00:05After scoring a 0.0 during one of her Olympic dives, Team USA's Alison Gibson has spoken out
00:10about the embarrassing mistake. While trying to complete a two-and-a-half rotation inward dive,
00:15Gibson's feet collided with the diving board, disrupting her dive and sending her to the
00:19water out of form. Gibson was lucky not to have suffered a serious injury with the miscue,
00:24but was seen wearing a walking boot on social media after the competition.
00:28The 25-year-old American was distraught with herself leaving the water with her head in her
00:32hands and was placed into 27th place of 28 divers after the mistake. Now, the Texan has tried to
00:38look positively about the diving mistake. Yesterday heard. That was one of the most painful experiences
00:44of my life. I asked God why so many times. I was called back into diving a year ago Gibson said on
00:50her sub stack. I won nationals. I qualified the Olympic quota spot at Worlds. I qualified for the
00:56Olympics. I made it this far. Just to have it end with a crushing heartbreak. I poured my heart and
01:02my soul into training. I sacrificed so much. I've asked myself what I did to deserve this. I have
01:08walked diligently and faithfully every step of the way. It doesn't feel fair Gibson continued.
01:13Despite the fact that my competition did not go the way I wanted it to, I set out on this journey
01:17to impact and inspire in everything I do, and I truly believe that I have carried out that mission
01:22to the best of my abilities. Gibson added. I have worked so hard to have an impact beyond myself and
01:27beyond these games, and I have tried to get as many children in Kenya sponsored as I can,
01:31and I have fought with my whole heart, and there is no shame in that.
01:35Gibson finished 10th at this year's World Championships in the discipline,
01:38making her road to a medal a tough one without the diving board mistake.
01:42Even after smacking her feet into the board, Gibson appears ready to move on to her next event
01:46with a night for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
