00:00The Department of Public Works and Highways admitted to the Senate that the more than 5,000 flood control projects

00:08are separate and small projects and are not part of the master plan.

00:13These are the immediate projects, engineering interventions all over the country that are not part of the master plan.

00:25These are the stand-alone projects to provide immediate relief to low-lying areas in various areas.

00:37It should be noted that these projects are included in President Bongbong Marcos' three-state of the nation address.

00:44The DPWH also admitted that there is no funding for the large flood control projects as of 2024.

00:51The agency has also been without funds for two years for additional equipment, for dredging,

00:56or for the removal of water that accumulates in the rivers to make it deeper.

01:00The DPWH also admitted the 20-year flood control master plan in Metro Manila,

01:04which was made in 2013, is being continued.

01:07The effect of the reclamation in Manila Bay in flooding near the Senate was also discussed.

01:14Reclamation projects will slow down the flow of water

01:20and will change the circulation and retention of pollutants and organic materials that are already in the bay.

01:29This does not include yet what will be coming from the inland.

01:34I foresee flooding caused by reclamation projects.

01:38We will include in the master plan what is being reclaimed here in Manila Bay.
