00:00The announcement of President Bongbong Marcos that palm trees are no longer allowed in the country is considered by some to be unlawful.
00:26But they are not satisfied with the President's announcement on the price of rice and minimum wage.
00:31Here's the latest news from Sandra Aguinaldo.
00:35Effective today, all pogos are banned.
00:44This is the surprise announcement of President Bongbong Marcos in his third zone.
00:48Until this year, he only gave to the PAG-CORP to leave the country the pogos.
00:54The PAG-CORP will abide by the President's orders.
00:57For six more years, we will do everything to study how we can slowly leave.
01:04We will explain to the legal persons who have licenses.
01:08According to the PAG-CORP chairman, there are 43 legal pogos where more than 40,000 Filipinos are looking for a living.
01:17These are not included in the indirect and ancillary services that are also earned from pogos.
01:24The President also said that he is ordering to prepare training programs so that the Filipinos who will be displaced will have a chance to find a new life.
01:42Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma said that they will find a way to give jobs to affected pogo workers.
01:50Senator Riza Ontiveros is leading the investigation of the Senate on pogos and the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission is happy with the President's decision.
02:01The NEDA, our finance department, has already conducted studies on the Filipinos who will be displaced in the removal of pogos.
02:14So I think there will be an adjustment.
02:18This is a success for women and children who are protesting, for whistleblowers who are protesting.
02:26This is an important success for those mothers.
02:29This was also criticized by other lawmakers, even some in the opposition.
02:34I am positive about the removal of pogos because we, as Filipinos, are leading and we are very vocal in removing or banning pogos.
02:45This work still needs to be addressed for our fellow Filipinos.
02:50But they also criticized the President's other remarks, particularly on the price of rice and the lack of minimum wage.
02:58The per-region wage is not enough, that's why we filed for a national minimum wage.
03:03But until now, the President is avoiding that.
03:07We would like to tell the President to walk the talk.
03:12Why? Because what they are saying about the price of rice, what they are doing is very manipulative.
03:19Even if you increase the amount, it will still not be a solution.
03:26When it comes to irrigation, it was very small when it was reported to us because the number of people who do not have irrigation is very large.
03:33For Senate President Jesus Codero, the President's zone became honest and comprehensive.
03:40His remarks discussed many important things that the people feel.
03:46He allowed me to be the first to talk about his commitment to organized agriculture, the price of rice, and he ended it with the issue of pogo.
