00:00It's time to talk some NFC, Kevin Walsh, Donnie Rightside, and Joe Lisi.
00:10We begin in the east as we did with the AFC with a clear cut top two.
00:16The market agrees and the results typically bear out this way.
00:20Eagles Cowboys.
00:21History tells us it'll be Eagles because it can't be Dallas.
00:27Nobody repeats.
00:28Joe, ironically, sitting next to a pair of Eagles fans, you were Mr.
00:32Philadelphia last year.
00:34You did ruin this team season, at least I believe it.
00:38Now it comes out.
00:39Well, now I've been telling you for a while.
00:42I get reminded seeing your face.
00:44We're talking Eagles.
00:45I can't believe what you did.
00:46Well, I didn't do it.
00:46You had all the-
00:47Matt Patrician, the defensive staff did it.
00:49They had one of the best rush.
00:51No, Jalen Carter did it.
00:53Jordan Davis, my guy, did it.
00:55That's the guys on the field.
00:56Lack of conditioning.
00:57They fell apart.
00:58They fell off a cliff in the end of the regular season.
01:01When they did, they were giving up 63 rushing yards per game.
01:05During the first 11 games of the regular season,
01:08teams were running at will on them at the end of the regular season.
01:12And talk about Baker Mayfield torching them,
01:15and that's secondary in terms of the playoff loss.
01:17That's on Nick Sirianni and the whole coaching staff.
01:20Jason Kelsey's gone.
01:22I mean, that offensive line takes a hit.
01:24I still think they're going to be there.
01:25The one concern, and I know Donnie disagrees with me,
01:29but I'm not sold on Kellen Moore as being this offensive guru
01:32to just light this offense up.
01:33I believe in Jalen Hurts.
01:35I believe in AJ Brown and Devontae Smith.
01:38Not sold on Kellen Moore, especially in a big spot.
01:41But by default, I still think they win the NFC East.
01:44I think they do, too.
01:45Now, here's the simple fixes, because I
01:47know you can't say to yourself, OK, last year
01:49was really a tale of two seasons for the Eagles.
01:51Best record in the NFL, but maybe not the best overall team.
01:54But boy, they did fall off late in the season.
01:56And you started hearing the things like,
01:58we're doing things by ourself.
02:00The defensive secondary, Bayard, comes over.
02:02And all of a sudden, he's calling the defenses
02:03out of nowhere, even though Matt Patricia is trying to call it
02:05in on top of Sean Desai.
02:07Then you take a look at the offense
02:08with a couple of those games late,
02:10where I think this is the Seattle game, where, eh,
02:12we're just making up our own routes out there,
02:14throwing interceptions, because we don't trust
02:15what the offensive coordinator is calling on the other side,
02:18which means he was in over his head.
02:20Now you take a step back and you say,
02:22how do you rectify the situation without just
02:24getting rid of everybody?
02:25Well, if they had a great offseason,
02:26which is good to get the vibes back in,
02:28that still doesn't erase what happened down the stretch.
02:29But if you tell me right now, like Nick Ceriani,
02:32who I still think is a solid head coach,
02:33you don't have a great record like that,
02:34get to the Super Bowl, playoff teams and all that
02:36without having a decent approach to the locker room.
02:39But now you say, okay, I don't call the plays.
02:41Let me go to a true play caller who had some success
02:43in Dallas, didn't work out all that well
02:45out there with the charges.
02:46But I do think he's a veteran coach
02:48that does have some good concepts
02:49that could work with the star of talent that he has.
02:51Number two, Vic Fangio comes in.
02:53That defense, like the Sean Desai,
02:54we're gonna wait, we're gonna wait, we're gonna wait,
02:56we're gonna wait, we're gonna wait.
02:57Okay, let's just name this the side guy.
02:58And nobody in the locker room believed in him.
03:00You can hear Brandon Graham,
03:01who's back for I think his 15th year,
03:02basically say, we weren't really trusting what was called.
03:05That's dead on arrival on a game to game basis.
03:08And it really blew up at the end of the season.
03:09Vic Fangio comes in, those mistakes and broken coverages
03:12won't be there at this point.
03:13So I just wanted to start with the Philadelphia Eagles.
03:15I do think from a coaching staff perspective,
03:17they will be in each game and be competent
03:20as opposed to players doing their own things,
03:23repeatedly Kevin.
03:24Yeah, look, I think you talk about it
03:25from the coaching ending of it and Sirianni being back,
03:29I just think is an approach like,
03:32I understand, look, they collapsed
03:34in a largely unforgivable fashion.
03:38Nine and eight, 14 and three goes to the Superbowl.
03:41And last year was 11 and six.
03:43He's 34 and 17 as a head coach.
03:46Firing Sirianni, I think would have been a really tough move
03:49considering the whole Peterson stuff.
03:52And again, I get it why they did it with Doug.
03:54And I would have understood had it happened
03:56with Nick Sirianni, but do you really want that
03:59to become your identity?
04:01That this kind of becomes the revolving door all of a sudden.
04:06The big additions they made, Saquon Barkley,
04:08I get all of it, it's the two draft picks.
04:12It's Quinion Mitchell, it's Cooper Dejean.
04:13It's arguably the two best defensive backs
04:17in the entire draft.
04:19And the Eagles were able to acquire both.
04:22Because while it is fair to say the offense at times
04:25took a step back, even while things were going well
04:28for the offense, the defense going back
04:30to the Superbowl run was not good enough.
04:33So that is where the excitement and optimism starts
04:37to check in, Donnie, for Philly.
04:39That now you look at the secondary and think,
04:42again, a strength, I don't wanna get ahead of myself here,
04:45but it's not dead last in the league,
04:47which it was as they closed out the season.
04:50Exactly, and you're taking a look there too
04:51at getting Gardner Johnson back at safety.
04:53It was a very pivotal piece of that team
04:55that went to the Superbowl, and sort of that lifeblood
04:57is okay, if nobody wants to stick up for my teammates,
04:59I'll stick up for the guys.
05:00So they do have that going for them here.
05:01I'm just looking at, and again, you have a lot of guys
05:04getting paid, and sometimes you can take a look at,
05:06and I brought up the Cincinnati Bengals earlier.
05:09You don't want animosity into the locker room
05:11into the season.
05:12The reason I bring that up is the Eagles
05:13paid their wide receivers.
05:14They went out and paid Devontae Smith no,
05:16and they had a hothead on the other side.
05:18They go, hey, look, look, look, hold on.
05:19Take care of this guy.
05:20We're gonna pay you more money than anybody's been paid
05:22at the wide receiver position in the NFL
05:23on a year-to-year basis when you get paid.
05:25That was AJ Brown.
05:26But also, one of the key moves that isn't talked about,
05:28Hasan Reddick, great player for the Eagles,
05:31wanted way more money than he was deserved,
05:33and maybe rightfully so.
05:34They got rid of that right away.
05:35He's with the Jets now.
05:36Or should I say, is he actually with the Jets?
05:38Because he hasn't shown up yet.
05:40I think the ability to remove the cancerous parts
05:43of the locker room, I'm not even saying bad players
05:44that was really that out of whack,
05:45but you weren't listening to coaches.
05:47Let me get two coaches you're going to listen to.
05:49Maybe defensive end who started to freelance
05:51to do his own thing at the end of the season
05:53because he wanted more money,
05:54didn't trust what was being called.
05:55They removed that from the situation.
05:56I think they really put that to a head
05:58and all, to Kevin's point,
05:59like Nick Cerrone is not gonna get fired.
06:01Hey, he deserved to get fired.
06:02You bring in Bilicek.
06:03Has anybody got fired with that type of record
06:05outside of what, Schottenheimer with the Chargers
06:07where it's like 14 and two and couldn't get over the hump?
06:09But I just look at it from a locker room scenario.
06:12The Eagles are in a much better place today
06:14than they were Joe when the season ended.
06:15I wanted to bring up something with Dallas though,
06:17just because they're such a part of this conversation.
06:19And when we're talking about kind of coaching movement here
06:22and we're going to get to the commanders in a moment.
06:26I don't think you can really overstate
06:28losing their defensive coordinator, right?
06:30It's one of those things.
06:32He was so excellent for this team,
06:35but the defense, the production was always odd.
06:39They turned teams over at an impressive rate,
06:43but they really couldn't get stops without it.
06:47So now that you have Campbell moving over to Washington,
06:50I worry about that defense.
06:53The offense stuff is all weird.
06:54Who has contracts?
06:55Who doesn't?
06:56McCarthy's back.
06:58It's the fact that now they lost Campbell,
07:02I think could really be disastrous.
07:04I believe so as well.
07:05And again, that defense didn't step up
07:07against Jordan Love and Green Bay in the playoff loss, right?
07:10I mean, completely non-existent.
07:13Dan Quinn, right.
07:14Right, Dan Quinn.
07:15But again, it's deeper.
07:17Dallas is deeper than that.
07:18Again, they have major question marks
07:21as it relates to the quarterback.
07:22I mean, Dak Prescott's no different than Kirk Cousins.
07:25Where's the marquee playoff win under his belt?
07:27Unless this team makes an NFC championship,
07:30how could you buy into the team as a whole?
07:32C.D. Lamb, one of the best playmakers
07:34at the wide receiver position.
07:36We know that in the regular season,
07:37they could outscore anybody.
07:39Put them in a playoff environment.
07:40Who would you want on the center?
07:42Jalen Hurts or Dak Prescott?
07:44That's it for me.
07:46Even though Jalen Hurts didn't win a Super Bowl,
07:48he still got his team there.
07:49I know he's gonna give it 150%.
07:52I would much rather bet and buy into Jalen Hurts
07:54and Nick Sirianni than I would in terms of McCarthy and Dak.
07:58And that's what it comes down to for me.
07:59By the way, you take a look at the Dallas Cowboys.
08:01You usually can pencil them into double digits regardless.
08:03They're still extremely talented.
08:05There's no question about it.
08:06But also, it just felt like last year.
08:07Like, you know, sometimes,
08:08like the Eagles didn't play well to end the season.
08:10You could see it coming from a long way.
08:12But the shot in the arm that the Cowboys got
08:14when the Eagles lost at home to the Arizona Cardinals
08:16and figured they were gonna win the division,
08:17get that home.
08:18Like, Jerry Jones, that very next morning on Monday,
08:21was like, this is God's gift.
08:22Like, I didn't expect this.
08:24We're gonna have home playoff games.
08:25We're gonna make a run to the Super Bowl
08:26and got rocked by Green Bay right off the bat.
08:29And then he took the interesting approach,
08:30which is so non-Cowboys-like.
08:32You usually restructure everybody.
08:34Create $50 million, spend, spend, spend, spend, spend,
08:37get a good team.
08:37He basically put the kibosh
08:39on everything being spent in Dallas.
08:41He goes, prove it to me,
08:42even if it makes your football team worse.
08:44I can't believe they're going into this year
08:45with Dak Prescott.
08:46Right or wrong, $60-plus million against the cap.
08:49CeeDee Lamb wants a contract.
08:51We haven't heard a rumble out of him
08:52when we know he should be one of the highest-paid players
08:54in the league.
08:55Michael Parsons wants to get paid.
08:56He's now going forward with what,
08:57Malik Hooker in the secondary.
08:59They're not getting along.
09:00It looks, and also, McCarthy is angry.
09:02He's a lame duck coach.
09:03Where have we seen that before?
09:04Hey, you better win this year,
09:05or we're not giving you a contract?
09:06How's that work out?
09:07I'm the lame duck coach and a lame duck quarterback.
09:10Yes, it's unbelievable.
09:11The whole thing is totally, totally bizarre.
09:13I don't know.
09:15Jerry's strategy of let's make sure
09:16everybody doesn't feel comfortable is gonna be old strategy.
09:20We'll see how it plays out.
09:22What about the Commanders?
09:23What about the Giants?
09:25Talk about that next.
09:26Commanders, Giants.
09:29Can anyone possibly make a push in this division?
09:35It happened once with Alex Smith leading the charge.
09:40Everybody else was kind of a disaster.
09:42When you look right now, Joe,
09:45at the Commanders or the Giants,
09:46are you in on one team more than the other?
09:49I'm in on Jaden Daniels and the Commanders.
09:51I believe in Dan Quinn.
09:52I believe in the offensive playmakers
09:54around Jaden Daniels,
09:56coupled with the fact that Cliff Kingsbury
09:58is gonna be calling plays.
09:59Terry McLaurin, Jahan Dotson.
10:02You got Brian Robinson, a new addition.
10:04Austin Neckler to that offense.
10:06They can score on anybody, I believe.
10:07And I believe Jaden Daniels is the best quarterback
10:10in this draft class.
10:11We talked about it earlier
10:13in potentially seven, 800 rushing yards
10:15on the ground this year.
10:16A versatile dual threat
10:18that really lit up college football.
10:20Jaden Daniels is a winner.
10:22We'll quickly elevate this team.
10:24And even though I'm not huge on Dan Quinn as a head coach,
10:27even though he had success in regards to previous stints,
10:31he's much better than Ron Rivera was in a big way.
10:35His teams will be prepared.
10:37Dan Quinn will know whether the Washington Commanders
10:41have been eliminated from playoff contention.
10:43And that's a huge start in Washington.
10:45Exactly.
10:46Maybe we'll put Carson Wentz in or not,
10:47or maybe pull him out of the game.
10:49But yes, they will be a more competent team
10:50entering into the season.
10:51And also just by the fact though,
10:53no more Dan Snyder, right?
10:54You're another year removed there,
10:55getting farther and farther away.
10:57You could put your own stamp on this thing.
10:58I do think it's interesting with Daniels a quarterback.
11:00And the reason is,
11:01I don't think they're going to make the playoffs,
11:03but it seems like the talent is there in Washington
11:06where they're gonna surprise some good football teams
11:08and upset some teams this season.
11:10And the problem that sometimes you run into is
11:12with the quarterback position being young,
11:13the games that you're supposed to win
11:15or maybe think you win, you give those games away,
11:17but do you have enough talent there to surprise?
11:19I'm interested to see how this season goes along
11:21because I do think they have some talent here.
11:23I just don't know what's gonna face itself
11:25where it's like, can we get to eight wins
11:26and at least be in that playoff race
11:28by the time we get to December, midway through it.
11:30But I'm high on Daniels.
11:31I think he'll be a good quarterback.
11:32And for myself, I'm gonna be liking betting him week to week
11:35because the one thing I know,
11:37if you're a rookie quarterback
11:38and you have electric skills, like nobody can catch me,
11:41you really like to take off.
11:42One read, two reads, it's not there.
11:43You're not sticking around for the third and fourth read.
11:45You're like, I can run for a first down.
11:47I do think about taking his props early in the season,
11:50rushing because he's probably,
11:51look, if I ask you right now, first three games,
11:53at least one of those games, a hundred yards on the ground.
11:55Yeah, Anthony Richardson broke out.
11:58You ready for this?
11:59Yeah. Season long.
12:01You want to guess?
12:0250.
12:03What? Touchdowns?
12:05No, I thought yards rush.
12:07What, what are we talking?
12:0950 rushing yards for the season?
12:10I like it. I'll take the over.
12:1150 yard run. Longest rush.
12:13No, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
12:16Let me get this straight.
12:17So you think there's a Brad out there
12:18that's like his longest rush of the season is 50?
12:21I don't know. He finds everything.
12:22I don't know.
12:24I thought you had something for me there.
12:25I like that.
12:26What'd you have? What'd you have?
12:27Season long, total rushing yards.
12:30Would anyone like to take a guess?
12:31650. Least he's hit at 50.
12:34Yeah, 650. 650, okay.
12:36Donnie?
12:37He's got, he's, I'm going to go,
12:39because let's just say 820, 820, 825,
12:42825 and a half. 825?
12:44825 and a half.
12:45Well, everyone's new best bet just dropped.
12:48What is it?
12:49Jaden Daniels' season long rushing total is 525 and a half.
12:52Oh, come on now. That's it?
12:53Yeah, come on now.
12:53You gotta, I mean, you can't have an 800, 800.
12:57Hold on, let me pull out the calculator.
12:58We'll do this in real time.
12:59What is 825 divided by 17?
13:01What is it?
13:02That's what I'm about to find out right now.
13:03Yeah, you're talking 30, 31 yards a game.
13:0731 yards a game.
13:07I love it. I think we found it.
13:09There you go.
13:10If he averages, if he averages 50 yards a game.
13:13He is going for it.
13:14I think he is.
13:14He only needs to play 11 weeks to clear the number.
13:16Let me check that roster out.
13:17Who, what's the backup situation there?
13:20I'm telling you.
13:21Hartman. I agree.
13:22Justin Fields took hands over with his legs.
13:24I love it. I love it.
13:25I mean, and just to let you know,
13:26the number's 550 and a half on DK.
13:28I haven't checked every single book,
13:30but what I can tell you is the 525 and a half is,
13:33I don't know if it's the lowest number.
13:35It's a lower number, but I also, you're not 650, 820.
13:40That's not where they're pricing it because you're a rookie,
13:42but it opens up the door.
13:44And look again, Washington, big picture.
13:47The one thing for me is you get Dan Quinn,
13:48you pair him with Cliff Kingsbury.
13:51I think that's very exciting.
13:52It is.
13:53The world where Kingsbury is a dynamic offensive coordinator
13:55wouldn't surprise me one bit.
13:57And we've seen Dan Quinn be excellent with defenses before.
14:00Dan Quinn, look, I know I just messed his name up
14:02in the last segment saying Dan Campbell,
14:03but Dan Quinn went through a Superbowl, right?
14:06I mean, how many coaches even have that on their resume,
14:09being the head coach of a team that played in a Superbowl
14:11actively right now in this league?
14:13So I think the challenge for Washington is
14:17if the Eagles and the Cowboys,
14:20in order for the commanders to win the division,
14:22both teams will have to have pretty nightmarish seasons,
14:26but the commanders could certainly
14:28get through expectations.
14:29The Giants, on the other hand,
14:32I mean, you talk about lame duck situations.
14:35There are very few people that are even still
14:37trying to hold on to the Daniel Jones dream.
14:39Lisa, you spent a lot of the off season
14:41calling for them to take a chance on fields.
14:43That did not happen.
14:44They're gonna go with Daniel Jones.
14:46They didn't draft a quarterback.
14:47I'm fine with that decision,
14:49but it's just gonna be, I think, a weird year in New York.
14:52Yeah, what is their offensive identity?
14:54You sort of saw it in year number one
14:56with Brian Dable when they knocked off Kirk Cousins
14:58in Minnesota, ran the football,
15:00and then they had the evolution of Jones
15:02in the passing attack.
15:03Malik Nabors is a great wide receiver.
15:06Can he get him the football is the main question.
15:08You have Wandale Robinson there, another playmaker.
15:10Can Daniel Jones stay healthy enough
15:14and play 17 games or 15 games?
15:17That is the biggest question mark.
15:18I don't think he can.
15:19I mean, forget the knee injury.
15:22He's had two neck injuries throughout his career now
15:26in which he's missed time.
15:27I mean, he gets hit again.
15:29He's like Tua, can you guarantee me
15:31that he's gonna be standing for 15 games?
15:34I don't believe so.
15:35Again, I think they have pieces there to be successful,
15:39but if I had to bet the win total right now,
15:42I'd probably go under.
15:43They have a few pieces on defense.
15:45I don't like their secondary at all.
15:47I don't like their offensive line.
15:48I don't like their quarterback.
15:49You're relying on a young wide receiver
15:51with a quarterback that can't pass the football.
15:53Oh, handed off to Saquon's not even there.
15:56Now it's Singletary in the backfield.
15:57This just has all the makings of,
15:59boy, you gave it your best there, D'Abel,
16:01but you are getting fired at the end of the season.
16:03We're gonna find a new quarterback.
16:04And quite frankly, they probably should've went
16:06quarterback in this draft as opposed to going neighbors.
16:09Now, I understand neighbors should be a town.
16:11Neighbors is a town if you have a quarterback
16:12that can get them the football
16:13in an offense that's ready to go.
16:14If you don't have a quarterback who's not gonna get time,
16:17what are we getting out of the Giants this year?
16:18So this is a thing that NFL teams
16:22are not often accepting of,
16:24but if the Giants are, I think it'll work out.
16:26And that is, we are gonna be terrible this year.
16:30But why not?
16:32Why?
16:33Because it's New York.
16:34It's win now or get it.
16:36Hey, let me, trust me, you can be terrible in New York.
16:39Yeah, you can.
16:40You can be.
16:41But not when you win a playoff game in year one.
16:43Well, that's the biggest problem yet.
16:45Gets messy.
