00:00China has protested the maintenance of the Escoda Shoal of our ship BRP Terasamagbanwa.
00:06China said that the area around the Escoda Shoal belongs to them.
00:10Our Coast Guard countered this by releasing videos and pictures of the interaction between the China Coast Guard and the Chinese Maritime Militia Vessels.
00:19This was brought to you by Ma'am Gonzales.
00:21In the last monitoring of the International Advocacy Group, Sea-Light, the four Chinese Militia Vessels in the Escoda Shoal or Sabina Shoal will not be released.
00:33The BRP Terasamagbanwa was also there and the Philippine Coast Guard was sent there to guard.
00:38But China is putting importance on this.
00:40The Spratlys or Nansha Islands used to belong to the Escoda Shoal and they call it the Shanbin Reef.
00:47According to the spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, the maintenance of the Philippine ships there is not authorized.
00:53China said that this is a violation of their sovereignty, violation of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea,
01:02and a serious threat to the peace and order in the South China Sea.
01:07China went through diplomatic channels to stop the Philippines from entering and removing the ships there.
01:15China is monitoring the situation and they will not use force to protect their territorial sovereignty and maritime rights.
01:24According to PCG's spokesperson for the West Philippine Sea, Commodore J. Tariella,
01:29the Escoda Shoal is in the Exclusive Economic Zone of the Philippines following the UNCLOS and the 2016 Arbitral Tribunal Award.
01:37Therefore, the ships of PCG have the right to stay there as long as they don't need permission from other countries.
01:45Tariella also said that China should stop mentioning the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea because they are violating it.
01:55Some large ships of the China Coast Guard, Chinese maritime militia, and naval assets were sent to the Escoda Shoal,
02:02which added to the tension in the region.
02:05Tariella added that PCG did not deploy there for fun, but to protect the rights of the Philippines,
02:13especially against illegal fishing and the theft of marine assets that are harmful to the marine environment.
02:19Once, pictures and videos of the 53-03 vessels of the China Coast Guard were released,
02:27instead of inspecting the Chinese maritime militia vessels near the Escoda Shoal, they are still mixing and mixing.
02:36It is clear that there is no formal boarding procedure to question the stay of the militia vessels even if they are not fishing.
02:44We asked the Department of Foreign Affairs, DFA, and Malacanang for comment, but they have not responded.
