00:00Hello everyone, my name is Paul Branson, and I do reviews, food, snacks, tours, events,
00:07and much more.
00:08But today, it's a movie review.
00:10The movie just came out this weekend.
00:13It's a 2004 movie, so because it just came out this weekend, called The Trap.
00:20And I cannot pronounce the person who wrote it or directed it, but if you've seen Six
00:25Cents, and the movie called Old, or A Knock on the Door, or Six Signs, or The Village,
00:33you're going to know who I'm talking about.
00:35Plus, his name is in the poster behind me as well.
00:39It's The Trap movie, a new movie he put out this year, and it stars Josh Hartnett.
00:45Now Josh Hartnett got his start in film doing a Halloween movie, H2O.
00:51Then he did other movies, like The Faculty, and he did so many teen-like movies, he became
00:57a heartthrob.
00:58Now that he's older, he's done some other films that I haven't seen him in in a while.
01:05I know he did, back in the day, 30 Days of Night, that was a vampire movie.
01:10So he's done many films.
01:11I think he was in Oppenheimer, but I've never actually had the opportunity to watch it yet.
01:17I should really see it.
01:19I really do want to watch it.
01:21It won awards at the Academy Awards.
01:24I think that film came out a few years ago.
01:27But Josh Hartnett is in this movie, and he's a great actor.
01:31He truly is.
01:32His acting skills really are intense in this film.
01:37But before I get into The Trap, and if you've seen the trailer, the trailer surrounds a
01:42stadium of police, and they're looking for somebody.
01:46They're trapping someone inside, and they won't let anyone leave unless they check their
01:51ID.
01:52There's a little bit more to it than that, but it's an awesome movie.
01:58Now this movie was based on a true story.
02:00In the States, in 1985, they had one of the most biggest operations, a sting operation.
02:07They sent, I believe it was football tickets, to a whole bunch of fugitives' homes.
02:12And they got the tickets, and they showed up.
02:15And the sting operation was, it looked like a real game, but it wasn't.
02:20They went in the stadium, and 102 or 103 fugitives got caught because they thought
02:29it was real, and they won real tickets.
02:32A huge thing in the States that happened in 1985.
02:36So he decided to make a movie about it, but it's different.
02:41It's not exactly the same.
02:46So that being said, Josh Hartnett is the star of the film.
02:50Now, right away, and I'm not spoiling anything, so if you don't want to hear spoilers, turn
02:56me off right now, because this is not really a spoiler, it's right the first five minutes
03:04of the film.
03:05You find out that Josh Hartnett is the killer.
03:09And thereafter, they found out somehow that he was bringing his daughter there.
03:14So he's now trying to get out of the arena.
03:19He's trying to find a way to get out, and his daughter is getting mad at him because
03:25he keeps on leaving the seats, saying he has to go to the washroom, or he has to do this.
03:31It is a really intense film.
03:33It reminds me a lot of the Johnny Depp film, Nick of Time.
03:37So if you haven't seen that film, I do highly recommend that.
03:41That was a 90s film, and it was really well put together.
03:44A really good, intense film.
03:48And even the serial killer, Josh Hartnett, because he's a serial killer, he has a really
03:54interesting name that I won't tell you.
03:58I was the only one in the theater when I went to see this movie, and it really shamed me.
04:04It was like, really?
04:06It cost $30 million to make.
04:09They filmed it in Hamilton, at the Peterburtle, I don't know why I said Peterburtle, in the
04:19Ontario, shoot, I can't remember now offhand, I'll just put it at the back of me there.
04:27But they filmed it in Hamilton, in a big auditorium, and I believe some scenes were also filmed
04:33in Toronto as well.
04:34With $30 million to make, and so far it's only made $20 million.
04:39There's other actors in here, and they're all good.
04:43The cast is really good in this film.
04:45The music is really good, and the tense feeling about it is really good.
04:51And there's just, I don't want to say anymore because I don't want to spoil it, but I really
04:56enjoyed it and how they put it together.
04:59It has, I think it only has a 5.8 right now on IMBD, and I think it's a little bit higher
05:05in raw tomatoes, and I'll put that behind me too, but to me, it shows Joss Hartman's
05:11acting.
05:12He is really good in this, and it reminded me a lot of Dexter, the serial killer.
05:19So if you've never seen Dexter, the TV show, check it out, you'd really enjoy that too.
05:24I personally give The Trap an 8.
05:27Some people didn't like it at all.
05:28They didn't like Joss Hartman's performance, they couldn't believe that he was a killer,
05:34they thought he was overacting, so some people did not like the film, and didn't find it
05:39suspenseful.
05:40I was like, really?
05:42It was really a suspenseful film, and really well put together.
05:48I did not see certain things coming.
05:50Now there was something at the ending that I would have loved to have seen, and that
05:55would have actually really been kind of cool, but I don't want to say because I don't want
06:00to spoil anything.
06:02So check it out, it's a really good movie.
06:04I was the only one in the theater though, and that was kind of fun.
06:08There were some scenes that actually almost spilled my popcorn, and I had to set down
06:12my popcorn because I was so involved in the film.
06:16The scenes were perfect, they weren't dark, that I always complain about.
06:21I don't want to say anymore.
06:22Check it out, The Trap.
06:24You would really enjoy it, especially if you liked The Sixth Sense, and you like him.
06:29He has a huge following, so I'm sure this movie will make its money back.
06:33I believe it's already made $20 million, so I hope it makes more, but I think Wolverine
06:39and Deadpool are taking over the box office right now, and even Twister was a surprise
06:44hit.
06:45Alright everyone, bye for now.
06:46My name is Paul Branson, check out my movie reviews and much more, and have an incredible
06:51day.
06:52Thank you again for watching.
