Meralco says almost P2/kWh reduction in electricity bill to be imposed starting June

00:00Meralco recently released a notice indicating a decrease in their electricity rates.
00:05The company explained that this decision was prompted by a directive from the Energy
00:10Regulatory Commission affecting all distribution utilities and electric cooperatives nationwide.
00:16According to the advisory, collections for the wholesale electricity spot market will be
00:21staggered over a period of four months, from June to September, amounting to P1.96 per kilowatt per
00:30hour. As a result of this adjustment, customers consuming 200 kilowatt hours per month will see
00:37a reduction of P392 in their total bill, while those using 300 kilowatt hours will experience
00:45a decrease of P588. Meralco has requested understanding from its customers regarding
00:51potential delays in bill issuance. Vice President and Corporate Communications Head
00:56Zoe Zaldarriaga assured that customers will be given ample time to settle their bills.
