00:00Let's do it, let's do it, let's do it!
00:27Come on, Mary.
00:28Where's the market?
00:29There.
00:30Yes, Fred.
00:31OK, let's go.
00:32This is anyone's, I think.
00:33Oh, my God, we're really racing now.
00:35Look, he's behind us.
00:36Geoff and Freddie.
00:37Come on, Fred.
00:38I've got a wedgie, my mouth is dry.
00:39There's not as much oxygen up here.
00:40Where's the market?
00:41Come on.
00:42Can you see it?
00:43Fred, place it, mate.
00:44Oh, shit.
00:45Oh, my cuffs.
00:46Come on, Mary.
00:47I feel sick.
00:48Oh, shit.
00:49Oh, shit.
00:50Oh, shit.
00:51Oh, shit.
00:52Oh, shit.
00:53Oh, shit.
00:54Oh, shit.
00:55Oh, shit.
00:57Oh, shit.
01:07South America's second longest river and sitting on the banks of its Argentinian delta is the
01:13city of Tigre.
01:17Here nestled among the 8400 square mile maze of subtropical water ways, the fourth check
01:24point.
01:25Isn't it weird to see everyone in puffer jackets?
01:29We've been so hot for weeks.
01:31And the starting point for the penultimate leg of the race
01:34to Southern Chile.
01:37But first, a chance for the teams to compare positions.
01:41Congratulations, guys.
01:44How does it feel to come first?
01:46It felt great.
01:47I'm not going to lie.
01:48What you've yet to experience is the pressure
01:52that being first comes.
01:54It's just a different mentality.
01:56Having set the pace in earlier legs,
01:59Jeff and Freddie are almost 11 hours behind.
02:01And for the first time, Scott and Sam are race leaders.
02:05And with more than 4,500 kilometers still
02:08to run before the finish line, budgets are coming
02:11under increasing pressure.
02:13We were quick.
02:14But it cost us.
02:15And the ferry was $200.
02:17$200?
02:18US dollars.
02:19For a three-hour ferry.
02:21We was going to get on the same ferry as Sam and Scott,
02:23but I lost my passport.
02:27The leg was really disappointing.
02:29It was a really tough one.
02:30And I left it on the bus.
02:32We had to leave the job.
02:33Beautiful wine country.
02:34It was amazing.
02:35It was quite crushing.
02:37I was ready to just pack it in there and then.
02:39So we had a great time.
02:41Wow.
02:42We just have to suck it up and try and bounce back.
02:44I can assure you it's time to race.
02:54Morning.
02:55Hi.
02:56Morning.
02:58Scott and Sam are first to learn their next destination.
03:02Your fifth checkpoint is Tilcara.
03:06OK?
03:07Where is that?
03:08I don't know.
03:10Bye.
03:11Fast walking?
03:11Fast walk.
03:12Go.
03:13Pressure's on to keep this up now for another two legs
03:15so that we can win it.
03:16To Tigra, please.
03:24Hola.
03:26Imagine you're selling our house.
03:27Get them one of these.
03:28You're going off grid.
03:30It's quite kind of romantic.
03:32Imagine being the postman.
03:34Why do you always think logistically?
03:38Gracias.
03:39Gracias.
03:40Hola.
03:41We're looking for a place called Tilcara.
03:44Is it in Argentina?
03:46Around here.
03:48So near San Salvador de Jujuy.
03:561,800 kilometres away in the Jujuy province, Tilcara,
04:02one of the oldest inhabited towns in Argentina.
04:06Nestled in the dramatic Quebrada de Umahuaca,
04:09known as the Rainbow Valley,
04:11in the far north of the country.
04:14A region defined by its diverse landscapes,
04:17colonial cities and cultural influences
04:21drawn from its European, Latin American
04:24and indigenous populations.
04:27To reach the checkpoint,
04:28teams could head across central Argentina,
04:31passing through the major city of CĆ³rdoba,
04:34making use of its many transport options.
04:37Or travel directly north,
04:39tracing the banks of the mighty ParanĆ” River
04:42through lesser-explored rural Argentina,
04:45before cutting deeper into the northwest corner.
04:49I am keen to save money on this leg.
04:52It's scaring me how little money we have.
04:55We could go to CĆ³rdoba, it might be good transport links.
04:59Well, the central route is well-travelled,
05:01meaning that you might get higher prices.
05:03So I think we're going to go directly north.
05:05Less travelled, lower prices.
05:07So we're seeing parts of Argentina
05:08that you wouldn't necessarily see if you'd gone holiday.
05:11So it's a bit like when we did the first leg,
05:12we went inland and we didn't go across the coast
05:14because we wanted to do something different.
05:15And it worked out well.
05:16OK, we go up to Corrientes and across.
05:19Yeah.
05:20Come on, then.
05:21I'm still worried that we did spend a lot on the ferry
05:23to get here, that we just need to,
05:25maybe this leg, be a bit safe.
05:27Yes.
05:29Hola.
05:30We need to get to...
05:31Corrientes.
05:32Si.
05:33Can we get on a train?
05:35A Corrientes no.
05:37Dentro de Buenos Aires.
05:39Gracias.
05:40Hola.
05:41Two tickets to Buenos Aires.
05:43Si.
05:46I hope we've done the right thing.
05:47Gracias.
05:48Gracias.
05:49You've got to go back to Buenos Aires.
05:51And then we'll have all the options.
05:52Yeah.
05:53Protecting their budget,
05:55they plan to head in the direction of Corrientes.
05:58But first, unable to find direct transport north,
06:02they head back on themselves
06:03to the most visited city in South America,
06:06home to 30% of Argentina's population.
06:10I think this is our station.
06:13We can't just be complacent that we are in first place.
06:15Let's keep it up.
06:16I think Sam is way more competitive than me.
06:20Right, let's find the bus station.
06:22He's like, we need to win, we need to win.
06:24Even second.
06:26Oh, you did well, you were second.
06:27That's not first, though, is it?
06:29Like, you're still a runner-up.
06:30So we just need to ask for the quickest.
06:32If we've had a great experience, I'll take it.
06:35As long as at the finish line, we're first.
06:37We need to get to Corrientes.
06:40And what time does it get in?
06:42Ah, OK.
06:44Tomorrow morning.
06:45That's a long one.
06:47No other quickest?
06:50The best of the best? OK.
06:52The couple settle in for a four-and-a-half-hour wait.
06:55I'm annoyed, frustrated.
06:58Every moment that passes, someone's catching up on us.
07:04So we're staying in Argentina.
07:06Fantastic.
07:07I'm glad that we get to stay a bit longer.
07:09Kelly and Jeremy are second to leave the checkpoint.
07:12So we are here, and we've got to get up here to Tilcara.
07:17So Cordoba, it seems to be in the middle.
07:19Yeah. Direct.
07:21Big city, more connection.
07:22Yeah, so you want to kind of go there.
07:24OK.
07:25Two winemakers' assistants are required in Cordoba.
07:30Well-paid work, overnight stay, dinner included.
07:34And I'm sure we'll get a couple of glasses of wine thrown in.
07:36OK.
07:37We've had a really good experience on the previous leg.
07:40We can slow down a bit.
07:42I think a vineyard would be really beautiful.
07:44We need some time for us, each leg,
07:46because otherwise it's too much.
07:47Yeah.
07:49I want to be competitive, I want to win, of course,
07:51but I want to enjoy myself with my wife.
07:53I see a new culture, this is amazing.
07:55My family has a vineyard too,
07:57so I'm quite curious to do this with another family,
08:00but in Argentina.
08:01This kind of rice is something you do one time in your life.
08:04The old woman was good with her feet, you know,
08:06doing this to the...
08:07Oh, yeah, the grapes.
08:08The grapes, yeah.
08:09You don't want to be stepping on any grapes
08:10with your athlete's foot, Jeremy.
08:12We got a plan?
08:13I think so.
08:16Taking a route through central Argentina,
08:18Kelly and Jeremy have their sights set on the Cordoba wine region.
08:23I think we've got to go to Buenos Aires,
08:25and then we're going to get a bus.
08:27Where are we going?
08:28There.
08:29It's miles away.
08:31Vamos! Vamos!
08:32Third to depart...
08:34Adios, Tigre!
08:35Kola and Mary-Ellen,
08:37determined to put their previous mishaps behind them.
08:41I just want us to have a better leg.
08:43Last leg was really, really tough,
08:45and we didn't actually get to experience much.
08:47We've only got two more legs,
08:49so we're just going to have the best time.
08:52Gaucho apprentices wanted.
08:55Gauchos are rich in Argentinian history.
08:58So, going up to the ranch, which is far north,
09:01one, we're covering a lot of distance,
09:03two, we get to be around animals,
09:06the job is well-paid,
09:07we get free accommodation.
09:09Yeah, let's do that.
09:10If we need money, desperately need money.
09:13OK, Esquina it is.
09:14Hopefully, we can get there by tomorrow.
09:17OK, can you promise me this leg,
09:18you're going to embrace a little bit more of nature?
09:20I'm more of a city boy.
09:21I like the hum of a city.
09:23Yeah, but come on.
09:24That's exactly what we need.
09:26Hoping to make the most of rural Argentina,
09:28the cousins plan to head into Gaucho country
09:31for a much-needed budget boost.
09:35We have not got time to lose.
09:36We want to leave here tonight,
09:38we don't want to pay for accommodation.
09:39Gagging to get back in the race now.
09:42How are we going to get out of here?
09:43There are night buses from this station.
09:45Do you know if there's any buses tonight to Esquina?
09:49No.
09:51There's no direct buses to Esquina.
09:53It's impossible.
09:54I think tomorrow.
09:56Oh, stay night here?
09:58Tomorrow.
10:00OK.
10:01Can you help see if there's cheap accommodation?
10:04Mary, I'm going to go enquire about other stuff,
10:07cos I just feel like there might be onward travel to be done.
10:11Hola. Sorry, do you know how to get to Esquina?
10:16Can you check?
10:18Even hostel, maybe Airbnb?
10:21El Talal.
10:22Transport from El Talal.
10:24Yeah, yeah, yeah.
10:25Wicked. Thank you.
10:27What are you checking, Conor?
10:28There's buses tonight from El Talal.
10:30Really? Yeah.
10:33Hola, that says Talal.
10:35All right, Mary's getting in.
10:37Do you go Talal?
10:38Muchas gracias. Gracias.
10:40Muchas gracias.
10:44Is he on a speed limit here or what?
10:46The final team to leave the checkpoint...
10:48We are in a race.
10:50..Geoff and Freddie, almost 11 hours behind the race leaders.
10:54Don't want to be in a hotel tonight. I've just come out of one.
10:59If we can get on a night bus tonight out of here to CĆ³rdoba,
11:03we're happy.
11:04Yeah, but you're, like, speedwalking,
11:06like, not normal speedwalking.
11:07We're under pressure today.
11:09If we have to stay in a hotel, will you be pissed off?
11:11Yeah.
11:12But approaching midnight,
11:14transport options out of Tigre are fading fast.
11:17That's the train.
11:18That is a train right there.
11:20Run in there and I'll shout at you if I see a bus coming.
11:23So maybe this train does go to somewhere we need.
11:26Map.
11:29CĆ³rdoba, that's where...
11:31Oh, that's the place, isn't it?
11:34Dad!
11:35Fred, what have you found?
11:36I love making him run.
11:38Dad, this is interesting cos it says long distance,
11:40so there's trains that go for long distances.
11:42Mate. Oh, are you serious?
11:47It was just open.
11:49Closed. I was just in there.
11:52Oh, this could be bad.
11:55Making a move. This is good.
11:57Arriving at El Talar...
12:00Hola. Esquina.
12:02Stress. Stress.
12:05...Kola and Mary-Ellen make their escape
12:08on the last bus of the day to Esquina.
12:10Did I ever think we were going to leave today?
12:12In all honesty, no.
12:15I thought we would end up sleeping on the benches.
12:17Kola really stepped up in trying to get us to Talar.
12:20He really kind of was proactive in asking for help.
12:23I was prepared to possibly stay in Tigre.
12:28Do you think El Talar is the best bus garage for CĆ³rdoba?
12:33Yes.
12:34And you think buses leave at this time?
12:37I'm glad you're...
12:39Oh!
12:40Uh-oh.
12:41Thank you. Really appreciate it.
12:42Fred, come, let's get up there so we can get a ticket.
12:47Bus going quick.
12:48Shit.
12:54Can you feel that? That motion?
12:56That is a bus moving towards CĆ³rdoba on night one.
13:02Is that or is that not exactly what we wanted to do?
13:05Yeah, no, it is.
13:18Freddy always sleeps for about 18 hours on every bus.
13:21All teams have travelled through the night.
13:24As Geoff and Freddy approach busy transport hub CĆ³rdoba...
13:29Look at all the options!
13:31..Kelly and Jeremy are already there.
13:34Villa Giardino.
13:35..catching a connection to the wine region.
13:38We've absolutely smashed it.
13:40940km north-east...
13:43I feel tired.
13:45This bus is what you might call a bone-rattler.
13:48Having taken the road less travelled...
13:50Did you sleep well?
13:51No.
13:52No.
13:53..Scott and Sam are arriving in the small town of Empedrado.
13:59Wow.
14:02I feel we're the only tourists that have ever been here.
14:10I feel like we've made such a good start.
14:12Definitely, in the morning,
14:14I feel like we've made such a good start.
14:16Definitely in the more rural part of Argentina now.
14:20It's pretty stunning.
14:23270km south...
14:26Paula and Mary-Ellen have arrived in Esquina.
14:31Come on, you lazy cows.
14:34I'm coming, I'm coming!
14:36Lush, fertile marshes and lagoons on the ParanĆ” riverbank
14:41breathe life into the ranches nearby,
14:43where the traditional way of life
14:45of the Argentinian gaucho is alive and strong.
14:49Have you got many horses?
14:51Many horses? Like 80 horses?
14:53I'm so excited!
14:54Do you know how to ride?
14:55No, but when in Argentina, huh?
14:57OK.
14:58I'm not looking forward to horse riding, that's dangerous.
15:00I've never done it before.
15:03Klaus is a third-generation descendant of livestock breeders
15:06that have been working their land since 1920.
15:11Oh, God, this looks like heaven.
15:13It's something out of the movies, honestly.
15:17We'll work hard today, eh?
15:19Yes.
15:20You will be tired at the end of the day.
15:22Now we'll prepare the food for the pigs.
15:25In exchange for a night's bed and board,
15:27the cousins are mucking in.
15:29More, more, more.
15:30Both hands.
15:31They're hungry!
15:36Hey!
15:39Come on, both.
15:41Come inside.
15:42Come on, Kala.
15:43No, but we have to go inside, eh?
15:45Go on, Kala.
15:47Come on.
15:49I know Kala's scared when he gets a little bit quiet.
15:53And it's just because he hasn't done it before,
15:55so he doesn't know what to expect,
15:57you know, going into the unknown,
15:59and that is a place he fears.
16:01Perfect.
16:05Oh, my God, they're so greedy.
16:09Thank you, guys.
16:10Thank you, guys.
16:11Now we'll go and work with the sheep.
16:14Okay.
16:15You have to come with the sheep.
16:16Uh-huh.
16:17Go inside this little corral.
16:18Okay.
16:19And then you have to catch it.
16:20Catch a sheep?
16:21Catch a sheep.
16:22Okay.
16:25Come on, come on, come on.
16:26Close.
16:27Close, close, close.
16:33Catch one.
16:34Very strong, eh?
16:36And bring it here.
16:37Like that.
16:38Come on.
16:39Very good.
16:40Honey, we're just trying to give you
16:41a nice little bit of feathering,
16:43some layers.
16:45Yes, that's correct.
16:47Kala, you do it.
16:48I'll hold the legs.
16:49Hold them.
16:50Hold them here.
16:56This is hard, man.
17:00It's actually really satisfying.
17:02It's been a while since we've done things
17:04other than partying.
17:06Yeah, this is completely different.
17:08A million miles from my normal life.
17:10God, how can you cut with confidence?
17:13Sheep can be, you know, kicky.
17:16I've seen a change in Kala.
17:18I feel so proud of you
17:20for not being as scared
17:22as I thought you'd be.
17:23Yeah, you've done so well.
17:24That's great.
17:25I was actually prepared to laugh at you
17:27a little bit, but no.
17:28Maybe it's the Irish in us.
17:29We're always meant to be connected
17:31to agriculture.
17:32The objective for this leg
17:34is to make up ground
17:36because it's the penultimate leg.
17:38Yeah.
17:39The strategy is to find a job
17:41that gives accommodation
17:43and then spend another night
17:45on a bus to a checkpoint.
17:47When we've done that,
17:48we've done really well.
17:49Jeff and Freddie are pushing ahead
17:51towards the town of San Jose de las Salinas.
17:54I thought we was going to start
17:55sort of ascending
17:57to a bit of height,
17:58but we haven't yet.
18:00It's very countryside.
18:02I like to be in the city.
18:04We used to live in the countryside.
18:06Did you not like it?
18:07Where we live now is all right,
18:09but when I'm older,
18:10I'd like to live
18:11right in the middle of central London.
18:15I love you living with me,
18:17but I think that you living with me
18:19is counterproductive.
18:21What are you learning off of me?
18:23A lot.
18:24Hmm.
18:25I'm pretty...
18:26Anything you're going to learn from me
18:28Anything you're going to learn from me
18:30you've learned.
18:32Which, by the way,
18:33I'm not sure I've seen
18:34loads of evidence.
18:37I think everything else
18:38for you is out there.
18:40That's where all the lessons
18:41are for you now.
18:42We're going in different directions,
18:43you and I.
18:44If you want to be in the middle
18:45of something,
18:46I want to be out of it.
18:47I want nice walks,
18:49peace and quiet.
18:50I'll be moving
18:51to the countryside again.
18:53Or the seaside.
18:54I could do seaside.
18:56It wouldn't be busy seaside, though.
18:58If it's got a pier.
19:00Yeah, I don't want a pier.
19:05Oh, look at the views!
19:07Oh my God, it reminds me
19:08of Italy so much.
19:09So it's similar to this.
19:11It's like dreamy.
19:12It's lovely.
19:18Just 70km ahead,
19:20Kelly and Jeremy have arrived
19:21to work in Villa Giardino,
19:23one of Argentina's
19:25smaller and lesser-known
19:26wine regions.
19:27CĆ³rdoba has seen
19:28a recent renaissance.
19:30Welcome to Nevula.
19:32With high-altitude plantations
19:34attracting a new generation
19:35of winemakers,
19:37like Sean.
19:38So all of this is yours?
19:40Yes.
19:41We inherited the land
19:42with my sisters.
19:43Jeremy,
19:44this would be your dream
19:45in Italy,
19:46to create something
19:47like this, wouldn't it?
19:48It's a good inspiration.
19:49I'm really proud
19:50of being Italian.
19:52My family comes
19:53from a small town.
19:54My name is Arpino
19:55and my family is here
19:56since more than
19:5720 generations.
19:59I feel I've got so much
20:00energy when I'm
20:01in a place like this.
20:02Yeah.
20:03We replanted
20:04some of the plants
20:05and now we have
20:06to tutor them.
20:07Tie a little bit
20:08of string to the plant
20:09so then you can
20:10climb up the string.
20:11I think this is
20:12going to be work
20:13I'm going to enjoy.
20:14Yeah, I did this
20:15when I was young
20:16with my grandparents.
20:17I consider myself
20:18as a country boy.
20:19I love to open
20:20the door of my home,
20:21breathe.
20:23Can you imagine
20:24my granddad
20:25was telling me
20:26about his grandparents
20:27in Arpino?
20:28Yeah.
20:29It's mad when we go
20:30to the graveyard there
20:31and it's like
20:32Jeremy's related
20:33to everybody.
20:34Is that where
20:35you're going to bury me?
20:36Yeah.
20:37In one of those tombs?
20:38Oh, you can choose.
20:39Can I?
20:40I feel like Italians
20:41are so obsessed with death.
20:42I've never really
20:43thought about
20:44where I was going
20:45to be buried
20:46until I met you
20:47and I was like
20:48I guess I'll be
20:49here then, won't I?
20:50There's a lot of
20:51uncertainty about
20:52the future and where
20:53we're going to end up
20:54and obviously being
20:55a woman of 44
20:56with no children
20:57you're a bit of
20:58an anomaly.
20:59You're at a
21:00crossroads in your life.
21:01Are you just
21:02going to be
21:03this career woman?
21:04Are you going to
21:05be the family woman?
21:06Are you just
21:07going to be a wife?
21:08And I'm not sure
21:09I want to just
21:10do what everyone
21:11else does.
21:12This is so nice.
21:13I could be out
21:14here all day
21:15doing this.
21:16This doesn't
21:17even work for me.
21:18Doesn't that
21:19remind you
21:20of the Abrizzo
21:21in Empedrado?
21:23This is like a
21:24quiet little town
21:25isn't it?
21:26We've decided to
21:27go a route
21:28that most people
21:29don't go.
21:30I mean,
21:31there's definitely
21:32no tourists.
21:33Wow,
21:34we're the only ones
21:35that got off the bus.
21:36We're off to
21:37meet a man
21:38called Gonzalo
21:39to work.
21:40Cleaning some
21:41cars.
21:42I think we're
21:43just going to be
21:44walking up and
21:45down here
21:46for four hours.
21:47Are you coming?
21:48I can tell.
21:49Sam today
21:50is tired.
21:51Yeah,
21:52just walking down
21:53someone's street.
21:54He's a little bit
21:55miserable and
21:56he's finding it
21:57tough.
21:58We've been doing
21:59this for a few
22:00weeks now
22:01and it can
22:02slightly grind
22:03you down.
22:04Is that him?
22:05No,
22:06it's just a
22:07man walking
22:08a dog.
22:09Okay.
22:10Hang on,
22:11there he is.
22:12Hello.
22:13Scott and Sam
22:14have a shift
22:15at a car
22:16garage on
22:17the banks
22:18of the Parana
22:19Coast for Sam
22:20with a joyride
22:21around the
22:22golden cliffs
22:23and sweeping
22:24sand dunes
22:25that stretch
22:26along the
22:27riverbank.
22:28Come on.
22:29Is your dog?
22:30Jack.
22:31Hi Jack.
22:32Their driver,
22:33Gonzalo,
22:34is a former
22:35pro rally racer.
22:36I am driver
22:37of motorcycle
22:38and in race
22:39in car.
22:40But no racing
22:41now?
22:42No,
22:43professional
22:44but yeah,
22:45I miss you,
22:46race.
22:47You still like
22:49me?
22:50Yes,
22:51a lot.
22:52Are you excited
22:53for the dunes?
22:54No,
22:55I'm scared.
22:56I think Gonzalo
22:57will go fast.
22:58It'll be fun.
22:59Ticks all boxes
23:00for me,
23:01it's fast-paced
23:02and exciting.
23:03Nothing to be scared
23:04of,
23:05is there?
23:06No.
23:07Sure?
23:08Watch me!
23:09Ah!
23:10Who put that
23:11on your car?
23:12No.
23:13Good to see
23:14in Argentina
23:15they still use
23:16the same jokes
23:17as us.
23:18It's hysterical.
23:19I feel that
23:20he is
23:21a bit burnt out
23:22by this whole thing
23:23today.
23:24But Sam
23:25loves speed
23:26and adrenaline
23:27so
23:28I reckon it will
23:29boost him
23:30and I think
23:31he needs it.
23:32Maybe
23:33wash my
23:34doggy?
23:35Excellent!
23:36Are you ready
23:37for the boogie?
23:38Yes!
23:39This is what
23:40I want to do.
23:41I feel a bit sick
23:42now,
23:43I might have to
23:44go to the loo
23:45before I go.
23:46This is not
23:48spartano?
23:49Ah!
23:50Oh!
23:51Hehehe!
23:52Hehehe!
23:53Jesus!
23:54F**k!
23:55Slow!
23:56Slow!
23:57Slow!
23:58Oh no, no, no, no, no, no, no!
24:00No, no, no, no!
24:01I think me and Sam
24:02work well because
24:03we do compromise
24:04as a couple.
24:05Ah!
24:06Ah!
24:07Hahaha!
24:08Ah!
24:09Ah!
24:10Hahaha!
24:11This is a
24:12small price to pay
24:13just to see him
24:14smile again
24:15on a day where
24:16There hasn't been that much of that.
24:18Oh!
24:19Oh, shit.
24:20Oh!
24:20Oh!
24:21Oh!
24:21Oh!
24:22Oh!
24:22Oh, shit.
24:24I enjoyed that.
24:26That's picked me up today.
24:29What are you doing?
24:32I don't know.
24:34Oh, shit.
24:37To be fair, that was a lot smoother
24:38than some of the bus journeys we've had this trip.
24:40True.
24:42Oh, horsey.
24:45Oh, horsey.
24:47Hiya, good boy.
24:50Oh, he's so beautiful.
24:52Having spent the morning working on Klaus's ranch.
24:56All right, mate.
24:58Kola and Mary-Ellen are getting acquainted with the horses.
25:02Around the neck first, with the rein.
25:04This is a territory that I've never been in.
25:07Me and horses don't really have a relationship.
25:11But that's going to change today.
25:13Horses like pink.
25:15It's just so grounding to be around animals.
25:18I feel like if you're sad, just come and pet a horse.
25:25OK.
25:30Turn around with the neck.
25:33It's different from English time.
25:36This is more country style, more Western style.
25:40Kola, are you OK?
25:41Yeah.
25:42On this race, I hope to see a different side to Kola.
25:47Are you loving this?
25:48Yeah.
25:49So calming, isn't it?
25:50Yeah.
25:52A more sensitive side to him, where
25:54he does process his feelings and talks about them
26:00a little bit more.
26:02My first time riding a horse.
26:06It's so peaceful, and I thought it would be quite stressful.
26:11I feel like I'm getting the hang of it, you know?
26:14The past few years, it hasn't been an easy ride for him.
26:18I want him to really process and go through it all,
26:21and I don't think he's done that.
26:26It's not a bad life, is it?
26:29Come on.
26:29Cheers.
26:30That was great, man.
26:32Yeah?
26:33Cheers.
26:34That was really nice.
26:35It's really soothing.
26:37This is one of the best experiences
26:38that I've had in a long time.
26:41I don't really stop and put my life in perspective,
26:44and I hardly ever stop and just think and look up, you know?
26:50Being here makes you feel I am not the main character of life.
26:56The life goes on, whether you're here or not.
27:01And there's something beautiful about that.
27:05Last year wasn't the best year for me.
27:08I lost my dad.
27:12It was a long road.
27:15He had dementia for, like, three years.
27:21Yeah.
27:22It took everything from him.
27:25It was extremely stressful, going to set
27:28and then coming back to look after my dad.
27:31I think, out of all of our family members,
27:34I was the last one that he remembered.
27:38And then, nothing.
27:44Heartbreaking.
27:46You almost grieve for them while they're still alive,
27:50when their personality is almost all but gone.
27:52So when he actually finally passed,
27:55it was a sense of, selfishly, a little bit of relief,
27:58because I didn't have to see him the way he was in his final days.
28:07I like to believe he's at peace now.
28:10He's not alone, he's not in the dark anymore,
28:12because that's what the disease does to you.
28:14It puts you in the dark.
28:16I do miss him, but, like, this opportunity came about,
28:21and it was a chance to disconnect and, in a sense, heal a little bit.
28:29There's something so calming about being on that horse.
28:32It took everything away.
28:33For a split second, it was just me,
28:36chilling with a ride on the horse.
28:39And that's what mattered.
28:48Fredgy, two minutes.
28:51After 20 hours on the road,
28:53Geoff and Freddie have reached San Jose de las Salinas.
28:57We've found ourselves in some places, haven't we?
28:59Aye.
29:01Hola! Bienvenidos.
29:03Me llamo Geoff. Hi, I am Adriana.
29:05Adriana runs a hotel near the Salinas Grandes salt flats,
29:10where they've secured a free bed for the night
29:12and returned for a housekeeping shift.
29:17We have to tuck it in, and we have to do that nice corner effect.
29:23So grabbing the corners.
29:25Yeah.
29:26Like a Christmas present.
29:28Never even wrapped a Christmas present.
29:32Do you box your bed corners back on?
29:34No, I don't. I do make it as soon as I get up, though.
29:38What do they say? Clean bedroom, clean mind.
29:41That's why I ain't had the cleanest of minds, then.
29:44I make a good house...
29:46No, that's what I find the word.
29:49A good house son.
29:50Like, I am...
29:51That's a new definition. A house son.
29:53Have you ever heard of a house son?
29:55You're a great house son. I'm quite helpful.
29:57Yeah. Well, I want to be.
29:58What's that bump in the middle of the bed?
30:00That's just the mattress.
30:03Oh, no.
30:06Yeah, it is the mattress.
30:07Good at putting washes on for everyone.
30:09Mm. Yeah.
30:11So this is Fred's argument as to why...
30:13But I just don't fold it.
30:14..you should stay living at home for an extended period.
30:18I feel like, actually, I'm not doing you any good
30:21by giving you a free ride.
30:24It's not a free ride. I'm paying rent now.
30:25You pay a bit of rent. It doesn't even cover the electric,
30:28but it's definitely a start on the ladder
30:32towards having responsibilities.
30:34What it's more about is that I realise, Fred,
30:37that the longer I make things really easy for you,
30:42the less inclined you are to go and actually take
30:45full responsibility for your own life.
30:47Yeah, all right.
30:48Shall we make bed as well? Yeah, yeah.
30:50I think we need to have this conversation,
30:53otherwise we're not really getting anywhere.
30:55But, no, we still want to chat.
30:57No, no, I feel like you've shut that convo down.
31:00No, I haven't shut it down.
31:02We need to work as well as talk.
31:06Always a difficult discussion, but I guess I brought it up
31:09because he's holding himself back.
31:11I find that really upsetting because you want him to unleash
31:15all of the wonderful stuff that's inside him.
31:18I can't be the solution for him.
31:20But what I can do is stop making everything so easy for him.
31:23For Nito? Yes!
31:26You are not being asked to leave
31:29and you are welcome to stay with me for...
31:32For, like, another two years.
31:34Yeah, I'd say a maximum of two years, yeah.
31:38All right, that's fair. That's enough time.
31:42We go now to a very special place.
31:46OK.
31:50The Salinas Grande Salt Flats,
31:52a white desert stretching out over 200,000 hectares.
31:57OK. Gracias.
32:00The waters here create a translucent sea
32:03over the vast salt plains,
32:05giving the effect of an eternal horizon.
32:11The people here say the sun dances in the sky.
32:16That sounds incredible.
32:18Is this salt as well, then?
32:21Put it in your mouth.
32:23It is. It's salt.
32:25It's just salt.
32:26Probably a bit of dirt and all.
32:28Look at that.
32:31Is the sun dancing, do you think?
32:33Do you think it's moving around?
32:35I think it's pretty stationary.
32:38My focus has obviously been on Freddy and his brother for so long,
32:42but they're both of an age where at some point they'll move out
32:46and then we'll all be in a very different phase of life.
32:49How do you feel, Dad?
32:50This is probably the best thing
32:54that we could have done this whole trip.
32:57I know who I am as a dad
32:59because I've been playing that role for 20-odd years.
33:02And it doesn't always leave much space for you to be anything else.
33:09And it's maybe not until you take that hat off,
33:11because they've moved out,
33:13that you then start to really look at, right, well, who am I
33:16and how I go about the next phase of my life.
33:20I kind of see this trip as the start of that process.
33:24This is like perfection for me.
33:26I would have travelled ten times as far
33:29and sat on ten times as many coaches to have got here to watch that.
33:33Oh, wow.
33:35I'm not sure about the coaches,
33:36but I'm very glad that I got to see this with you.
33:40In Villa Giardino...
33:41This looks lovely.
33:43Is this your wine? Is this from your vineyard?
33:45Kelly and Jeremy are enjoying the hospitality of Sean and his family.
33:50And where do you live now?
33:52London. I just went to London when I met my wife.
33:55She said, stay in London for...
33:57You enjoyed living in Italy more than, like, France, for example?
34:01Yeah. Yeah. I think I love where I come from.
34:04My blood and genitalia are in London.
34:07I think Jeremy and I have wondered a lot about where our home is.
34:11This is very Italian.
34:12This is really Italian, yeah.
34:14So when we're sitting here now, I'm like,
34:16oh, my God, it's so similar, isn't it?
34:18I do feel like this whole experience
34:21has made Jeremy and I re-evaluate what's important to us.
34:25Home is where we are together, ultimately.
34:27We could live anywhere in the world.
34:29So if Jeremy wants to spend a few years in Italy,
34:31I don't know, we'll go to Italy.
34:33So if Jeremy wants to spend a few years in Italy,
34:36I don't know, we'll renovate an old farm building
34:39and grow some olives.
34:42I'm down for that.
34:44Whilst Kelly and Jeremy take advantage of a free bed for the night,
34:481,000km away...
34:51Looking forward to sleep, to be honest.
34:53And then we will tackle tomorrow.
34:55Tomorrow.
34:56..with no buses out, Scott and Sam are stranded in Empedrado.
35:00Hello.
35:01Do you have a room for two people?
35:04That's a lot of money.
35:07And that's your cheapest room?
35:08Cheapest.
35:09That's a lot, isn't it?
35:11The only room available will wipe out today's earnings.
35:17What do you want to say?
35:22We're just going to see what other options are.
35:26We'll be annoyed if there's another hotel down the road
35:28that's half the price.
35:29I just don't know what other options we're going to find
35:31because we've never been here before in our lives.
35:34I just think we're tired now,
35:36we don't know what to do with ourselves.
35:37Like, we can't make a decision.
35:39So let's just get some sleep.
35:44Yeah, yeah, OK.
35:46Hi.
35:47It's us again.
35:49Can we have that room, please?
35:53It's more than we want to spend.
35:57Shattered.
35:58I think this is the tiredest I've ever been.
36:01When you're in first place, you're always constantly worried.
36:05Any decision that you make,
36:07that could mean someone's catching up with you.
36:10I'm trying not to let it consume me too much.
36:13Maybe today I've let it consume me a bit more
36:15because I'm tired and I'm overthinking things.
36:20Right, shall we get some sleep?
36:22Get the light off then.
36:28On the road again.
36:30Departing gaucho country...
36:33Adios!
36:34..Cola and Mary-Ellen bag a free lift
36:37from their host to the nearest town.
36:39This is the last leg.
36:41We want to get as close to the top as we can
36:44for the very last run.
36:46They still have to travel over 1,200km
36:50to reach the checkpoint.
36:54Come on, Cola.
36:55They head to the nearest big city, Corrientes.
36:58Hoping for number one spot,
37:00you've just got to keep eye on the price.
37:02We need to go to Corrientes.
37:04Heading the same way,
37:06Scott and Sam have a 270km head start.
37:12Could you please call us a taxi?
37:18Oh.
37:19We are in a small town, Sam.
37:23No-one's taken a taxi for ten years.
37:25I didn't think it would be this hard to get out of here.
37:31To the west...
37:32Let's go. We are now racing to checkpoint.
37:35..two teams are looking to get on the move.
37:37Come on, then, let's go and get a job.
37:39To reach the checkpoint,
37:41they can either go back on themselves to Cordoba,
37:43the country's second biggest city,
37:45or find alternative transport going north.
37:49Do you think I'll be able to get a bus from here to Tilcara?
37:53No, you must go back to Cordoba.
37:55From Cordoba, you can go everywhere.
37:59Do you think that there is someone here that I can pay to drive?
38:03Maybe.
38:05We only have two legs to go,
38:06but we have not spent lots of money,
38:09so we can take a taxi to get...to be quicker.
38:12Maybe we can get a taxi.
38:15Thank you so much.
38:18To travel four hours back down south,
38:21where we've already been, to then take ourselves up north,
38:25now is when we should start using the extra budget
38:29that we feel like we've got to our advantage.
38:31Driver tells us he can bring you to Frias.
38:35Yeah, where is Frias?
38:37I don't know if you see it.
38:38I think it's on the way or here.
38:41Yeah, it's forwards. I like that.
38:43With Geoff's discovery of Frias,
38:46a small town 170km north and closer to the checkpoint,
38:51father and son have a decision to make.
38:54You need to get your opinion on stuff, right?
38:56We can go back to Cordoba, which feels like a safe option.
38:58We'll be on an overnight bus.
39:00But what he actually recommends
39:02is taking us to a place called Frias.
39:04It's not on the map, but it's on this road.
39:07That way, we're moving towards the checkpoint.
39:09You're pointing at the corner of that road there.
39:11What will be there?
39:12I don't know.
39:13She wasn't able to necessarily point me exactly,
39:16but we would get from that road onto there
39:21and then round to there.
39:22You know there's good links from Cordoba.
39:25There's always going to be an element of a risk.
39:27It's not something I'm particularly good at,
39:29but we've come in fourth.
39:30We are racing after all.
39:32Yeah, let's do it.
39:34Yes, Freddy, on to Frias.
39:39We need to get to a main bus terminal,
39:41book a ticket and just go.
39:43180km south, Kelly and Jeremy choose the opposite approach.
39:48How long will it take to get to Cordoba?
39:50We are actually north of Cordoba right now,
39:52which means we are closer to checkpoint.
39:54Okay.
39:55However, we think if we go back to Cordoba,
39:58there'll be a much better bus connection.
40:01Is this a bus, this one?
40:02Babe, come on.
40:04Even though we're going to forfeit two hours,
40:05it's worth a gamble.
40:07Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
40:12Bus station with no buses.
40:14Let's go find the bus.
40:21I don't even want to say.
40:22Yeah, it's just not looking good.
40:24This could be really disappointing.
40:27Hola, que tal?
40:29Buenos, bueno.
40:31Okay.
40:32Frias, Tilcara, not direct.
40:38TucumƔn.
40:39Oh, she's taking us to TucumƔn.
40:41We're not getting far, then.
40:44With no direct buses available to Tilcara,
40:47their only option today is a bus to the city of TucumƔn,
40:50just four hours north.
40:54Right, Fred, I've put us in this little corner,
40:57so apologies for that.
41:00Dad, we're a team.
41:01You won't let me down.
41:05This is one of the most useless feelings
41:07I've had this whole trip.
41:09So, look, let's just compare the two, right?
41:11Cordoba, 800 bus companies,
41:15all open, all hours.
41:18Here.
41:18Frias, two companies.
41:21Safe, I kept saying, you know, I've always been safe,
41:25and I would have gone to Cordoba nine times out of 10.
41:30Freddy, I will not stop until we get our onward travel
41:33sorted out.
41:37Tricara.
41:38Having gone in the opposite direction to Jeff and Freddy,
41:42Kelly and Jeremy are hoping to find the exit.
41:45The earliest bus leaving today.
41:48Que hora?
41:50Eight o'clock.
41:51Oh, my God, baby, I had to wait.
41:54Baby, it's another six hours
41:55waiting around a bus station.
41:56Let's book it.
41:58Despite a six-hour wait,
41:59their overnight bus will take them
42:01to San Salvador de Jujuy,
42:04the nearest big city to Tilcara,
42:06just 85 kilometres from the checkpoint.
42:11Is it the bed option?
42:13You can have a bed, and I'll take the one upstairs.
42:16Why don't we just both have a bed?
42:18You have a bed, I'll pay you a bed,
42:20and I'll go upstairs.
42:22No, I'm not doing that.
42:24No, no, it's fine, you can have it.
42:26But isn't it, so for 15 pounds, you don't want a bed?
42:30We need some money for next week.
42:31No, I'll come up with you then.
42:33You can have a bed.
42:34No, Jeremy, I'm not going to keep doing this.
42:36OK.
42:37It's not fair.
42:38OK.
42:39Because you're just making me look like
42:40I'm a diva all the time, and I'm not.
42:42It's such a small amount of money, Jeremy,
42:44and at the end of the race,
42:45you're going to have all this money left over,
42:47and we've suffered the whole time.
42:49I'm not going to keep doing this.
42:50OK, we change for the bed.
42:53We upgraded.
42:56How could you go 13 hours upstairs,
42:58and I'm downstairs?
42:59Wouldn't you miss me?
43:00No, but...
43:01Yeah.
43:04With time to kill...
43:05What do you want to do?
43:06I don't want six hours in a bus station.
43:08They head into Cordoba.
43:10It's good to explore.
43:13It's so pretty.
43:15It's nice to see a place like this.
43:16Yeah?
43:17You see so much European influence, don't you?
43:20Named after the Spanish city,
43:22Cordoba was founded in the late 16th century,
43:25developed by the Jesuit missionaries from colonial Spain.
43:30Oh, wow.
43:31In the centre, Cordoba Cathedral,
43:34the oldest in Argentina.
43:37This is one of your beautiful churches.
43:41It's more beautiful than waiting three hours in the bus station.
43:44Built originally in the 1500s,
43:47the building suffered a collapse 150 years later
43:50and was redesigned by an Italian architect
43:53in the shape of a Latin cross.
43:55Jeremy and I didn't get married in an Italian church.
43:59We decided to get married in the garden of the castle in Alpena.
44:04It was, like, the biggest thunderstorm you'd ever seen.
44:08Jeremy, I'm coming!
44:13He said the rain was cleansing me
44:15because I was marrying a Catholic.
44:18Italian.
44:19And I was too dirty and I needed to be cleansed.
44:22I was too dirty and you need to clean everything.
44:29Kiss, kiss.
44:34Do you feel cleansed?
44:38I think the others have taken a different route entirely.
44:41You just don't know.
44:43To the east, two teams are en route to Corrientes.
44:48Ready for another long bus.
44:50This must be it.
44:57Gracias.
44:59We are looking for our bus to Tilcara.
45:03Tilcara?
45:07No direct bus.
45:08No directo?
45:09OK, I think we should just go to Salta.
45:12The closest they can get to the checkpoint is Salta,
45:15a city 200km shy of Tilcara.
45:19It's not cheap, this bus lot in Argentina.
45:22Gracias. Thank you so much.
45:24Oh, she was nice.
45:25They are way much more money than I was expecting.
45:28We thought the less-travelled route in Argentina
45:30would mean that it's less expensive.
45:33It's four hours away from now.
45:37We will lose a lot of time in those four hours.
45:40Oh, oh, oh.
45:41What?
45:43Just saw a caller in there, eh?
45:45Hello.
45:46You look nice.
45:48It's the most expensive bus.
45:50It's so expensive.
45:51See you in a minute, yeah.
45:53One, two, three, four, five, six, seven.
45:58It's never nice when you see another team
46:00because you know then you're not in first anymore.
46:03How are you feeling about that?
46:04A bit gutted.
46:05There was probably about 12 hours between us,
46:07Carla and Mary.
46:08That is really reassuring, to be honest,
46:11considering they came first, the last leg.
46:13Well, obviously we're on the same bus as Carla and Mary,
46:16but then it's what happens when we get there
46:19and also when we get off.
46:21Sorry, got here first, all right?
46:23Move out of my way.
46:26I think it's going to be very close.
46:30800km west...
46:32Frank, Fred, I'm going in.
46:34All right, all the best. Do it for us.
46:37..on their short bus ride to Tucuman,
46:40Geoff is determined to keep them moving
46:42by finding an overnight bus towards the checkpoint.
46:45Hola. I need to buy a ticket for the bus, Omnibus.
46:53Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
46:55I'm not asking for money. No.
46:58No. I need a ticket.
47:01My mum teaches English.
47:03Wow!
47:13Hola, mi madre.
47:15ĀæQuĆ© tal?
47:17I'm hoping to book a ticket.
47:20Can you tell him this?
47:23Please.
47:27Ooh-hoo-hoo!
47:29San Salvador, are you able to buy the tickets
47:33and I can give you the money there?
47:35Gracias.
47:37You have... You make a grande difference.
47:41Yes, Fred!
47:45Yes, Fred.
47:47Yes, Fred.
47:49Oh!
47:51That is such a relief.
47:53Where's it going to?
47:55To the checkpoint, tonight.
47:57To Cordoba? Right.
47:59Well, not to Tilcara, actually, to San Salvador,
48:02but this now becomes the better outcome than Cordoba.
48:06I believe in us. We're a good team.
48:10Yeah, you watch the bags really well tonight, Fred.
48:17That was a horrible bus.
48:19Oh, I thought it was the best bus I've been on.
48:21Really?
48:22After travelling over 13 hours through the night,
48:25two teams arrive in Salta.
48:28With 200km still to go before they reach the checkpoint...
48:32I'm worried that taxi's too expensive
48:34and we haven't got the money.
48:36We're losing money all the time.
48:38..both teams plot their final dash.
48:41So, what shall I do?
48:44I'd love a taxi.
48:45But I don't think we're going to get that two-hour journey
48:48with the money we have.
48:52I'll go and see how much a taxi would be.
48:55Hello.
48:56Speak English. Speak English.
48:58Tilcara.
49:00$50.
49:01Tilcara.
49:03Omnibus.
49:04One to Tempo.
49:0510.30.
49:11Tempo.
49:1210.30.
49:14Gracias.
49:16OK, I don't need to ask.
49:19Half ten.
49:20What's it say?
49:21$50.
49:22Yeah, bro.
49:26They're still there.
49:31Are they in a taxi?
49:32Tilcara?
49:33$100.
49:34$100.
49:35Can you do it for 50 and 30,000 Argentinean money?
49:40See?
49:41I mean, the bus is not now till 10.30,
49:43so that's two and a half hours' wait,
49:45so it's another gamble that we've got to take.
49:50Taxi.
49:51We're on our way.
49:52We've made the decision.
49:54First to arrive in the province of the checkpoint...
49:57Dad, it says Tilcara.
49:59OK, look.
50:00..Geoff and Freddie have found a quick connection to Tilcara.
50:04Dad, there's a bus right behind us.
50:06That could be an opportunity.
50:08Let me see if anyone gets off from the backpack.
50:10..just arriving in San Salvador de Jujuy...
50:13It's annoying, we just missed a bus by one minute.
50:15Yeah, I know.
50:16I feel excited.
50:17I can smell the bush.
50:21..rather than waiting for the next bus,
50:23Kelly and Jeremy splash out to stay in the running.
50:29All teams start their ascent on the same road
50:32through Quebrada de Umahuaca.
50:34The views up here are just something else.
50:39This feels unlike anything we've seen before on this trip.
50:44We drove through some mountains in Brazil,
50:46but they were nowhere near as tall.
50:48Love a mountain range, Fred.
50:50Stretching 155km,
50:53once a major trade route for the Inca Empire
50:57in the 15th and 16th century.
50:59I feel like I'm in Star Wars or something.
51:02Characterised by its landscapes of multicoloured canyons,
51:06towering rock formations
51:08and arid, ochre-hued desert terrain.
51:11This is some of the most stunning scenery we've seen, I think.
51:142,500m above sea level,
51:17the fifth checkpoint,
51:19the tiny mountain town of Tilcara.
51:26Is this Tilcara?
51:28Gosh, it's gorgeous.
51:30This reminds me of the Wild Wild West.
51:39After traversing almost half the length of Argentina,
51:43all teams are neck and neck.
51:45This is anyone's, I think.
51:48Oh!
51:50Hi.
51:51Sam's got it there, they've just got it out of the car.
51:53You'd better run as quick as you can, Collar.
51:55Ready, Sam? Let's do it.
51:57OK, let's go.
51:58Oh, my God, we're really racing now.
52:00Mary and Collar are here as well.
52:05Go to the market and find the Trinity of Bast.
52:10Await there for further instructions.
52:14Where's the market?
52:15Market, market, maybe this way?
52:17Oh, my God, the boys are there.
52:18Come on, Mary.
52:19Ask these people.
52:20Hola. Market.
52:21Do you know where the Trinity of Bast is?
52:23If I know where the Trinity of Bast is,
52:25it's this way cos everyone else has gone this way,
52:27so let's go.
52:28Go on, mate, just behind you.
52:30Bast, what's that?
52:32Bast is like a head, it's like a head of something.
52:35Look, it's behind us.
52:36Who is it?
52:37Geoff and Freddie.
52:41Come on, Mary.
52:42Right, I need the water.
52:45Do you find it hard to breathe?
52:46Mm-hm.
52:47It's the altitude.
52:48There's not as much oxygen up here.
52:51Freddie, were you looking for the Mercado?
52:54No, I'm looking for Trinity of Bast.
52:56Right, tell me so we can ask people.
52:58Hola.
52:59Trip.
53:00Trinity of Bast.
53:01Trinity.
53:02I don't think anything's down there.
53:03Go to the market.
53:05Look, that looks like a market right in front of us.
53:07Market's just there.
53:08OK, Mary, the market's just here.
53:12Hola.
53:13Excusez-moi.
53:14Excusez-moi.
53:15Excusez-moi.
53:16Excusez-moi.
53:17Excusez-moi.
53:18Excusez-moi.
53:19Hola.
53:20Excusez-moi.
53:21Sorry.
53:22Statues?
53:23Trinity?
53:24No.
53:25Is that the market?
53:26No.
53:27It's a butcher's?
53:29Trinity of Bast.
53:31One, two, three.
53:32Bast.
53:34Go right behind the church.
53:37And then find Las Marias Hotel.
53:43Church?
53:44Church?
53:46God?
53:47Church?
53:48Hola.
53:49The church?
53:51Gracias.
53:52Trinity of Bast.
53:53OK, go this way.
53:54No.
53:56Oh, God.
53:57No one's ever heard of it.
54:01Looks like a church.
54:02Church.
54:05He knows because they're all the way up there.
54:09And you see them blue bags?
54:10That's where we're headed.
54:11Yeah.
54:12Oh, shit.
54:13Quick, quick, quick.
54:15Fred, pace it, mate.
54:17What is he doing?
54:20Turn right behind the church.
54:23Oh, my calves.
54:25Can you see it?
54:26Come on, man.
54:27Come on, man.
54:28Fred, little burst if you want it.
54:30I've got a wedgie.
54:31My mouth is dry.
54:35Come on, man.
54:36I know it's hard.
54:37I know it's hard.
54:38Come on.
54:39Come on.
54:41Push it.
54:42Push it.
54:43Oh, my God.
54:44There it is.
54:45There it is.
54:47We're here.
54:48Come on, Fred.
54:50Come on.
54:55Good morning.
54:56Welcome to Las Marias Hotel Boutique.
55:06First baby.
55:08Finally.
55:09Number one.
55:10Finally.
55:11Yeah.
55:12It's a good feeling.
55:13Oh, proud of you.
55:16We've done it.
55:17We've done it.
55:22I haven't done them.
55:25Wow, seven minutes, innit?
55:26Yeah, I feel good.
55:27I kind of feel like we're first because the gap is just so short.
55:31We were 11 hours behind.
55:32We've clawed back a lot of time.
55:34It's great that we're in the mix, going into the last leg.
55:40Las Marias.
55:41Si.
55:42Si.
55:43Las Marinas.
55:46Oh.
55:49Third.
55:50It doesn't surprise me.
55:5115 minutes, innit?
55:52Yeah.
55:53That's us trying to find the busts.
55:54Yeah.
55:56He's here, babe.
55:59Made it.
56:00Oh, my God.
56:01OK, here we go.
56:03Oh, my God.
56:04I knew it.
56:05I knew it.
56:06Oh, dear.
56:07So we are all the same.
56:08Yeah.
56:09It doesn't matter.
56:10I don't like four, but when I saw the time,
56:12I said, OK, well, it's not too bad.
56:1440 minutes is nothing.
56:15I think we're feeling quite motivated, aren't we?
56:18It's literally like we're starting the race from scratch now.
56:22At the fifth and final checkpoint of the race,
56:25with 2,750 kilometres still to run until they reach the finish line,
56:30just 39 minutes separates all four teams.
56:35Anyone can win this.
56:37So we need to plot it right.
56:39One mistake, when it's this tight, can cost you the whole thing.
56:43We've just got to hope that we don't have any of those in the last leg.
56:52This is it.
56:53The last push.
56:55The race is anyone's.
56:56We're going to win.
56:57I'm manifesting my name in that book.
56:59Oh, 100%.
57:01This is the biggest decision we'll have to make.
57:03Go.
57:04Let's make it all count.
57:05It would really be something to cross the line first.
57:08Dad, we've just missed our bus.
57:10How have we messed this up?
57:12Oh, my God.
57:13This is the worst thing that's happened on the race so far.
57:17Can we come with you?
57:18You want to win so bad.
57:20Stop, stop, stop.
57:21There can be no slip-ups, no wrong turns,
57:24because every moment counts.
57:43We're going to win.
57:44We're going to win.
57:45We're going to win.
57:46We're going to win.
57:47We're going to win.
57:48We're going to win.
57:49We're going to win.
57:50We're going to win.
57:51We're going to win.
57:52We're going to win.
57:53We're going to win.
57:54We're going to win.
57:55We're going to win.
57:56We're going to win.
57:57We're going to win.
57:58We're going to win.
57:59We're going to win.
58:00We're going to win.
58:01We're going to win.
