00:14We'll only be exploring the unsettling moments in the comics and usually the main 616 version,

00:23Number 20.
00:24Doing Buried Before Ryan Reynolds
00:32It's weird how long before Reynolds strapped on Deadpool's katanas, the two have had
00:37a long connection.
00:38In 2010, the actor was locked in a box for the film Buried, yet beyond being one of the
00:43best single location movies, Wade did it first.
00:53In Deadpool number 49 in 2000, the Merc with the Mouth was betrayed by love interest Anastasia
00:59Rinaldi.
01:00When he regained his faculties, Deadpool was buried underground in a coffin.
01:04Trying to see in the dark, he used a lighter believing he was wearing a fireproof suit.
01:08Spoiler, he wasn't, and he was engulfed in fire.
01:12Anastasia eventually got him out, but he was badly burnt until his healing factor kicked
01:18in.
01:19Number 19.
01:25The Incursion
01:26Deadpool number 45 in 2015 was epic.
01:29DP took away the comedy, mostly, as he laid siege against Ultimatum for attacking his
01:34family and friends.
01:36Wade Wilson showed his frightening and tactical side as he slew swaths of minions and took
01:40out Flag Smasher.
01:42By the end, Wade ended the Deadpool character.
01:45To celebrate his new beginnings, he took his friends and family on a boat trip.
01:49Yet, instead of him being able to enjoy this newfound, well, joy, the Incursion happened.
01:55As part of the Time Runs Out storyline, the 616 Earth was set to collide with the Ultimate
01:59Universe Earth.
02:00Each character burnt up from the destruction.
02:03While Wade was content with this ending, it cut short his chance at a normal, happy life.
02:08Number 18.
02:09Assaulted by Typhoid Mary
02:11During Volume 3 of Deadpool, the title star struggled with anger.
02:15But Wade did have one life, his love for Siren, Teresa Cassidy, even if she didn't share
02:20those feelings.
02:21However, she seemingly changed her mind and spent the night with him when he was vulnerable.
02:26The next morning, Siren turned off the image inducer and showed she was actually Typhoid
02:30Mary.
02:31Wade struggled with this assault while the villain had no remorse, instead mocking him.
02:36He threw up and took a shower, driving him deeper into the dark recesses of his mind.
02:41Wade took out his trauma on Blind Al and Weasel by putting them in the box, a room filled
02:46with sharp objects.
02:48Number 17.
02:50Destroying the Marvel Universe
02:51Twice.
02:53Deadpool is a tragic yet funny character, right?
02:56Nothing too horrible happens that he can't recover from.
02:59Nope.
03:00In Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe, DP of Earth-12101 is taken to a psychiatric hospital.
03:07Instead of getting treated, a disguised psycho man breaks Wade, causing a new, sinister voice
03:12to take over.
03:13He goes on a vicious rampage, taking out villains and heroes, even good friends like Spider-Man.
03:18Sadly, this isn't the only time this happened.
03:21In Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe Again, Deadpool of Earth-TRN664 heard the code phrase
03:27by MODOK, releasing his sleeper agent status.
03:31While imagining happy scenarios, in reality, he slays anyone in front of him.
03:36To make it more disturbing, DP even tries asking for help as he can't stop.
03:41Number 16.
03:43Killing Versions of Himself
03:44If the multiverse was real and we got into some hijinks where we had to wipe out different
03:48versions of ourselves, we would have a long, deep existential crisis.
03:53Well, that's what happened to Marvel's Deathstroke in 2013's Deadpool Kills Deadpool.
03:59Wade teamed up with the good Deadpools to battle an evil corp of Deadpools.
04:03He witnessed newfound friends perish on the battlefield, such as Panda-Pool, as well as
04:08take the lives of various villainous versions of himself, including Ultimate Clear-Face
04:12Mask Deadpool.
04:14By the end of the story, Wade was now the only Deadpool in the multiverse.
04:18While this made him very unique, it also made him alone, one of his biggest fears.
04:23Number 15.
04:25The Destruction of His Favorite Chimichanga Shop
04:28Beyond his pointy katanas, one of Deadpool's biggest other loves is chimichangas.
04:33At this point, it's essentially one of his catchphrases, since he says it so much.
04:38In 2011's Deadpool number 44, Wade finds a superfan who has collected his body parts
04:43over the years in her fridge.
04:45Very understandably disturbed, he throws them out.
04:48However, they regenerate and form into the mismatched evil Deadpool.
04:51A couple of issues later, Epool shows how nefarious he is when he arrives at Wade's
04:56favorite chimichanga restaurant in New Jersey.
04:59Prime Deadpool was on his way there since he's been hankering for them.
05:03However, when he gets there, Wade discovers his evil counterpart has set the place ablaze,
05:08destroying one of his few joys.
05:11Number 14.
05:12Killing His Parents
05:13Oh boy.
05:14So, Deadpool has a very confusing early life when it comes to his parents.
05:18But 2014's Deadpool number 34 gave us what actually happened.
05:23As part of the original Sin event, where many secrets of the Marvel Universe were exposed,
05:28we see Wade under Butler's command.
05:31More on him later.
05:32With Sabretooth's help, he and DP go on a mission to test Butler's mental control.
05:36While Wade is experiencing deja vu at the location, he doesn't know why.
05:41Later, he completes his grim mission.
05:43Deadpool enters a house, drinks, and examines items, all while destroying alarms and cutting
05:48the gas.
05:49He then sets a fire, causing an explosion, ending his parents' lives.
05:54Even Sabretooth felt guilty about this.
05:56Number 13.
05:58Betrayed By His Hero
05:59Since he was a kid, Deadpool has idolized Captain America, Steve Roger.
06:04Cap has even helped Wade in missions, forming a bond.
06:07So without realizing his hero was turned into Hydra Cap during Secret Empire, he sent Wade
06:11on a mission to assassinate Phil Coulson.
06:13He sadly did just that, believing Cap couldn't possibly be evil.
06:18After Deadpool took Coulson's life, this brought him into conflict with his close friend
06:22Emily Preston.
06:23The LMD's SHIELD agent attacked Wade for what he did.
06:26During the fight, he got the upper hand and destroyed her, leaving his daughter without
06:30a surrogate mother.
06:31Deadpool eventually got real Cap to fix Preston, but his association with Hydra and his deeds
06:36ruined his reputation.
06:38Number 12.
06:39The Death Of His Child's Mother
06:402013's Deadpool story arc, The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, is one of the best and
06:45saddest in the character's life.
06:47Deadpool discovered that Butler, aka Bartow-Utler, who was involved in the Weapon Plus program
06:52that made him the Merc, had abducted Wade's daughter, Ellie, and her mother, Carmelita.
06:57Teaming up with Captain American Wolverine, the trio helped destroy a North Korean camp
07:01where Butler conducted horrible experimental mutants.
07:04During the facility's destruction, Deadpool made a horrible discovery as Logan attempted
07:09to deter him.
07:10He uncovered Carmelita's body in a pit.
07:12Wade got his revenge on Butler, however, he wouldn't look for Ellie as he believed she
07:17was better not knowing him.
07:19Number 11.
07:21Terminal Cancer
07:27With a lack of options, Deadpool famously signed up for the Weapon Plus program to cure
07:31his terminal cancer.
07:40While he wouldn't perish from the disease, instead grafting Wolverine's healing factor
07:44into him, Wade never lost his cancer.
07:47Essentially, Logan's mutated cells attached to the cancer cell.
07:51When Wade is injured, the good cells are replaced with cancer cells, which then perish and are
07:55replaced again.
08:03Even with a high tolerance, he's likely in pain constantly.
08:07However, those cancer cells seemingly help keep DP's regenerative abilities in check.
08:13In 2008's Deadpool number 3, a group of Skrulls were given Wade's power.
08:18However, without the cancer, their cells grew exceptionally.
08:21They developed uncontrollable growths throughout their bodies and ended up exploding.
08:26Number 10.
08:27Getting bifurcated by Thor and Luke Cage
08:29Things can get hectic inside Wade's noggin, but having another psychopath with regenerative
08:34abilities in there just makes it worse.
08:37When Wade discovered that he'd been accidentally merged with the supervillain Madcap, who had
08:41been whispering in his ear as one of his text box voices for years, he needed to get him
08:45out pronto.
08:47There are a few ways he could have gone about this, but his solution was for Thor and Luke
08:51Cage to each grab one of his arms and pull.
08:55Deadpool got split down the middle, with one half regenerating into Wade and the other
08:59half becoming Madcap.
09:01Looks painful, but worth it.
09:03Number 9.
09:04Feeding Archangel with pieces of his own body
09:07Deadpool is known for many things, his sharp comedic timing and impeccable fashion sense
09:11among them.
09:12Being a teen player though, not so much, but this is one time Wade really took one for
09:17the team.
09:18While on a mission with X-Force, Wade and Archangel were both attacked by Apocalypse's
09:23horseman Famine, who infected them both with a wasting disease.
09:27Wade was able to shrug it off, but Angel wasn't so lucky.
09:30In order to keep his teammate alive, Wade started slicing off small pieces of himself
09:34and feeding them to his down and out colleague.
09:37Pretty touching, but in a way that makes us feel a bit ill.
09:40Number 8.
09:42A grenade go off in his stomach
09:43It's surprising that the Great Lakes Avengers, a team of lovable losers dedicated to protecting
09:48the Great Lakes region using their non-terribly impressive superpowers, would give Deadpool
09:53a run for his money.
09:54But during the events of Civil War, the team forced Deadpool to get a little creative in
09:59his approach, much to his own detriment.
10:01During a scrap with the team of underdogs, Wade turned himself into a living bomb by
10:05pulling the pin on a grenade and swallowing it.
10:07The results were not pretty, with Wade's stomach getting a short-lived renovation into
10:12much more of an open-concept kind of organ.
10:15And to make matters worse, all it really did was mess up the GLA's path.
10:20Number 7.
10:21Breaking his own bones and chewing his arm off
10:23Your best bet for getting Deadpool out of your hair for a while is generally to incapacitate
10:28or restrain him, since we all know how well trying to kill him usually works.
10:33When Wade found himself in one such predicament, he had to go to extreme lengths to escape,
10:37and while chained up and hung in mid-air, Wade's only solution for escaping captivity
10:41was to break each and every one of his bones, allowing him to eventually slip out.
10:46For the record, that's around 206 bones that Wade had to break.
10:49But he wasn't done yet.
10:51He also had to bite his own arm off to escape.
10:55Yikes!
10:56Number 6.
10:57Regenerating out of his right hand
10:58Growing an entirely new body from scratch is a long and uncomfortable process, even
11:03when you have a starting position like a severed hand to start with.
11:07After seemingly perishing, Wade's mortal remains, that being his right hand, were buried.
11:11But death wasn't ready for Wade to join her just yet, and his hand started regenerating
11:16into a new body.
11:17Unfortunately, Wade regained consciousness midway through this process and had to wait
11:22while his bones, organs, and other assorted bits and pieces grew back.
11:25The poor guy didn't even have a magazine to read while it was going on.
11:29Uncomfortable and boring is a terrible combination.
11:32Number 5.
11:34Getting speared by an elephant
11:35You'd think that hunting down zombified versions of ex-US presidents would be a cakewalk, but
11:40it seems everyone forgets about Teddy Roosevelt.
11:43While on the trail of the 26th Commander-in-Chief, Deadpool had the animal occupants of a zoo
11:48unleashed upon him.
11:49Unfortunately, this led to him getting speared by the tusk of an elephant.
11:53Thankfully, Deadpool and the elephant were able to put their differences aside and team
11:56up to stop Roosevelt, at least until the poor beast got electrocuted.
12:00Number 4.
12:01Getting atomized by the Hulk
12:03When the Jade Giant hits someone, it's usually someone tough enough to take the blow without
12:07getting instantly reduced to a fine red mist.
12:10After all, his foreign partners are usually tougher than normal folk.
12:14But this isn't the case with Deadpool, who demonstrated in gruesome detail what happens
12:18when someone as strong as the Hulk takes a swing at someone without invulnerability.
12:23As part of a scheme to end his life once and for all, Wade antagonized the angriest Avengers,
12:28eventually leading to the Hulk completely demolishing him in one powerful punch.
12:33In another story, he even tore Deadpool apart, but Wade managed to bounce back from both
12:37run-ins with the Incredible Hulk.
12:40Number 3.
12:41Getting dismembered by Carnage
12:43Some things just go together, like peanut butter and jelly or Ryan Reynolds and skin-tight
12:47body suits.
12:49And who better to pair with Deadpool than Carnage, the similarly deranged symbiote who
12:54can turn his limbs into a variety of blades and stabbing instruments?
12:58Deadpool spent the better part of an entire miniseries battling the symbiotic baddie,
13:03and Carnage put Wade's healing factor to the test time and time again.
13:07The worst of the worst had to be when he used his powers to slice and dice the Saskatchewan
13:11native into tiny pieces.
13:14Of course, Deadpool managed to piece himself together again with the help of four symbiotes,
13:18so it wasn't all bad in the end.
13:21Number 2.
13:22Becoming a dinner for zombies
13:24Zombie apocalypses may seem fun at first, but nobody's more aware of the downsides
13:29of having the world reduced to cannibalistic ghouls more than Deadpool.
13:33After all, if everyone is a zombie, how's he supposed to get paid to kill people?
13:37So when Deadpool had the chance to end the zombie apocalypse, he took it, and in typically
13:42gory fashion.
13:43After drinking a serum that would cure the undead's craving for human flesh, Deadpool
13:47allowed himself to be devoured by the zombie horde.
13:50We're just surprised that Deadpool would do something so selfless.

14:10The 800 years he spent trapped in a fridge
14:13As we revealed over the course of this list, Deadpool has had some pretty horrific things
14:17happen to him over the years, but this one is particularly brutal even for him.
14:22After seeking shelter from a nuclear attack in a large industrial fridge, Wade became
14:26trapped when Rubble sealed the door shut.
14:28Deadpool remained trapped in that fridge for a whopping 800 years, stuck in a cycle of
14:33death by starvation, followed by resurrection, and then starving to death again.
14:37There's grievous bodily harm, and then there's knowing that you've spent the majority of
14:41your existence trapped inside a fridge, starving to death.
14:44Understandably, it only made him go crazier.
14:47Which comic book characters should we do next?
