00:00The Olympics' truce in French politics is over.
00:04The business of finding a new prime minister is back on the front burner.
00:08And France's left-wing parties, victors of July's legislative elections, are once again
00:14struggling to find unity.
00:16On Sunday, leaders of France Unbowed, one of the left-most parties of the new Popular
00:21Front, published an op-ed threatening impeachment proceedings against President Emmanuel Macron
00:27if he refuses to name a prime minister from among the winning bloc.
00:31Emmanuel Macron is reportedly about to name a prime minister with no regard for the results
00:37of elections which he lost.
00:39He should know that rather than accept this, we will use all constitutional means to oust
00:44him.
00:45The new Popular Front came in ahead of both Macron's centrist Ensemble coalition, which
00:50lost some 90 seats, and the far-right National Rally.
00:54The left-wing bloc has put forth economist Lucie Castet from the center-left Socialist
00:59Party for prime minister.
01:01She says ousting Macron is not on her agenda.
01:04My plan is not impeachment.
01:07It's power-sharing.
01:08We've known the election results for nearly two months now, and we're still under a caretaker
01:12government.
01:13Macron, meanwhile, is none too keen to have a prime minister from the left in office as
01:19he seeks budget cuts this fall to get France's ballooning deficits under control.
01:25He's trying to cobble together a new minority coalition, in part by breaking more centrist
01:29socialists away from the new Popular Front to team up with center-right parties.
01:34The president has invited leaders of parties and parliamentary groups to the Elysee Palace
01:39this Friday, as the country continues to wait for a new government.
