Transcript
00:00This school is on strike, this is the Baird Academy Primary School. It's on strike today,
00:06support staff and teaching staff because we're not happy that not enough money is reaching
00:12the school from the trust. We're part of University Brighton Academy Trust and our academy trust
00:18takes more than double the national average in terms of the amount that it keeps back
00:23of government funding for central services and it means that this school, there are not
00:27enough TAs, there's been cuts in staff and it means that the education of the kids is
00:34really badly affected and basically we want the trust to give more money direct to the
00:39schools. They've already agreed that they're going to change their funding system to give
00:44us more but they're doing it too slow and they're not making guarantees, they won't
00:49try and claw back that money. So yeah, what you can see here today is parents and staff
00:55united because we're all fighting for a better education for our kids but the decent education
01:00that we all want needs funding. Yeah, this is one of four schools in Hastings. We've
01:06got the Baird Primary Academy which is this school, Robsack Primary Academy and then the
01:13secondary schools is St Leonard's Academy and the Hastings Academy. There's also another
01:19academy, the Burgess Hill Academy which is out of Hastings. These five schools together,
01:25four in Hastings, are all on strike and tomorrow at 11am in Hastings Town Centre we'll have
01:31a rally and we want as many people as possible to come down and support that rally and give
01:36us support.
