00:00National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAVDAC on Sunday said it has
00:06begun investigation into alleged act of criminality against Prophet Jeremiah Umoto for freeing
00:11of Christ Muslim Deliverance Ministry, CMDM over soap and other Miracle products sold
00:17to unsuspecting members of the public, claiming the products were registered and approved
00:22by NAVDAC.
00:23NAVDAC in a statement said the church is currently not cooperating with them in the course of
00:28their investigation.
00:29According to the regulatory body, the church has failed to honour their invitation but
00:35decided to issue a legal document claiming they got the NAVDAC approval indirectly from
00:41another business the church is into partnership with.
00:44NAVDAC in the statement warned the general public to stop buying the products, saying
00:50it never registered the products.
00:53The products listed include Miracle and Healing Water, River Jordan Water, and the Miracle
00:59Water from the Pool of Bethsaida.
01:02This was contained in a statement by the agency's resident media consultant, Oluseyo Akintola,
01:08in Abuja on Sunday.
01:11According to Akintola, Umoto is operating with Christ Mercy Land Delivery Ministries,
01:16KM5, Erfurun, Sapele Road, Delta State.
01:21He said that the suspect was selling Miracle Water, Miracle Soap, and other unregistered
01:27products to unsuspected Nigerians, claiming that they were all NAVDAC approved.
01:33He said that NAVDAC got the heal through a series of petitions from concerned citizens
01:38about Umoto.
01:40He said that the Miracle Water and Soap were advertised to have healing capacity and NAVDAC
01:45certification.
01:47The suspect showcased the use of the Miracle Water and Miracle Soap on social media.
01:53He claimed that they had the capacity to heal baroness and that women who used both products
01:58would be pregnant with twins.
02:01He openly told his congregation that the soap is NAVDAC registered, which attracted the
02:06public to begin to make efforts to verify the claim, he said.
02:11Akintola said that petitioners also submitted some of the products from the church to NAVDAC
02:16for verification.
02:18He listed the products to include Miracle and Healing Water, River Jordan Water, and
02:24the Miracle Water from the Pool of Bethsaida.
02:26Others are a new beginning Mountain Camel Miracle Water, Water of Life Miracle Water
02:32from the Pool of Bethsaida and Father Smelled Perfume.
02:36He said that upon receipt of the petitions, NAVDAC, through its Director of Post-Marketing
02:42Surveillance, PMS, contacted the Delta State Coordinator to verify the existence of the
02:48church.
02:50The state coordinator was also directed to take necessary regulatory action on the production
02:55facility in the church where the Miracle Water and other products were produced.
03:00He covertly bought the Miracle Water, 25 scintillators, for 3,000 Naira from the church and took pictures
03:08of other products, he said.
03:11The NAVDAC Media Consultant said that on visiting the church, subsequently, the team met the
03:17Head of Service, H.O.S. Ogunleye Fufeyin, and the Chief Security Officer, C.S.O.
03:24He said that officials of the church denied producing Miracle and Healing Water or so,
03:30even with the evidence of the receipt of purchase.
03:33On August 27, a team of investigators and enforcement team of NAVDAC, along with a federal
03:40task force on counterfeit and unwholesome foods, visited the church to commence an investigation.
03:48Officials of the church did not cooperate with the team, which prompted the issuing
03:52of a letter of invitation for them to report at the NAVDAC office in Acehba for further
03:58investigation, but it was not honored.
04:01Instead of honoring the invitation, they submitted a legal document at NAVDAC headquarters in
04:06Abuja on August 28, he said.
04:10Akintola said that a document made available to NAVDAC on September 12, 2024, claimed that
04:17the church entered a production agreement with One Global Table Water without the knowledge
04:23of NAVDAC.
04:24He said that the act was illegal according to the extant rules and regulations on commercial
04:29production.
04:31He said that the NAVDAC investigation and enforcement team had sold Global Table Water.
04:37He said that the factory was sued for adding and abetting the production, sale, and advertisement
04:43of unregistered and unwholesome Miracle Water with a fake NAVDAC registration number.
04:49NAVDAC wishes to inform the public that none of those products being advertised and sold
04:54are registered with NAVDAC.
04:57The public is also advised to stop patronizing any of those products.
05:02NAVDAC is a scientific organization that is guided by verifiable facts before registering
05:08any product.
05:10In the meantime, we will continue with our investigation into the activities of this
05:14first organization, he said.
05:18We had in the month of August reported that High Court sitting in Abuja has adjourned
05:22until September this month for Martins Vincent O'Shea aka Veridagman who identified himself
05:28as online police and Prophet Jeremiah Umoto-Fufain of Christ Muslim Deliverance Ministry, CMDM
05:34to begin legal argument over a soap said to be approved by National Agency for Food and
05:39Drug Administration and Control, NAVDAC which allegedly has the efficacy to kill people's
05:44suffering.
05:46On June 28, 2024, Prophet Jeremiah in a video comment on his verified Instagram page discussed
05:53the importance of a soap he described as a miracle soap.
05:57The Prophet spoke in a logical manner while advertising the soap and as at August 20,
06:032024 when we downloaded the video, some parts of the video has poor sound quality, preventing
06:09us from getting some other statements he made in the video.
06:13Some parts the video has good sound quality, Prophet Jeremiah talked about the importance
06:19of the soap and mentioned suffering, failure, disappointment and how the soap can be used
06:25to wash off body odor with prayers to God Almighty from him.
06:29On July 17, 2024, Veridagman in a video commentary on his verified Instagram page, played a video
06:38from his mobile phone, in which, Prophet Jeremiah said the miracle soap has NAVDAC number, adding,
06:45he wondered why people are suffering.
06:48According to the Prophet in the video, the soap is manufactured by a company but he needs
06:53to pray for the soap to work its wonders with the user having faith.
06:57Veridagman reacted and some parts of what he said reads thus, NAVDAC, I will come to
07:03your office later to drop a petition, you must tell us the ingredients they use in making
07:09soap that cures suffering since he is saying you approved it.
07:13As a pastor that claimed God called him, you are selling powers that God gave you for free
07:18to your members.
07:19NAVDAC prepare you, since you all were not, to be part of yayay things.
07:26Veridagman on August 9, 2024 posted a video and said, last one before we go caught.
07:33Passing sue me 1 billion, who, NA say make I no gather evidence, NA so, who, NA they
07:41do for here.
07:42Anything you buy you no need faith, if I buy Panadol, do I need faith for it to cure headache?
07:50So why I go need faith for miracle water when I use money buy?
07:54Upon all you no get NAVDAC.
07:57In another video post, Veridagman said, so, based on caught, I can't talk about Pastor
08:04Jeremiah anymore.
08:06And now to NAVDAC, I am giving you guys 2 days to put up a disclaimer on this whole
08:11soap saga or else we will all swim inside the poto-poto of disgrace.
08:17NAVDAC do the needful, it is our country, we should all think what is good for our people.
08:23Now all eyes on NAVDAC, let's see if they are truly doing their jobs to protect citizens
08:29from unregistered products that might be harmful to Nigerians or maybe it is by connection.
08:35Latest development, the founder of Christ Muslim Deliverance Ministry, CMDM, Prophet
08:42Jeremiah announced that, his spiritual products, including Pool of Bethesda Water and Red Sea
08:50Water, will not be sold anymore.
08:53The prophet cancelled the sales of the products after weeks of public scrutiny and pressure
08:58from social media user, Veridagman who continued to do videos of buying the products and testing
09:05the products on people who have health challenges.
09:08In numbers of videos, he questioned the legality and regulatory approval of selling the spiritual
09:14products which include Miracle Water, Perfume, Spiritual Shirt, Soap, Mustard Seed and One
09:21Shot Oil.
09:22Veridagman in some of the videos he posted after he was served a lawsuit of 1 billion
09:28Naira, went an extra step of testing the products on a large group of disabled individuals but
09:34no results were observed.
09:36In the prophet's defense on Sunday, he stated that the products would not be effective unless
09:42supported by a genuine love for him according to premium times.
09:47During the Church's August Break Programme 2024 titled, Break the Limit, on day one,
09:54the prophet reversed his stance stating that anyone selling his spiritual products would
10:00be cursed.
10:01He said, I want to make it clear to you all tonight.
10:06The spiritual items are not for sale, anybody out there selling these spiritual items to
10:11you, I will lay a curse on them because it's not for sale.
10:16Adding, users must register at CMDM to receive the spiritual items for free, which will be
10:22prayed over, stressing that proper guidance will be put in place to prevent chaos.
10:29You users have to go and register on the mountain, CMDM, then they, those in charge of the products,
10:36will give it to you for free.
10:38They will pray on it on the mountain, and then I, Fufi, your prophet, will tell you
10:44how to use it.
10:46You will be surprised because you are not here to test, you already believe.
10:52Don't test it, my prayer is to believe.
10:55Don't test why we register because we want to control the crowd.
11:00Something that has no instructions or guidance is useless.
11:04We can tell everybody to rush and take the spiritual items, but no, a stampede will occur.
11:11That's why we have to guide you people to receive the blessings, and anybody out there
11:16selling them will receive a curse from me.
11:19In response, Veridakman said, I went on his page, and now, he says he is giving it for
11:26free.
11:27Papa, Prophet Fufi, even if you provide it for free, you still have to have enough that
11:33number, which you must provide.
11:36Veridakman while speaking, compared the sale of the products to Valujet, a private Nigerian
11:43airline, highlighting that despite having fewer passengers than Fufi's congregation,
11:48Valujet ensures their free water is appropriately regulated.
11:53He said, yesterday when I came from Abuja to Lagos, I used Valujet.
11:59They don't sell products, they only give water to people inside the plane, and Valujet
12:05water still has enough that number.
12:08Let alone you, Fufi, who has plenty of people sitting in your church.
12:14You must have enough that number before you put out anything people take into their bodies
12:19or use on their scale.
12:21It's a must.
12:22Although the Prophet announced removing certain products from his church's offerings, Veridakman
12:27claims some questionable items are still on the website.
12:32He said, you, Fufi, said you don't sell anything anymore, but what is this?
12:38Cash flow ATM card.
12:40EFCC should take up this case.
12:43Is it going to put cash in your account without you working?
12:47Is it that when you buy this ATM card, you slot it in, and it starts dispensing cash?
12:54I see this as fraud.
12:56Veridakman had also criticized the sales of the, I must carry my Samuel apple, priced
13:02at $12, approximately 20,000 Nairas.
13:07He questioned the rationale behind such exorbitant prices for what is marketed as a spiritually
13:13enhanced fruit.
13:15Is it that when you eat this apple, you get pregnant and start having Samuels?
13:21No matter how spiritual this is, it's too much for an apple.
13:26The self-acclaimed online police said that the handkerchiefs priced at $2, 3,200 Nairas
13:33are still available, raising further concerns about monetization within the church.
13:39Adding that he would file a case with the Nigeria Police Force, National Cybercrime
13:44Center, NPFNCCC.
13:48Every product you produce must have an afdak lumba.
13:51It's not about a miracle or no miracle.
13:54I'll write a letter to the NPFNCCC.
13:58Premium Times stated that the controversy is not new for Prophet Kufayil, who has been
14:04selling and advertising faith-based products like the red seawater since 2019.
14:12Checks on the church's website show that the spiritual products were also sold to people
14:17in South Africa, Namibia, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
14:22His spiritual items have long been promoted as possessing miraculous powers, but the recent
14:28backlash, spearheaded by VDM, intensified scrutiny.
14:33The Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned the lawsuit between the social media user,
14:39Veridatman and Prophet Jeremiah Kufayil of the Deliverance Maseelang International Ministry,
14:45Delta State.
14:46TVC News, in a report on Saturday, said Justice Umusu Iheme, who presided over the case, adjourned
14:54it to the 6th of September for a hearing.
14:58The adjournment followed Mr. Kufayil's counsel, Ihesekyan Samuel, who prayed the court for
15:04an adjournment, saying he was just solved with the defendant's counterclaim.
15:09It was gathered that Justice Iheme further ordered Veridatman and Mr. Kufayil to maintain
15:14the status quo.
15:16The status quo injunction was issued to preserve the current state of affairs while the case
15:21progresses.
15:22TVC reported that Justice Iheme restrained Veridatman from derogatory remarks about Mr.
15:29Kufayil until the latter's injunction motion was heard.
15:33Mr. Kufayil requested a court order compelling Veridatman to retract the Liberals' publications
15:38of the 17th of July and any other defamatory content.
15:43Prophet Jeremiah sought a court order mandating Veridatman to publish an unconditional apology
15:48in at least three national newspapers within seven days of the judgment.
15:54Veridatman and Prophet Jeremiah's attorneys expressed their views on the court's legal
15:58determination.
16:00The prophet's lawyers said, even when there was a false order for status quo, he kept
16:06coming before the social media just to harass, to defame continuously and to drug continuously
16:12and that the court ordered for status quo and restated it.
16:16So the defendant is running the risk of content proceedings and the committal to prison.
16:21Veridatman's attorney, Ademola Adedokun, said, Martin's Vincent O'Shea, who is counterclaiming
16:292.2 billion Naira in damages for breach of contract and deceit, also has a pending interlocutory
16:36application to also stop the Prophet Jeremiah Kufayil and his church, Christ Mercy Land
16:41Deliverance Ministry, from selling any regulated products without filing the proof of certification
16:47or registration of such products.
16:50On Sunday, a video statement signed by Sophia Lloyd and posted on the prophet's Instagram
16:56page said that the church's legal team had been instructed to take action against Veridatman
17:02for false allegation.
17:05According to the statement, Veridatman claimed in a recent video that the church had removed
17:10all approved spiritual items from its official website.
17:15The church dismissed these allegations as unfounded lies and cheap propaganda, emphasizing
17:20that the video was a deliberate attempt to damage the reputation of the general overseer
17:25and the church as a whole.
17:27The statement read, The management of Mercy Television has hearing by this press statement
17:33refuting claims made by an online critic, Mr. Martin's Vincent O'Shea, popularly known
17:39as Veridatman.
17:40In one of his recent video publications, O'Shea alleged that the church, under the leadership
17:47of senior prophet Jeremiah Omoto Kufayil, had removed all approved spiritual items from
17:52its official website.
17:55In a strong rebuttal, the management of Mercy Television labeled O'Shea's claims as unfounded
18:01lies and cheap propaganda.
18:04Church stated further that the video publication was a deliberate attempt to defame their general
18:09overseer and tarnish the church's reputation.
18:13The church clarified that O'Shea is not an official representative of Mercy Television
18:18or the church and has no authority to speak or act on their behalf.
18:23The management also reminded the public that all official information about the church
18:28will be communicated solely through its verified channels and urged the public to exercise
18:33caution and discernment when engaging with any further content from O'Shea.
18:38Mercy Television distanced itself from any liability or responsibility for O'Shea, as
18:44actions, statements, or publications, reaffirming its commitment to transparency and the truth.
18:51Veridakman had vowed to bring 800 deaf, 700 blind, and 36 infertile women to court to
18:59challenge the prophet to demonstrate the efficacy of his miracle products publicly.
19:05Veridakman demanded the demonstration take place in front of a judge.
19:10The social media popular user pursued his challenge by purchasing Prophet Kufayil's
19:14miracle products.
19:17He experimented with the products at an undisclosed disability home in Abuja, housing approximately
19:231,500 residents.
19:26Veridakman documented the process in a video, showing individuals with disabilities using
19:32the products without apparent miraculous effects.
19:35However, Mr. Kufayil addressed his congregation during a live Sunday service and said that
19:41his spiritual products might not work for everyone except those who love him.
