00:00Hi folks, I'm Jamie Saunders and I'm a reporter for The Evening News and I'm going to take
00:04you through five things to do in Edinburgh over the next week. Now that's the week between
00:08Saturday August 2nd and Friday the 9th. Of course the Fringe is now underway and the
00:14very first of our picks for this week might be one for fans of the hit Netflix show Baby
00:19Reindeer. It's Anna Akana's stand-up routine, It Gets Darker. The comic was forced into
00:25retirement for six years by a stalking incident and she'll be taking to the Pleasants throughout
00:29this week to tell all. And continuing along with the comedy theme we have a hotly anticipated
00:35set by the Glaswegian comedian Suzie McCabe. She's been named Scotland's Funniest Woman
00:40and she's bringing her merchant of menace routine to the Assembly George Square Studios.
00:46And next up we have the award-winning company 1927 which is making a return to the International
00:51Festival with the acclaimed stage show Please Write Back. The story centres around Mr E
00:57who disappears and recounts traumatic events to his children in a series of wacky letters
01:02which are told on stage through song and dance. You'll be able to see this one at the Festival
01:08Theatre. Meanwhile this weekend we'll also see the return of the Edinburgh Foodies Festival
01:13at Inverleith Park. It'll be a celebration of food, drink and music with chefs from Masterchef
01:19and Bake Off involved while there will also be a Fringe music showcase and a performance
01:25from pop star Peter Andre. And at the Royal Highland Centre Truckfest Scotland offers
01:30a great weekend of events for all the family. There will be chances to meet celebrities,
01:35to see amazing stunts and to go on thrilling rides. And you can find out more information
01:40about all of these events online.
