00:00Now that the 107th anniversary of the former President Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr. has been commemorated,
00:06President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has returned to the spotlight.
00:09He became a guide in life and left a legacy of his father.
00:13But what stands out the most to him is the service and defense of the Filipinos and the country,
00:18according to Ken and Paciente.
00:22Growing up to be a Filipino,
00:25that is the legacy left by the former President Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr.
00:29to the current President of the country, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
00:33According to the President,
00:34that is the lesson that he will always be a guide, especially to his leader today.
00:38He gave that to the President along with the dedication
00:41of the 107th birthday of his father today,
00:45which was held in Batac, Ilocos Norte.
00:47When I look back now,
00:48the life that I have led,
00:51and I see what is the guiding principle that I can learn from my father.
00:56When things are confusing,
00:58when things have become so complex,
01:01what is the essence of service that my father taught me?
01:07And that is very simple, but not easy to achieve,
01:11but it is simple.
01:12Be a Filipino,
01:14serve the Filipino,
01:16protect Filipinos and the Philippines.
01:20The President also introduced his father's leader
01:22who, according to him, is serving as an inspiration today.
01:26His first foray into public service after his university
01:31and his law school was as a soldier,
01:35as a soldier during the war,
01:38where he was willing to make the ultimate sacrifice
01:42to defend his country and his people.
01:45He also encouraged everyone to preserve their love for their country,
01:49and at the same time, he encouraged his administration
01:52to continue to serve every Filipino
01:55according to what his father did.
01:57That is my continuing goal.
02:01That is the cradle that we should live by.
02:04And for that, I will be eternally grateful to my dad
02:09for the lessons that he taught us,
02:12for the values that he imbued in our very souls.
02:19And that has served us all well.
02:21The President and his family were also part of the Natna Teng Cook-off
02:25where different cuisines from different places in Ilocos Norte were served.
02:30The President also hosted the Ilocano Music Festival
02:34for his birthday on Friday.
02:36Kenneth Paciente,
02:39for Pambansang TV,
02:41in Bagong, Philippines.
