The day when Prince Charles learned all about Jack Crawford - the Sunderland naval hero.

00:00Every day is a school day. It certainly was for Prince Charles in September 1978 when
00:08he came to Sunderland and learned about one of our greatest heroes. The future King was
00:14on Wearside to officially open Crowtree Leisure Centre and hundreds of people turned up to
00:20greet him, including members of the Jack Crawford Sea Cadets.
00:26Who's Jack Crawford? asked the Prince. Cadets Andrew Wilson and James Dixon provided the
00:33answer about the East End sailor who in 1797 nailed the colours of HMS Venerable back to
00:41the mast after they were shot down in the Battle of Camperdown. Prince Charles also
00:47got to meet local residents and members of the First Airborne Association. Tell us if
