00:00Swine dirty talk, a motherly girlfriend in more ways than one, unwelcome visitors, and
00:05selfies — these moments in Frasier will make you say, yikes.
00:09God, I could throw you down on this floor right now and, hi!
00:15A little over halfway through the final season of Frasier, Laurie Metcalf becomes the third
00:19actress to play Nanette Guzman, Frasier's ex-wife with whom he shares a potent sexual
00:24chemistry.
00:25Nanette is best known as the popular children's TV and stage personality Nanny G, and when
00:29she shows up in Caught in the Act, Roz forces a reunion between her and Frasier in hopes
00:35of scoring tickets to Nanette's performance for her daughter.
00:38Nanette is desperate for a tryst with Frasier, but we soon learn she's remarried.
00:43"'Donald here does, well, just about everything for me.
00:46He's my manager, producer, songwriter, publicist."
00:49"'Husband.'"
00:50"'I was getting there.'"
00:51On the night of her Nanny G performance, Frasier goes backstage to tell her nothing can happen
00:56between them.
00:57Nanette manages to seduce Frasier regardless, and they throw each other on a bed and begin
01:02to take things too far when the bed begins lifting off the ground.
01:07It turns out this is the opening of Nanny G's show, when she's supposed to emerge from
01:11the bed to sing the first number.
01:13At first, Frasier, buck naked at this point, hides under the covers while Nanette sings.
01:18Desperately, she shoves a costume under the blankets that includes a baby bonnet and a
01:23diaper.
01:24Frasier emerges from the bed wearing the ridiculous and disturbing outfit, and Nanny G announces
01:29in surprise that she has a new baby brother.
01:32Frasier tries to dance his way off the stage, only to find Nanette's angry husband waiting
01:37for him in the wings.
01:39The season 7 premiere, Mamma Mia!, introduces us to a new love interest, and at first, Frasier
01:44is blind to the reason of her allure.
01:47While waiting for a blind date at Café Nervosa, Frasier is smitten with the woman we soon
01:52learn is children's author Marie Preston, played by Rita Wilson.
01:56In spite of an awkward and funny mix-up at the coffee shop, Frasier and Mia hit it off.
02:01There's no immediately apparent reason to feel at all strange about the pairing, until
02:05Mia meets Niles, who reveals to Daphne that Frasier's new girlfriend is the spitting image
02:11of their dead mother.
02:12Does she remind you of anyone?
02:14Oh, you noticed that too?
02:15Are you kidding?
02:16From the minute I laid eyes on her.
02:18Even I can see it.
02:19When Mia joins the family for a weekend in a cottage, Marty agrees with Niles' observation,
02:24and it makes things even weirder when Mia acts motherly toward Frasier, like offering
02:29to cut up his food for him.
02:30Marty and Niles argue about whether or not to say something to Frasier, but when they
02:34watch a home movie that includes Frasier's actual mom, and he sees the resemblance for
02:39himself, they don't need to.
02:41Unfortunately, once Frasier sees the similarities, it ends things between him and Mia.
02:46But it isn't the end of Rita Wilson's time on Frasier.
02:49Wilson reprises the role of Frasier's actual mother as part of a dream sequence in season
02:549's Don Juan in Hell, part 2.
02:57Frasier isn't known for an affinity for physical labor, and in season 10's Some Assembly Required,
03:03we discover an interesting and disturbing reason why he should probably stay away from
03:08such endeavors.
03:09Frasier's co-workers at the station sign him up for a program that builds houses for low-income
03:14families.
03:15When the house is complete, Frasier makes a speech as if he were singularly responsible
03:19for the entire house's construction.
03:21However, his anecdotes reveal he was only allowed to perform the most limited of tasks,
03:26like stirring paint.
03:28Regardless, Frasier develops a strange attachment to the house and its new family.
03:32He visits them just after they move in and offers some free decorating tips.
03:37Frasier, hi.
03:38Hi.
03:39What a surprise.
03:40Honey, guess who's here again?
03:42The family is grateful at first, but their gratitude grows sour as Frasier not only won't
03:47stop dropping in uninvited, but continues to criticize their decorating choices.
03:52He gives them tons of unasked-for accessories, and acts betrayed when he discovers they've
03:57put up a cow-shaped mailbox rather than the one he bought them as a gift.
04:01The new homeowners are forced to eventually shove him out their front door so that he'll
04:06get the message.
04:07He does eventually come to his senses and apologize, and they reward him with a tour
04:12of their fully-decorated home.
04:14Frasier is barely able to contain shrieks of horror when he discovers the new black-and-white
04:20cow theme of the interior, along with a freshly-painted bathroom that Frasier describes with,
04:26"...Wow, that's purple!"
04:28In the final season of Frasier, Julia Sweeney guest stars as Anne, an insurance claims adjuster
04:34that Roz sets up with Frasier.
04:36As Anne, the placeholder, Roz knows things won't work out between Anne and Frasier, but
04:40she acts as matchmaker anyway to keep Frasier's dating skills from wasting away.
04:45Frasier wants no part of it at first, but after an awkward night of being the fifth
04:48wheel at couple's dinner, and another night of cat-sitting that makes him feel like an
04:53old maid, he's willing to take the plunge.
04:55Along with just the cringey notion of dating someone as a placeholder, Frasier's treatment
05:00of Anne doesn't make him appear to be much of a gentleman.
05:03He's clearly annoyed by Anne right away and isn't looking forward to the rest of the evening.
05:08When Anne heads to the restroom, Frasier's co-worker, Kenny, shows up with his lovely
05:12cousin, Liz Wright, making her literally Miss Wright.
05:17Frasier lies to them, saying his dinner with Anne is just business, and he spends the rest
05:21of the day trying to ditch Anne so he can take a shot with Liz.
05:24Of course, both Anne and Liz eventually figure out what Frasier's up to, and he gets the
05:28public shaming he deserves.
05:30So absurdly, Anne still wants to meet him for coffee the next morning.
05:35You're right.
05:36I don't know what to say.
05:38Well, maybe you can come up with something before we have coffee tomorrow.
05:44Frasier uses the line,
05:45"...I'm listening," when he takes calls on his radio show.
05:48This episode from season 11 uses the line for its title and sees the good doctor eavesdrop
05:53at all the wrong times.
05:55Now I know why you're always saying, I'm listening.
06:00Early in the episode, he accidentally overhears Wendy Malick's Ronnie, Marty's new love interest,
06:05making a date with another man on the phone.
06:07Later, he winds up hiding in the kitchen when Marty confronts Ronnie about the date.
06:11But without a doubt, the most cringey snooping comes at the end of the episode.
06:16Frasier is searching Ronnie's car for a lost money clip when she and Marty show up, appearing
06:20to be on the brink of breaking up.
06:23Frasier hides in the backseat and listens to them make up and, eventually, agree to
06:28date each other exclusively.
06:30For a second, it looks like Frasier will get a chance to escape when the couple starts
06:33to head upstairs, but then Ronnie has a better idea about driving to a secluded beach so
06:38she and Marty can steam up the windows.
06:41Frasier throws himself down on the backseat before either of them can spot him and, we
06:46can only assume, unwillingly goes along for the ride, where he's likely forced to know
06:52much more about his father's love life than he ever wanted to.
06:57As a show reaches its final season, it's only natural for ideas to run dry.
07:02Such is the case with Frasier Season 11.
07:05In Episode 17, Coots and Ladders, Frasier recounts his bad day in a series of flashbacks
07:10while Niles anticipates a crime Frasier has admitted to committing.
07:14Although it's not exactly the most entertaining plotline of the series, one moment in particular
07:18will make you cringe.
07:20After a kleptomaniac calls in to his radio show and a beautiful woman turns down his
07:25advances, Frasier finds himself helping his elderly neighbor change her light bulb.
07:30When he learns the 83-year-old woman is still successfully dating, Frasier's bitterness
07:35comes to a boiling point, and he pockets one of the woman's trinkets.
07:40Frasier's over-the-top reaction is played for laughs as he and Niles try to return the
07:44item.
07:45But it's not as funny when you remember he's a grown, educated man taking advantage of
07:49a trusting elder.
07:50The cringiest part of all arrives when Frasier and Niles stumble into the woman's surprise
07:56birthday party and have to talk their way out of Frasier's theft.
07:59They go through many hoops trying to return the item without anyone noticing.
08:03Thankfully, they succeed, but we're left cringing at the two foolish Crane brothers.
08:09Frasier has a chaotic dating life.
08:11This snooty middle-aged psychiatrist can't seem to hold down a woman for the life of
08:15him.
08:16Although he doesn't have much luck with the ladies, he still has not given up hope.
08:21But sometimes, that doesn't feel like a virtue.
08:23Many of Frasier's most cringe-worthy moments are the result of him trying to impress women.
08:28We'll give him an A for his mostly respectful effort, but we won't forgive the cringy dirty
08:33talk between him and his new girlfriend, Madeline.
08:37In season two's Adventures in Paradise, part one, Frasier and Madeline take a romantic
08:41trip to Bora Bora.
08:43He soon finds out that they've booked a room next to his ex-wife and her new lover, which
08:47is awful enough on its own.
08:49But surprisingly, it doesn't come close to the moment the couple hops in bed together
08:53and indulges in the worst kind of foreplay.
08:56Frasier exclaims,
08:57"...I'm sweating like the pig that knows he's dinner."
09:00When Madeline leaves to freshen up, Frasier makes everything worse.
09:04"...I'll be right back."
09:07Madeline might be into the strange pig reference, but for everyone else, it's become a suppressed
09:13nightmare.
09:15We love the Crane brothers for their intellectual interests and expensive tastes, when they're
09:19not putting others down because of them, anyway.
09:22But when the two get tickets to see the hottest play in town, their excitement quickly fades
09:26after they realize the tickets were for an earlier time, forcing them to scrounge at
09:31the last minute.
09:32They'll do whatever it takes to maintain their high-class social standing, except wait in
09:36the cancellation line like a couple of peasants.
09:39"...The last thing I need is to have someone see us loitering outside here like gutter
09:43riffraff, pathetically scrounging for last-minute tickets."
09:46Their superiority complexes are often charming, but in this case, they lean towards cringe.
09:52It's uncomfortable to watch Frasier and Niles desperately try to conceal their lack of prestige.
09:58Everyone wants to impress their friends every once in a while, but it's in the Crane brothers'
10:02nature to take things too far.
10:05In reality, it's likely their friends and the rest of high society couldn't care less
10:09about Frasier and Niles' ticket status.
10:13Frasier and Niles don't have the best relationship with their father, Martin.
10:16Their combative dynamic is first introduced in the pilot episode, when Frasier agrees
10:20to let his injured father move in with him.
10:22Although they learn to make it work, their distinctly oppositional personalities constantly
10:27clash.
10:28This remains true in season one's Dinner at Eight.
10:31After trying to take Martin to a fancy restaurant that's obviously out of his comfort zone,
10:36Martin treats his boys to his own favorite restaurant.
10:39Frasier and Niles can't help but rag on the place for its lower-class status.
10:43They're outright offended by the casual waitstaff and steak-and-potato offerings.
10:49Despite Martin's attempts to humble his sons, they don't let up on their not-so-subtle insults.
10:54Martin is forced to leave the situation.
10:57Instead of apologizing, Frasier and Niles make it their mission to finish their food
11:01in their father's honor.
11:02They even go as far as staying after closing, forcing the waitstaff to wait for them to
11:07finish the food they clearly despise.
11:10The entire affair is enough to make anyone cringe.
11:14Oh, Daphne.
11:16It was only a matter of time before you made Frasier fans cringe.
11:20Throughout the show, Niles and Daphne experience a will-they-won't-they relationship, with
11:25Daphne oblivious to Niles' true feelings.
11:28They finally make things official at the end of season eight, which leads to season nine's
11:33The First Temptation of Daphne.
11:36Still new in their relationship, Daphne feels a tinge of jealousy and uncertainty when Niles'
11:41new patient is revealed to have a crush on him.
11:44Instead of trusting Niles to treat this patient, she goes behind his back and looks through
11:48the patient's confidential medical file.
11:51Not only is it cringe-inducing to witness her insecurities and lack of boundaries, it's
11:55genuinely shocking.
11:57What Daphne does is a crime.
11:59We can't even say that she learns her lesson because, after coming clean, she faces no
12:03consequences for her actions.
12:06Instead, she and Niles make up, and the patient is left exploited.
12:11A young Zooey Deschanel guest stars as Roz's wild and opinionated cousin Jen in season
12:1710's Kissing Cousin.
12:18She embodies the cynical 20-something with just the right amount of cringe and attitude.
12:24Jen isn't afraid to speak her mind, even when it comes to disagreeing with Frasier about
12:28his beloved Freud.
12:30Listening to her go off on tangents about how everyone and everything is inferior to
12:35her unique tastes is intensely cringy.
12:38Even Roz gets sick of her constant partying and tendency to put her down for getting old.
12:43Everyone feels alienated by Jen's behavior, except for a certain station manager.
12:49Kenny feels inspired by Jen's spontaneous and carefree view of the world.
12:54It's sweet to see Kenny gain confidence from Jen's words, but watching them partake in
12:58a makeout session is significantly less so.
13:01Clearly, this is where the episode gets its title from.
13:05Overall, it probably would be better off without the creepy gag.
13:09So, Seattle still loves the Walkman, huh?
13:13Frasier's AM radio show is one of his greatest successes.
13:17He feels good about himself when he helps the people of Seattle with their problems
13:20and is constantly recognized for his stardom.
13:23He's put up on such a high pedestal, in fact, that when a stranger from the radio station's
13:27focus group gives his show negative feedback in season 3's The Focus Group, Frasier goes
13:33out of his way to harass the innocent man.
13:36Manu is a newsstand owner who does nothing more than express his opinion when asked for
13:40it.
13:41He simply states,
13:42I don't like it.
13:44It's a fair assessment, but Frasier gets fixated on it.
13:47He goes out of his way to track down Manu to better understand why he said what he said.
13:53Manu is a good guy, and he feels betrayed by the radio station for lying to him about
13:57the hosts listening in.
13:59The last thing he wants to do is talk poorly about someone else.
14:03In his search for answers, Frasier ends up burning down Manu's newsstand and livelihood.
14:09This lack of empathy and narcissistic behavior makes for a seriously cringeworthy scene.
14:16In the season 5 premiere, Frasier's imaginary friend, the titular lead, hits it off with
14:21supermodel Kelly Easterbrook on a plane trip to Mexico.
14:25During their romantic weekend, Kelly tells him she's in the middle of a breakup with
14:28a professional football player and asks him to be discreet.
14:32Back home, Frasier unintentionally convinces his family and co-workers that he's gone from
14:37being lonely to delusional.
14:39When he confides in his father, brother, and Daphne, who he's dating, they think he's lying
14:43to avoid humiliation.
14:45It gets to the point where his family pays a surprise visit to him in a restaurant where
14:49he says he's meeting Kelly, and because she has to leave the dinner early for an emergency,
14:54Niles and Marty find Frasier eating alone and are more convinced than ever that Kelly
14:59is as real as Santa Claus.
15:01Rather than simply telling Kelly about the situation and asking if he could take a picture
15:05of them to offer as proof or, better yet, just let the whole thing go, Frasier goes
15:09down a disturbingly creepy path.
15:12One night, Frasier waits until Kelly is sound asleep, pulls the sheets down to reveal her
15:17shoulder, and tries to take a selfie years before anyone used the word.
15:22Unpredictably, Kelly wakes up, and once she realizes what Frasier's trying to do, she
15:27tells him exactly what she thinks of what he's done.
15:31Considering his behavior, it's tough to blame her for dumping him hard.
15:35In season three's The Friend, Frasier is disappointed to realize he's spent a few years back in
15:40his hometown without forging any new friendships.
15:43Against Roz's advice, he uses his radio show to look for new buddies, and as his producer
15:48predicts, most of the people who respond are cringier than the show's cringiest episodes.
15:53But amid all the refuse, there appears to be a possible gem, Bob Reynolds, who sends
15:58Frasier a very sane, friendly fax.
16:01Frasier meets Bob for coffee, and at first, things are going well.
16:05Frasier and Bob, played by Griffin Dunn, share a love of literature.
16:09But that's about as far as their similarities go.
16:12Along with revealing an annoying tendency to use air quotes often, and without any rhyme
16:17or reason, Bob spends the rest of the meetup boring Frasier by talking about his obsession
16:22with barbecue.
16:24Frasier is about to tell Bob he'd rather not share dinner with him, when Bob backs up from
16:28the table, revealing he's in a wheelchair.
16:31Frasier eventually breaks things off after first telling Bob the truth, but when Bob
16:35says he wishes it was the wheelchair that turned Frasier off because that would make
16:40Frasier the jerk instead of Bob, the psychiatrist lies and says the chair is the problem, which
16:46Bob uses to turn all the employees and patrons of Cafe Nervosa against him.
