo and others for qualified human trafficking in persons.
00:53The DOJ said what inspired for Guo to be indicted is because individuals who organized the establishments engaged in human trafficking could still be charged with human trafficking.
01:04This is the case for the former local official who is believed to be the previous owner of the pogo hub in Tarlac.
01:22This is the case for the former local official who is believed to be the previous owner of the pogo hub in Tarlac.
01:34Included in the case are alleged business partners of Guo, namely Wang Jiang, Zhang Rujin, Lin Baoying, and former Technology and Livelihood Resource Center Deputy Director Dennis Cunanan.
01:47None of the other accused cannot be disclosed yet because the DOJ did not include them on the immigration lookout bulletin issued by the Secretary to the Bureau of Immigration.
01:56On the counter-affidavit of Guo, the DOJ said it did not acknowledge the document under resolution.
02:02This is because of the questionable process of notarizing the document when it was submitted to the prosecutors.
02:08We know why, because it is clear that he did not face the public notary.
02:15Aside from that, it is not a general rule that the public notary can do it.
02:21The DOJ admits the delaying tactics of Guo's camp posed a challenge on their part.
02:26However, it is still notable that the process under their department to hear the complaint took only three months.
02:33The DOJ said this will not be the last case they may file in accordance to illegal operations of pogos.
02:39This case of Guo may serve as a template for the DOJ on how to hear the cases of the pogo hub in Porac, Pampanga.
02:47The case is set to be filed next week in Kapastarlak.
03:06A qualified human trafficking in persons case has a penalty of preclusion perpetua and a 2 million peso fine if found guilty by the court.
03:15Meanwhile, Guo and others have yet to comment on the resolution released by the DOJ.
03:20Only Dennis Cunanan's camp has expressed their sentiments and said this was not a decision they expected from the department.
