00:00Primoz Roglic struck a potentially defining blow up the top of the Col des Dalvars, nobody
00:10able to stick to the Slovenes wheel.
00:13The final two days could change the destination of the Dauphiné title, but at the start Remco
00:18Evenepoel digesting the swing that took him out of yellow.
00:21The Belgian eyeing different objectives with the Tour de France on the horizon.
00:25It's actually going to be a nice general repetition for the last mountain stages in
00:30the Tour.
00:31They look a bit similar, so I think it's going to be a good test to see how it feels, how
00:37deep I can go actually, and what the numbers will be at the end of the day.
00:42Sepp Kuss was another left behind yesterday, but a little easier to accept, given Visma
00:46have Matteo Jorgensen third, 58 seconds from Roglic, ahead of a monster ride.
00:52I have to see how I feel in the start, for sure there will be a big fight for the break
00:59and it starts a bit uphill, so I have to see how I feel, but probably take it more conservative
01:05and just try and help out as long as I'm able to.
01:11Today proved a stage too far for Tao Geoghegan Hart, the Welshman out, but his Lidl Trek
01:16teammate looks strong, Giulio Cecconi the only one to go toe to toe with Roglic, a top
01:21ten finish in sight, can the Italian go one better than yesterday and earn a stage win?
01:27Like I said, for me this race is like a test, so every day I try to do my best and today
01:34I will do the same, so I will fight and after the stage we will see where I am, but for
01:42sure after yesterday, I mean in my head I feel really good, so I really have a good
01:49expectation of my shape today.
01:52The Queen stage should be pivotal, no fewer than three category one climbs, the first
01:5785km should soften up the peloton before the eye-popping Cote d'Arache, then it's to hell
02:03and back, after the Col de la Ramas, the uncategorised climb to the summit finish at Samoen.
02:13More abandonments, no shock after the past few days, Nielsen Paulus throwing in the towel
02:18while 12th overall, Pseudo-Quick-Step losing Ilan van Veelder, Remco Evenepoel down to
02:25four teammates.
02:27A nervous start, it took until the Col de Cezy for things to settle, a group of ten
02:35but without Mathis Lebert unable to join the break, likely a last day in polka dots. Surprisingly
02:41one of the stronger climbers, Guillaume Martin, was to crack first inside the final 50k.
02:48Leaving Solaire the main threat to Bora, who remained mindful of the gap. As the lead
02:54group reached the Col de la Ramas, Barguil kicked.
02:59Solaire responded and even passed the Breton, the UAE rider going it alone, Barguil regrouping
03:05with Darren Rafferty and Fortunato, 7k from the summit.
03:11The trio rejoined by Bouwman and Prodom, but they weren't able to bridge the minute gap,
03:17Lebert seemed to be in his happy place as he climbed towards the Ramas summit.
03:24A maximum 10 points in the King of the Mountain, more interestingly, Solaire the virtual leader
03:29of the Dauphiné. Fortunato the next to cross, gathering enough points to go four clear of
03:34Lebert in the King of the Mountain category.
03:38Solaire smartly taking the corners cautiously in wet conditions, Fortunato chasing down
03:42the stage 7 leader, while Bora Hansgrohe became more active.
03:48As Solaire headed towards the final 20k, no challenge when it came to the sprint modification.
04:04Solaire's attack the main concern for Roglic, would his yellow jersey be under threat as
04:08the final uncategorized climb began.
04:22UAE's man with over 3 minutes 30 on the yellow jersey group, Bora strong and powerful, not
04:29everyone could keep up. Kuss dropped, the American will hope to rediscover his legs
04:34in time for the tour.
04:36Jack Haig also ran out of steam, the first of the GC top 10 to fall away.
04:43With 7km from the finish, Fortunato saw the gap to Solaire double to nearly 2 minutes.
04:49That all while one favourite was in difficulty.
04:57The yellow jersey group, 11 strong, Bora at this stage had Jay Hindley and Vlasov working
05:06for Roglic, Ciccone and Derek Gee again performing brilliantly to keep pace.
05:12Solaire now having a horrible time, unable to find his rhythm, his solo adventure all
05:17but over. Jorgensen, Landa and Butrago among the group preparing for the final flourish,
05:23which Solaire would take no part in. Caught finally, the Spaniard might reflect that he
05:29went too early.
05:31So the stage victory up for grabs, Vlasov once again sacrificing for Roglic, would it
05:37deliver another win or would somebody else step forward, just past the Flamm Rouge, we
05:42got our answer.
05:53Roglic with 200m to go, getting ready for back to back stage wins, Jorgensen trying
05:59to get on terms, trying to claw his way back to the win, Roglic still fires, Primoz Roglic,
06:06Matteo Jorgensen, but it's going to be back to back wins for Roglic.
06:14Vintage Roglic, back competing for the first time since the Tour de Basque Country crash,
06:20no doubts now over fitness or form heading into the Tour de France and Bora's tactics
06:25again working to a tee.
06:41After two months without a win, two in succession, the 34-year-old's third career win at the
06:46Dauphiné, Jorgensen's second with Ciccone again on the podium.
06:53Roglic within touching distance of a second Dauphiné triumph, Jorgensen and Derek Gee
06:58top three just over a minute behind, Evenepoel slides to sixth overall, over two minutes
07:03off the pace.
07:05Roglic also top of the points classification, ten clear of Ciccone, the Italian will wear
07:09green again on the final day.
07:12King of the mountain as well, Roglic will run out of space in his wardrobe for all those
07:15shirts, Le Verre slides off the top to third, Fortunato in polka dots tomorrow.
07:21Spanish champion Jorgensen the best of the youth, the American with nearly a minute over
07:26Carlos Rodriguez, Remco down to third.
07:31Tomorrow a further three Category 1s, the Finnish 10k at over 7% up to the Plateau
07:37de Glière.
07:38One final chance to try and unsettle the otherwise impervious Roglic.
