00:00An analyst doubts the pact brokered by Bersatu for PAS and Gorakan, following a recent dispute
00:07over vernacular schools, will last.
00:10Awang Asman Pawi of University Malaya said he was not sure whether Bersatu could play
00:15the mediator between the two parties in the long run, due to PAS' growing dominance
00:20in Perikatan Nasional.
00:22He said the existing peace will largely depend on what PAS believes would enable it to gain
00:27greater political advantage.
00:30O E San of the Singapore Institute of International Affairs also said PAS is increasingly dictating
00:35terms in the coalition, while Bersatu is losing its influence.
00:40Moving forward, he expects Gorakan to toe PAS' line, as leaving PN will not be a viable
00:45option for the party.
00:48PAS and Gorakan leaders have recently bickered over the role breweries play in raising funds
00:53for Chinese schools.
00:55However, on Saturday, PN Secretary-General Hamzah Zainuddin said the dispute had been
01:00resolved amicably after a meeting between PAS and Gorakan leaders.
