24:04this militarism and blatant promoting of this culture of death.

24:25Like I said, for us it's just a discomfort of sound, but our people in Gaza, in the Middle
24:30East, in Africa, they face the brunt of these war machines in the sky.

24:47We refuse to let these elected officials undermine the public's demands by secretly engaging
24:53in these bloody deals that are leading to the death and destruction of our kin in Gaza,
24:59the West Bank, Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen, and all over the world.

25:07So this is why it's important we show up to these events.
25:10This, you can't even find words, this shameful display of fighter jets.
25:16We will not allow these events to go on so long as Canada stays complicit.
25:21It is our role to push these contradictions and to put added pressure until the Canadian
25:27government provides material action towards a ceasefire, towards an arms embargo, to lifting
25:32the siege on Gaza.

25:39I just want to really shout out the fact that we are here, we may be smaller in numbers
25:43today, but this is a growing movement to shut this thing down.
25:47People in this city do not want to be experiencing the air show and we know this.
25:51I'm Anna, I'm with Parkdale Hyde Park for Palestine, I've been doing Palestine organizing
25:55and migrant justice organizing for the last 20 years.
25:58I have been in this city, when I first moved to Parkdale, and I had no idea about the air
26:03show.
26:04And I experienced those jets overhead and could not believe that this is something that
26:07happens in this city.
26:09Look around you, there are people from all different parts of this city, all different
26:14experiences, there's people from environmental justice groups, there's people who are here
26:18for Palestine, whose whole hearts are with Palestine, my whole heart is also with Palestine.
26:23There are people who are here because we have experienced war and occupation in our places
26:28of origin.
26:29There are people who are here because they hate the air show because it is brutal on
26:34our ears, on all of our senses, our nervous systems.
26:37It's too much.
26:39We are here because we actually know we can create other traditions in this city.
26:44This is not a tradition that we should be honoring in this city.
26:48So I want to be here to say, let's build this movement as this year today.
26:53From today, we are building and we are getting city council to shut this down.
26:58There is no reason this should be happening anywhere and this should not be happening
27:03in Toronto that has one of the most multicultural populations in North America.
27:08This is not something that should be happening when we know there are a lot of people who
27:12come down to the air show because it's free.
27:14I understand that.
27:15You come down for something free that you've heard is cool.
27:18Let's create something else in this city that immigrant families, that working class families
27:23can come out to.
27:24Let's find another way to actually celebrate.
27:27Let's find another way to come together for something that doesn't cost money.
27:31We know that there are people here because they've just heard about it in the same way
27:34that people hear about Canada as this lovely, welcoming place that you can find refuge in.

27:46So I want to say to everyone, it doesn't stop today.
27:49Actually join this movement because we actually have the power to shut the air show down.
